Ok some of the building and apartments are a bit dated and sure you may get a bit of mould in some areas of your bathroom BUT for the cost of this Thomas cook holiday I paid these are petty complaints, The food and I am FUSSY plentiful and varied and always something that is delicious to eat.
The Pool and chutes are Brilliant for young and old. The entertainment is normally by the hotel animation team and these guys are the most harding and friendly people you will ever meet, Special mention to Ali,Mehit,Smiley and Slim.
Only complaint would be Titi overstepping the mark at times for a family hotel.
For the previous complainers price how much it would cost to stay in a British hotel for a week. Take away the cost of Airfares and Transfers, Drinks and food cost and you may get a one star bed and breakfast hotel with what is left. A magnificent holiday, Will be back.

just home from the hotel riviera, what a fantastic holiday, staff could not do enough to help us.. they were fantastic made our holiday complete right down to fidel the pool manager. port el kantaoui is a safe place to walk at night from the hotel takes about 10mins taxis are cheap but haggle a price before getting in. will return soon food very good rooms spacious only down point was the air con nearly every room was poor it really needs to be upgraded even in the restaurants too hot and we went october. had a spa and massage but that also needs upgrading it was dirty and not worth going in.

Room Tip: our room was 423 it was a good room very quiet and in the shade from the sun so room cooler as the a...

We decided on this hotel due to good reviews. We booked through thomson and the rep met us at the airport and we were led to our coach.I advise that if you don't want to tip the porters then carry your own luggage before they take it off you.We arrived at the hotel and checked in.The staff on reception are very helpful and try their best to help you with anything. There is a bureau de change in the hotel that is open at different times throughout the day.The restaurant staff are very friendly and always find a table for you and the food was lovely.Breakfast consists of omlettes, scrambled eggs sausages etc, there was also continental breakfast and pancakes(my favourite!! Okay it was the same everyday but you never went hungry. There was a snack bar that served drinks from 10am and food from 12 noon that was pizza, chips, pasta etc.In the evening there was a variety of food and fruit, cakes and ice-cream for dessert. There was a waiter in restaurant that was very helpful he was name was ben.The animation team were brilliant, they took time to speak to everybody throughout the day and got people involved in a variety of activities including darts, aqua aerobics and water polo. They played games in the pool and everyday done a dance around the pool which is catching! In the evening there is a mini disco for the kids where they do okey cokey etc and showtime is at 9.30pm. The head barman was fantastic he remembered what we were drinking every night. The pool area was clean and the hotel room was spotless. Our maid was lovely and asked everyday if our room was okay,we had clean towels everyday and air con was great.Only minor problem was the pressure of water in the evening i had shampoo in my hair and the water went off for 5 mins because of people using the showers at the same time.It wasnt the end of the world and we laughed about it as my husband shaves his head!! Our hotel rep was called frithi,he was fantastic,he was not in the hotel all day but he would let you know what time he would be in there on that day.We booked with Thomas cook before and we never saw our rep when we went to Turkey so this was great with our rep. There is a camera man based in the hotel who upset my husband. He wanted to take a picture of us and we thought okay lets have it done,10 photos later and then he tells us it will cost bout 44 dinar about £18.We were stunned,we should have asked the price first, anyway i had to get some medicines from the pharmacy so we told him that we did not want the photos (the quality was not good) as we paid out for medicines.Everday he pestered us and eventually my husband told him to back off.A few other people did too.Needless to say we did not pay for our photos but this did not stop the man from asking my husband as to why he can buy coke and ciggies from the shop but not the photos!! My husband walked away!! so please beware of this man but apart from that we had no problems with any of the staff. We booked a 2 day excursion to the sahara,we were met at 6.30am and yes we were on and off the coach for the whole day and we went on the camels ( a must) just before we arrived at the hotel,it was fun and for about £1 you get to hire some clothes to wear for the ride. For those who dont like camels then there is a horse and carriage. It finished of the day but i must say I walked like John Wayne for the next 2 hours. We checked into the nice clean hotel and had dinner and our guide told us that we would get a wake up call at 4am the following morning! The following day after an early start we went to various places including a jeep safari in the sand dunes and see where star wars was made.We had lunch on both days but just paid for drinks, just make sure you take enough money with you we spent about £80.We arrived back at the hotel at approx 6 pm.It was tiring but well worth the money and our guide Mohammed was excellent. If you want to see a bit of tunisia then this is the trip for you.We had two weeks here and we are going back next year,a truly fantastic place.

