we stayed at the soviva for 2week the first 2 week of june we was really dreading it due to the recent reviews of the hotel as we was traveling with 2 young children 3 and 17months. first impressions was good reception staff and porters are very friendly on arrival our room was ready we didnt have a cot when we arrived but was quickly given one to our room our fridge wasnt working but again it was quickly fixed. yes the corriders are abit grubby but the rooms were clean enough and towels changed everyday with 2 young children i didnt have a problem with the cleanliness of this hotel.
the enterntainment team are wht make this hotel they work morning till night and always take the time to talk to you my 2 children loved them all people can slate there shows but they have to praised for how much effort they put in they always have a smile on there faces and keep you entertaintained morning to night.
the bad things that you could find fault with are little things like our second week it got very busy and the hotel couldnt cope waiting at least 25minutes for a drink in a evening as one bar is only open and then being told you can only get 2 drinks at a time with a family of four agin this is a pain having to que back up for two more drinks, the managment in the resturant are very rude and not helpful but the waiters are, no snack bar round the pool having to get two children dry dressed and in to the resturant for a little snack was a bit of a pain, not being able to get a drink before 10am or to them it was more like 10.30 you have to get juice from the resturant if you want a drink but the juice is very sweet and i personally didnt like it, these to me are little things that the hotel could improve to make it easier for holiday makers i booked this hotel as it was advertised as a hotel for famillies other than the enetertainment there is nothing if you have children under 10ish. we was also told that my little boy couldnt have milkshake after 5pm?! its all inclusive! if your children like ice cream and they are expecting it it will cost u 3dinar a ice cream and we was there 2week and it was on twice in the resuturant. the food was ok if we had gone for a week it would of been ok but 2 weeks of it was quite boring yes you can have pancakes and they will make you fried eggs and omlettes in the morning but theres only so many you can have before you get bored.
one thing i would say to watch out for is the maids moving your thing i searced high and low for my watch and braclet that i left on the side and found it in one of the drawers right at the back i didnt put it there! and also they put my hubbys designer shoes right at the back under the bed luckly he found them before we left i cnt be sure if these things was done delibratly but its good to know if your going!
overall the hotel was ok would i go back no i personally dont think this hotel should be classed as all inclusive as they pick and choose what you can have and when as for the entertainers my kids loved them which makes me happy so i cant fault them! if you have booked go with a open mind and enjoy if your thinking of booking there are better hotels out there.

We stayed at the Soviva for 2 weeks and after reading the reviews decided to go with an open mind! Yes the corridors are dated and grubby......but that is it! The hotel staff are very welcoming and the reception team are exeptionally helpful and friendly. We travelled as a family of 4 but only had 3 beds upon arrival, but bunk beds quickly appeared, as did the bulb get changed in the bathroom when it stopped working. The main slides are open....and great fun! One of the 'tube' slides are open and were used a lot by both my children. The pool area is clean with plenty of beds (but do take your own towels, as they are only availbale to hire at a cost). My husband and I both agree that the pool size and depth is one of the best we have seen, young children can safely use the big pool due to it not being too deep. The pool bar was never too busy and glasses were always cleared away quickly, keeping it safe for families. The food is average for an all inclusive, the pancakes are firm favourite with us! The salads were particularly fresh, we never struggled to find something we would all like. Lastly the entertainment team....Chelsea, Hannah, Sophie, Sammie and Hayleigh....these 5 people work their socks off to help everyone enjoy their holidays and deserve lots of praise. The pool entertainment is fun, but you never feel pressured to take part......but have a go...you may win a certificate!! The Dizzy and Shades disco is a must for families with young children and the shows are enjoyable, with them all putting in so much hard work......they clearly love their jobs and want you to enjoy your holiday.
Do not be put off by first impressions with the corridors and basic rooms, the Soviva has much to offer and fun to have.

Room Tip: Young children can see entertainment from balcony

We stayed here in late May and early June for 2 weeks as a family of 4. The hotel itself is definatley a 4 star more verging on 2/3 star, its very clean but shabby, if you look on their own web site www.soviva-resort.com its very deceiving. The black and silver bar (barroc bar) is an exclucive bar not available to all inclusive, all inclusive can only use the lobby bar not which has one maybe 2 bar staff, which means long queues at night with the Czechs and \Russians pushing in. The alcohol to me was very weak and i could not even get tippsy (so take some duty free with you). If you have any problems speak to Jan who is English bit has lived in Tunisia for 20 years, she is excellent and if spoken to in the right manner will go out of her way to help you. (but dont cross her) As for the thomas cook rep Sarah dont bother with her, she seems nice at first, but she is just lazy and arrogant who just comes in a few nights and basically sits on her backside. I had a query which she didnt like and bit my head off making me feel really small. This is unusual to me as i always go with Thomas Cook and she is the only bad rep i have found so far. She sold us a trip called Medina Ramble which is where your supposed to be guided through the Market by two Tunisian guides working for thomas cook and shown how to get the best deals by bartering. (please dont waste your money) its a con and Sarah the rep is in on it. You get dragged through the medina market and taken to the shops where the guides Aymen and wallid are getting commission, they then proceed to smoke the shish pipe and stuff their faces while you get given the hard sell, this isnt a lie i saw this with my own eyes and was told by a local that they get commission. When complined to the rep sarah she shooed me away quite agressivley.
Back to the hotel, The pool is very big but only one slide is open and has been since last november, my kids were very dissappointed, The entertainment team (Sammi, Hannah,Sophie, Chelsea and Hailie are very good and work hard during the day, they dont force you to do anything you dont want to, they do plenty of activities and its worth getting involved as they are fun and break the day up. their only bad point is when they do their caberat shows at night, they are awful as they cant sing for toffee except hannah. At night the hotel really needs to get some decent acts in. The staff are exceptional especially Jammilah Salah in the restaurant and Mohammed who makes the crepes, these two cant do enough to help. But the food is very repetitive but well cooked. The beach is quite nice and only 5 minutes walk, the bad point is that you can only get cheese batches from the snack bar. Have a go on the pedalo and the paragliding and jet ski, good fun.
The hotel isnt in a good location with alot of building work going on around and not many shops near by.
Would i go back? Hmm... yes only if it was cheep enough.
If your expecting Tunisia to be pretty and picturesque think again its not.

Room Tip: Make sure if you tip a waiter they see you.

Just come back from a lovely holiday at the soviva resort with my two dauughters ages 19 and 14 and we had a lovely time. After reading lots of reviews about this hotel i was slightly worried and had a little dread but i went with an open mind. but i need`nt of worried . The hotel was lovely, our room was lovely and kept clean and the food was a pleanty. The waiters are very nice and helpful, as soon as your drink gets low the waiter comes over with another glass for you. So please dont worry when you read these bad reviews like i did because i couldnt find one fault and neither could anyone else i spoke to, everyone seemed to be having a great time. The entertainments team worked tiredlessly morning noon and night to keep people entertained and they where especially good with the little ones. We did mainly stay in the resort because we ventured into the marina in kantaoui one eventing and it was a nightmare for my daughters, the men wouldnt leave them alone and they found this quite intimidating. They where happy to stay by the pool and work on their tans. My youngest loved the slides and was very happy to stay in the pool. We did go to the private beach and this was good also as there is lots of things going on down their from camel rides to water skiing. Would i go back to the soviva resort...yes i would if i didnt want to see other parts of the world first. So enjoy your holiday...we did x
