“"great holiday overall but room for improvement"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Having stayed at this hotel previously a few years ago, there have been a few changes mainly to the pool and beach area. The room I stayed in on the fourth floor had great views of the pool however, although it stated the room had a balcony, mine was not big enough for table and chairs which was disappointing to me having two small children in bed early at night. The ongoing work at the Riu hotel next door I did not find too intrusive. The food was fine even for two fussy children who managed to always find something to eat. The "egg lady" was lovely and would accommodate any request. Hotel staff were all brilliant very friendly and helpful, particularly Moss the pool guy who worked so hard every day and always had a friendly smile. My kids loved him!! The only downside while I was there was the lack of wifi around the pool area, this would have been an added bonus, and was expected as on a previous visit it was available. Beach area - although lovely I found it to be the dirtiest I have ever seen it. On a previous stay the beach was cleaned every morning and evening. I also found the roping off of the whole beach area completely unnecessary. Its fine to separate it off at the side, but the ropes in front of the sea meant you couldn't manoeuvre your sunbeds very far. These are minor points though and I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday. I would return, just sort out the wifi please!!!

We arrived at this hotel at midnight and the check-in process was quick and reception staff were friendly enough. We had a room on the 7th floor facing the front of the hotel. Our room was very tired and could definitely do with someTLC. However, the rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily and who spends all of their time in the room anyway!!

The pool area was clean and we always found a sun bed and parasol about 8:15am! The pool bar opened at 10am and served soft drinks, beer and wine in plastic cups. Spirits were not available at the pool bar during the day or in the evening despite the entertainment being shown there. We did take our glasses out to the entertainment from the main bar which they didn't seem to mind.

The entertainment was good fun and the animation team worked so hard to make everyone feel involved. The entertainment starts at 21:30 and is usually over by about 22:30. However, we found the guests at the hotel to be so friendly that we stayed out talking until midnight when the bars close.

During the day, the animation team ran a number of activities. We particularly enjoyed the water polo and Aqua Zumba. Taking part in these activities allowed us to meet people.

Lunch at the beach bar was lovely and we always found something we liked.

The men selling trips on the way to the beach try and sell to you at first but once you say no, they do leave you alone.

The marina was a 5 minute walk away, this was very quiet but not sure if this was due to the fact it wasn't peak season. If you are looking to eat out, try 'Le Mediteranee' - absolutely beautiful food and brilliant service.

We used the gym at the hotel a few times and again, this is a little tired but we managed to do what we needed.

I wanted to have a massage at the hotel, however, after using the gym which in the 'spa' area, I decided against it. The workers took their children to work with them so there wasn't a very peaceful atmosphere.

All in all we had a really fun week away made even better by the guests at the hotel and the animation team.

I would recommend this hotel to friends.

Although visiting this hotel just before the arab spring, I was dubious about it, but needn't have been - lovely hotel although some parts a little dark and dingy, but overall was lovely, Staff were friendly and helpful and to be on the beach was an added bonus. we only stayed for B and B which was brilliant as you are only a stones through away from the square where you can eat out at a reasonable cost. We did this on most nights and were treated to a wonderful water display to music every night in the square. It was lovely. Lots to see and do and the Spa was wonderful. Going back to the hotel, I did find the bedrooms a little dark, but luckily one didn't spend much time in them. Well worth a good, but cheap holiday there and your money does so so far!!

Room Tip: A room facing the pool is really the best, but even at the front of the hotel you get the sun most o...

Had the most amazing holiday at this hotel we only had 2 trips out so spent most of the time at the hotel! Staff will go out of there way to help you with every need you have. Room was always lovely and clean! The only complaint I would have is outside of the hotel the men are very intimidating and quite over friendly with women! Girls make sure you cover up!! Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely go back!

Decided to check out Kanta. Came here about 17 years ago and loved it. Came again about 13 years ago and loved it again after havin to leave a really bad hotel with our 3 year old son.
Had a ball then. He was 3 and they left him a birthday cake...lovely touch.
Remembered the staff who were there years before and they remembered us!
From most of the reviews all is still going well and we would love to go back there again. Loved reading all the positive reviews of a place that has such great memories for our family. we will be back some day!

Just got back from our 2 week holiday (18th May - 1st Jun), and our holiday was terrible!! Upon arrival we were greeted by the most unhelpful reception team I have ever seen, we were finally shown to our rooms, only to find that we didn't have a sea view( which we had paid extra for), we told reception of this issue and there response was that they were aware of the issue however our sea view rooms had yet to be cleaned and would be available at 10am the following morning, however at 2pm the next day the rooms still were not finished. The main bar is far too small and can only seat about 50 people, as all of the entertainment was shown here it proved impossible to ever find a seat! The bar is always busy and be prepared to queue for a drink ( we waited as long as 30 mins), the glasses are extremely small and by the time the froth on a beer has gone down you are left with about 1/4 of a pint. All of the bars are NON-SMOKING, however there is a café where you can smoke however you have to purchase your drinks (4 TND for a beer, a bottle) The entertainment starts at 9:30, so be prepared for a lot of being sat about bored waiting for something to start, all entertainment is finished by 10:30, so expect to be in bed by 11:30.. Come midnight, the hotel is completely silent and everyone is in bed due to boredom!! The beach was OK however it was very unclean (bottles, fag ends, dolls, sea weed etc).. The food is OK however it is very repetitive, the pool is OK however you will need to be up at 6am in order to secure a sun bed for the day, all drinks outside are served in small cheap plastic cups, and there are no spirits severed outside. On the Thursday I was ill and at about 1am woke up and needed a drink, so I went down to reception to ask for a bottle of water, and was told this was impossible to get as the bar shut at midnight, after spending 30 mins pleading with the man for a bottle of water, I decided to give up and get a glass from the machine, however there were no glasses or cups in sight!!

Overall this holiday was very disappointing considering this hotel is supposed to be a 4 star, I would never return to this hotel, as the lack of service is terrible.

Room Tip: Choose a room in another hotel!!

We first stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago. We stayed again for a week in May 2014. Nothing about the building had changed. Being built about 20 years ago it was now looking tired but found it to be very clean.
The first day the staff seemed rather unhappy but generally they were helpfull and the waiters jolly.
Food , whilst slightly repetative salads ,was acceptable and the Whole baked Tuna fantastic.
Facilities and the beach were again of a good standard
Overall the all inclusive holiday was good for the price we paid.