Room Tip: we were on the fourth floor overlooking the pool,no problems as there is a lift.

We visited the riveria again this year after having such a great time in June and September 2010 .The staff here are the most friendliest you will ever meet they go the extra mile to make sure you have a great holiday .
CHECK IN
The animation team were outside waiting to greet us off the coach singing and dancing .Rooms were available even thou we had arrived at 11am the lady on reception recognised us straight away and friendly shook our hand
ROOM
I had booked two double rooms but was given two massive suites/family rooms over looking the pool but soon found out they were noisy until 1am because of the late night disco although this didn't bother us .Our rooms were kept spotless with fresh towels everyday and bed linen changed .i always left the maid 2-3 dinar per day .The air on was good and kept the room really cool. My only criticism is that our fridge wasn't very clean on arrival I think they forget to clean them .Also only one electric socket worked in our room but at least I managed to do my hair of an evening some how .
POOL
Is absolutely brilliant the slides and pool area is kept clean daily .However there were guests putting towels on the sun beds to reserve them whilst they went to the beach for the morning then the pool of the afternoon .Some mornings we did struggle to find 4 beds altogether.
BEACH
Is lovely well kept and you can get drinks and lunch there however the guy that works down there reserves beds if you tip him so if your not down there early TOUGH you can't get a bed because there all taken by the people who have also reserved the sun beds by the pool. This is so wrong and needs to be addressed by the management .
FOOD AND DRINK
The Alcoholic drinks have always been weaker than at home . Hedi in the bar is ok he soon gets to know what your tipple is and has it ready and waiting for you .We always tip him at the end of our stay .The queues at the bar can become quite long of the evening .In 2010 the waiters used to get your drinks for you which I think was much better but that is my view The food was not up to the same standard as in June and some evenings we found it difficult to make up a meal we all enjoyed.
ANIMATION TEAM
These are the reason why we have visited this hotel 3 times .they are a great bunch of guys and girls who work hard all day and night to keep the guests entertained .They interact with everyone but after reading some negative reviews about them and seeing a Facebook page describing them and some of the bar staff and bellboys as Rivieria Rats it is quite obvious that these are the all female groups normally in there 40s 50s and 60s which I refer to has the Riveria Cougars who go on holiday here looking for the Tunisian male attention flashing their cash expecting relationships with them then stating that they have robbed them of there cash .They should get real and go hire a male escort in the Uk if that's what they are looking for ! .
RETURNING GUESTS
If you visit this hotel 5 times you get a Red Wrist Band .These should be BANNED because some people think it gives them the god given right to push in the queue and be treated like royalty .I personally wouldn't want to wear one .
OVERALL
This is the only hotel I would stay in port el kantaoui . We always have a great time and the weather is always nice and hot .But this time the food let it down

Room Tip: Try and avoid rooms in the thousands they are above the disco

If you want a relaxing stress free holiday this is the right hotel.

Working in hotels myself I know I can be quite picky but we had a nice room really clean with good views of the pool, good air con and fresh towels every day. The food was always good plenty of choice from breakfast through to dinner and the waiters are very attentive and friendly if you sit in the same area every night they always remember your drink order. The day time activities are well run by the animation team and they are never pushy if you just want to relax, we never had a problem getting a sunbed round the pool and down at the beach what ever time we went down.

All the staff are great especially the animation team who work very long hours but always have a smile on their face for every guest and work hard to make sure every one has a good holiday.

We never did any trips out but the port is georgous and well worth leaving the hotel for a wonder around and shopping in the medina in Sousse is good fun.

I don't normally go to the same place twice but wouldnt hesitate in returning here.

This was our first time in Tunisia and an all inclusive stay. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were very friendly. the animation team were excellent especially a lad called Roby. He took time to come and speak everyday and ask if we were OK. I did have one problem with two members of the animation team though. They commented on a T shirt I was wearing stating that it was offensive to Muslims as it depicted the Illumanati but I explained it was aprism with the words Miami. It was cleared up. The pool area was spotless. The food for me was good but my wife did not enjoy the food. she had an upset tummy after the first night after eating. Although the staff were excellent, I doubt I would return to the hotel.
