Went to this hotel april 2014.The food was very good and plentiful.
Its the first time iv'e ever had bacon in a hotel in a muslim country.
the room we had was excellent with a sea view, the sandy beach
with its white sand was the best I have ever set foot on,the so called marina
was a bit disappointing, mre like a docks, with people trying to drag you in everywhere,
but all in all a very nice break.

Recently returned from a wonderful week at this special hotel.Travelled 2 years ago to the Royal Thalassa hotel in Skanes and had a really bad experience there and at the time said I would never return to Tunisia.Having seen the reviews for this hotel on trip advisor I decided to try Tunisia again but was slightly apprehensive.I am now glad that I did as I cannot fault any aspect of this hotel. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome and the reception staff were very friendly and obliging.Initially we were given a room overlooking a terrace which was not to our taste but a quick word with reception meant our room was changed with no hassle. Both the rooms we experienced were spacious, tastefully decorated and more than adequate for our needs. The food was,in our opinion, fantastic and there was plenty of choice for everyone with themed nights available. The restaurant was well organised with the same table allocated for each evening meal. The waiters and bar staff were very attentive and nothing seemed too much trouble even when they were busy.A special mention must go to the Director General Mehrez Saadi who introduced himself and his deputy at the welcome meeting and was visible and approachable throughout the whole week.He spoke to most guests to make sure everything was ok and never seemed to go home!I must also mention the lovely beach attendant who looked after us everyday and was always smiling. An exceptional Hotel ,well run and certainly an ambassador for the Riu hotel chain. We hope to return very soon.

This was the first time for us in Tunisia, and my husband was a bit dubious about going - any doubts soon vanished once we arrived at the hotel. the check in was fast - when the porter take your bags he's not looking for a tip, it's his job but we tipped him anyway and at the end of our holiday changed his sterling tips into Tunisia money for him.
The rooms are spacious and maintained and cleaned to a high standard.
There are 2 sittings for evening dinner and you keep the same table throughout which is nice. The food was fantastic and cooked to order, if you like blue cheese go to the cheese table first as this goes really quick. The cakes and pancakes are a nice touch in the afternoon with coffee.
I drank my way through the cocktail menu a few times, there not TGI's standard but are not your normal all inclusive standard either. The Tunisian liquors are sweet and Moorish.
The location of this hotel is brilliant, it's right on the beach and only a short walk away from the port(about 30 minutes).
The entertainment not's all that but the team are really friendly and try really hard bearing in mind I class that we went out of season, and it depends on what you are looking for.
The staff at this hotel cannot do enough for you and are a credit to the management here. My advice would be to tip at the beginning of the holiday in the bar and restaurant, as we never queued at the bar after tipping and there was always water , red wine and rose in an ice bucket at our table in the evening.
We also made this a busy holiday as it was a country we hadn't been to before did most of the trips, they are long days so would advise that when you go for breakfast make up a few rolls and take a few pastries as you get picked up early but do not get lunch until 1.30ish. The restaurant opens about 5am for people going on trips but has no hot option for you.
This hotel is stunning and we will look to return either later in the year or early next year.

We just returned from a two week stay at this beautiful hotel. We have stayed at this hotel frequently over the past fifteen years, as well as a few alternatives (we LOVE Tunisia). I would have to say that on the basis of vale for money, the Imperial is top of the pile.

The food has improved every time we have been, and there is a huge selection at both lunch and dinner. There are some strange looking dishes, as you might expect in an Arabic country, but there was always some quality dishes available, many of them cooked to order.

Lunch was served in the beach restaurant during our second week, and the quality and variety was just the same there - perhaps even better with the barbecue! We tried the Tunisian and the Asian restaurants too, both included in the all-inclusive rate. Tunisian was good, Asian was outstanding.

As always, the staff were exceptional, and nothing was too much bother for them. Abdelaziz in the restaurant was just one of many who made the stay a total delight. Special mention to our waiter, Caliph, who was a real joy. Even Houcine managed a smile!

Elsewhere, the front desk staff were superb, especially Emani, who was the essence of efficiency and courtesy. RIU - if you read this, please make Emani the manager of your new hotel at Green Park ! - she would be awesome in this role! Dora led the entertainment team, who were enthusiastic and friendly to everyone.

All of this under the genial management of Mehrez, who was always available to guests and who went out of his way to make everyone feel at home at 'his hotel'. Well done, Riu, for bringing the Imperial up to this standard, and we'll be back for sure!

Just had our second stay at the hotel RIU Imperial Marhaba [ 06/04 – 13/04/2014] having stayed there the same week last year. I gave the hotel an excellent review on this site. My wife and I were so pleased with the stay last year so decided to go back for our second visit to Tunisia with high expectations. Nobody from the travel agent [ Hays ] the tour company [ Thomson] and the staff at the hotel let us down. It was another fantastic relaxing week.
Having stayed there last year I made Hays travel aware, who in turn made Thomson aware, as a result of which we were provided a room with a sea view free of charge. The Thomson representative was also aware, when I spoke to her out of courtesy, to say that we would not be at the welcome meeting due to it being our second visit. She provided us with enough information as we required regarding how to contact herself or Thomsons if there were any problems.
The staff at the hotel were mainly the same as our last visit which in itself tells a story how friendly the hotel is. They are all pleasant and can’t do enough to ensure your stay is made as pleasurable as possible.
After the review I submitted last year and the excellent reviews I have read submitted by other visitors to the hotel, I am just going to leave a couple of points to assist those people intending to visit the resort, RIU Imperial Marahaba:
The port is only a short taxi ride from the hotel and they are readilly available outside the hotel . Agree a price. 5 Dinar to the port [ @ £2.00 ] 10 Dinar [@£4.00] to the nearest city which is Sousse. Sousse is a lot more commercialised and busy. Although we did not visit it on this occasion it is worth a walk around. Only suggestion is the ladies wear suitable clothing, as the last time we visited, the locals men took pleasure at looking at the ladies.
The port is a really pleasant area, with shops, bars, boat excursions and restaurants. From the hotel it is about a 45 minute walk. You can either walk out the bottom gate at the hotel, turn right and walk along the beach to the port. Or you can walk out of reception, turn right then first left and then left again at the main road. Walk along the main road until you reach a roundabout with a large golf ball in the middle of it. Turn left and continue on that road and that will bring you to the port entrance. En route there is an Irish bar.
Be prepared for people to stop you and state they are a member of staff at your hotel on their day off. Basically what they are doing is looking at all inclusive bands on travellers wrists and it is a ploy to get you into a friends shop. All the shopkeepers are fine and a polite “ no thank you “ normally does the trick. They are only trying to make a living.
On your flight you will be asked to fill in a greed immigration card which you hand in on arriving at the immigration desk at the airport. Expect things to be slow moving in this area and hang onto the part of the green card that they give you back as you require this for the return journey.
The rooms at the RIU were spacious and cleaned every day.
The food and the variety available were excellent.
Bars etc close at midnight but if you haven’t had enough by then !!!!!.
Enjoyed our second stay as much as the first and will definitely return in the near future.
Hays travel, Thomson Holidays, Hotel staff and the locals made it a great week.
Hope this review helps those intending to travel Enjoy.
