I was a little worried about the weather not being too great in April but I was amazed by up to 30 degree sunshine without a cloud in sight the whole week.

The Abou Sofiane was spotlessly clean and rooms were cleaned daily by the maids who always had a smile and made designs on the bed with flowers that just added a special touch.

The staff are some of the most helpful I have ever met in a hotel and you always feel looked after, some friends I had made over there had left a day earlier than me and the staff made more fuss of me seeing me alone. The little bar man in the evening is a joy and always smiling and the restaurant staff look after you like your one of the family.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone young and old, the place was full of people that had been coming back year after year. when they say all inclusive they really mean it everything is included in your holiday, I was surprised that beach activities like pedalows , canoeing and windsurfing are all included.

The animation team are just mad and may get on your nerves sometimes but they have great personalities and work so hard to keep you entertained. They are all new and don't have all the routines quite right yet but they do make you laugh. Oh yea look out for Zazou once you have met him you wont forget him.

If I did have any criticism to make it would probably be that the music from the nightclub can be a bit loud at night but that's it and it hasn't put me off as I'm booking to go back there in September.

My husband and I and many friends and family have visited this hotel for the past 10 years and each time it has been fantastic, we have made some very good Tunisian friends who cant do enough for us. We went to book again for our next visit only to find that the price had risen to a shocking 700 pounds plus each for October half term, I know its an all inclusive hotel and it is on its own beach but I cant personally justify this amount. There are other hotel in the area with a better star rating for a lot less. Its such a shame as the owner will not replenish the hotel, yes there have been some changes over the years but they have been small ie fresh beach towels, out side toilets and a bridge walkway to the beach, apart from the lobby area which was made bigger (3 years ago) to accommodate guest if it rain's, these standard things should be refreshed anyway, rooms are still the same, room towels and bed linen are the same and smell musty often, food is the same and some of the areas are very run down and need repairing properly. Please Mr Sofiane up grade your hotel and spend a little up grade your carpets, up grade your electrical sockets, allow the cleaners to use disinfectant when cleaning, make it worth the money you are asking people to pay for their holiday, if not please lower your prices in line with 3* hotels and encourage more people to come don't let them go away feeling they have spent more than they should of. maybe Thomas Cook could help with any amendments.
Its such a shame I felt I had to write this but its true, you will pay for 4-5* but you will only get 3*.....Hope this will help with your choice

Wont bore you woth a long review just to say this hotel was a bit tired and dated inplaces but after a few days your having such a great time you stop noticing these things, the hotel, rooms, pool, beach etc all extremely clean, the staff are the most friendly we've ever experienced wheather you tip or not, we dont usually like the butlins in the sunshine holiday entertainment but the animation team made us laugh all the time, the food was brilliant and piiping hot everyday(something for everyone) the only thing i would like to mention on a negative side is that i would like to see the staff that serve you food and drink to be wearing gloveswhen they do, as this is what we've come to expect from other hotels, hopefully the management will read this and take this into consideration, just one little tip when you arrive at reception to book in try to ask for a sea view room we did and because hotel was quiet we got one, happy holidays

What a lovely holiday !! We had a holiday here 10 years ago and we had a very good deal for wek commencing 27th March, We were so happy to see the hotel and beach was just as nice. Seeing a previous review where someone complained of the service when staff were not given a tip made me angry as that is how it goes. Remember this is not England, but a foreign country. Anyway, we have travelled to many places and this has been our most relaxing to date. We spent alot of time on the beach which is kept immaculate by the guy who has been there for 10 years ! The staff in general like to have a conversation and a joke with you and we learnt many things about how their way of life. The animation team are excellent and work very hard and also long hours. The big improvement we noticed was the nightclub. This now doubles up as the entertainment for the animation team and then later as a place to go and have a dance and a drink after midnight (if you still have the energy !!) As to the food there is always something for everbody and we noticed the food temperature was checked on a regular basis every meal time. The other are of cleanliness was the pool. Samples were taken during the day to check the pool. We would also like to say that although we had no children with us the staff were brilliant with the youngsters. PLEASE PLEASE go to this hotel and DO NOT put the recent troubles put you of as this hotel and all the staff need customers. The last thing we met a lovely group of people and had a great of fun. So if any of our new friends read this you will know what we are talking about

This was our fourth visit to Tunisia over 25 years so we knew a bit about what to expect. Our trip was during the first week after holiday flights were resumed following the democracy demonstrations, and there were only about 60 guests. Very friendly welcome from reception staff but first impressions were of a tired hotel which needs refurbishment. Bedrooms were reasonably comfortable if tired, but the bathrooms need renewal. That said, there was always plenty hot water. Gardens were OK but a bit cramped. Kiddies play area looked as if it still awaited the beginning of season checkover despite the fact the hotel is open all year. Food in the main buffet was OK with attentive service. From the grill area the omelettes in the morning and steak at lunch and dinner were excellent. Every day they took food samples for testing so there should be no problem with tummy bugs. Service from the main lobby bar was also good. Some of the other guests have been happily going there for years so I suppose if you want a cheap and cheerful holiday with no frills it could be the place for you.
