Have just come back from a 1 week stay as a couple and can honestly say we had a fab time. A bit surprised by the average reviews from people, however all I can say is that this holiday can be as good or as bad as you make it! We went to relax but also ended up horse riding, go-karting and jet-skiing as they were such a reasonable price. We also got a spa deal which was very reasonable and about half the price of the u.k.

We found it all very relaxing, yes sun beds are harder to find around the main pool area, however we managed to find plenty of space at 9.30/10 at the beach and by the afternoon there was plenty of room in both the gardens and the beach as everyone tends to go to lunch or back to their rooms. Pool area very clean, a bit noisy with people and music but if it did not have the entertainment people would complain it was boring! If you want to chill just go to the beach!

Food was great, we heard someone complaining that there was only pizza and pasta, well yes this was available every day but for the more adventurous there were tons of salads, meats and fish etc. we were confused why people would complain as I managed to have a different meal every night. We also went to the Indian and Italian al carte which were a nice change if you don't fancy the main restaurant. Steak restaurant was very good, yes you have to pay but for £40 we had a fairly decent bottle of wine and 3 courses each, try getting a decent steak etc. for that price elsewhere!

Tipping wise we were a bit confused how to do it, but we tipped our waiter about 5 dinar at lunch (around £2) and £10 on an evening, only if they had served us well! If you don't tip you still get good service, but by tipping we arrived at our table in our normal area and the waiter went to get us drinks immediately, just makes a tiny difference.

Overall a beautiful hotel, very clean and everyone extremely friendly so we will be back next year!

Room Tip: Superior room overlooking the gardens very quiet and a very good size.

This hotel was great but we were not impressed with the entertainment. It was terrible, the same set of songs played two or three times daily with the same awful dance. The food was very repetitive and was not impressed with the Italian a la carte. Did not try the Indian so can not comment. Lovely pools but can get very packed especially this time of the year. Would not choose to return.

Me & my mother travelled here on the 3rd July to stay for a week.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were well looked after by the friendly staff.
The rooms & hotel itself is immaculate, the decor is impressive modern with a Tunisian twist. The rooms are spacious & comfortable, with complimentary tea, coffee & bottled water, if you ever run out just ask & the staff will be more than happy to grab some more for you. Theres also a fridge & kettle in the room.Cleaners come in every day, towels are changed daily. Always plenty of hot water. TV in the room you will find a few English channels after searching through them.
The pools are great very clean & the temperature is just right. Theres two outside pools one where the activities are & one that is more quiet. I personally enjoyed the club songs sang around the pool & so did my mother who always joined in, it always brought a smile to our faces.
The beach is nice, although very small as each hotel own its own part. There's also a beach bar to get drinks & Panini's from, but take your own bottled water with you as they give it you from the tap.

The spa is very impressive inside, the indoor salt pool is great to escape from the sun or to cool off at the end of the day. We didn't end up having any treatments in the end as we got sun burnt but the prices were very reasonable & there were a lot of professional treatments to choose from.

Food was always good, not fantastic but good,i am however a fussy eater but i always managed to find something to eat.

Breakfast - eggs, croissants, cereal, toast, sausages, muffins, pancakes & more.

Dinner time- rice, chips, jacket potatoes, turkey, steak, salad, lasagne, vegetables, cottage pie & more.

Dessert - ice cream, cakes , jelly fruits, chocolate fountain & more, cheese & biscuits.

Drinks at dinner time was a little bit of an issue, it was always difficult to get one. You never quite know wether to help yourself or not. Always hard to find a glass to do so though. Cocktails also not that great very powdery & sugary & i normally love a good cocktail however the vodka was drinkable.
Waiters do work very hard, but have so many tables to look after, which what makes service so slow.

Entertainment was good & always a laugh, they will always smile & say hi when walking past.

Weather in July was very hot & we didn't have a bad day.

Special thanks to sayed (not sure how to spell it so sorry) helped us with our luggage & all throughout our holiday. So friendly & made our holiday special lovely man.

One thing to remember, only change your dinars when you need them as you can not take dinars out the country. If you are left with a large amount at the end of your holiday change it back at the hotel keep your receipt. You a can not spend it on duty free in the airport as you have to change it back before going through passport control & the exchange rate is bad & you will lose out.

Overall i would recommend this hotel & would return.
Thanks for a lovely holiday :)

We have just got home from having two weeks at the Royal Kenz, and iam glad to be home. The Hotel its self is very nice, but the staff were rude, not very helpful and made you feel uncomfortable. The food also wasn't very good, and we ended up eating out a lot.
All in all i wish we'd had a holiday somewhere else and wont be returning to Tunisia anytime soon. (also found the locals very rude too when out and about, in the port and Sousse.)
Just trying to be honest as the comments on tripadvisor won me over to book this hotel.

Stayed here for two weeks in June/July this year. Enjoyed our time here. There was lots of water sports to do - parasailing, speedboat, sofa and banana boat and of course quad biking which I really enjoyed which were booked with Max who really took care of us.

The hotel itself is immaculate and well taken care of. The gardeners are a credit to Royal Kenz. Plenty of drinks and food available at the pool and beach bars.

However, the dining experience was somewhat a factor that the hotel needs to sort out. On more than one occasion we could not find a table to sit at. There is one waiter that looks after the tables on the upper floor of the dining hall by the windows that was absolutely vile. He moaned and groaned as to why we sat at a specific table that was empty and didn't even offer us drinks and when we asked he muttered something in arabic as he walked off. Rest assured we never went to him again!

The food itself was good. Plenty of variety although got repetitive during a two week stay. Lots of cakes and crepes available! Although it would have been nice to go to the steak house which when asked, none of the staff knew about.

The evening entertainment was repetitive and boring.

The rooms themselves were good, however the maid on more than two occasions did not provide us with clean towels and our water/tea was not replaced. Also the water went off for whole day and we had to run downstairs to the bar to get some bottles of water so that we could wash our hands after using the bathroom! No explanation was provided to the annoyance of both the other guests and ourselves. Not what you would expect from a 4 star Platinum hotel.

Also we had to pay 40 dinar for the use of the room safe! Total rip off!! When I did pay and got the code I realised that the safe was not even bolted to anything!! Went back down to reception and managed to get the use of another in one of the other rooms we booked.

We decided to book two excursions through Thomson - Tale of 3 Cities and Market Fever.

I would not go on the market tour again as there was not enough time to actually look at anything properly. I found it to be a way of sending tourists to a specific area to be ripped off. Prices in the market are 100% more expensive than in the marina shops so be prepared to haggle a lot - even below what you think is reasonable! We then went for lunch at a hotel in Yasmine Hammamet. The food was rubbish and the area deserted with one or two tourists floating around.
The guide on the tour bus throughout the journey would often just be ranting on something irrelevant. The whole trip felt as if it was spent on the bus rather than at the sights themselves.

The 3 cities tour went to El Djem, Monastir and Kairouan. This was a disappointment to say the least. Not enough time was spent at El Djem or Kairouan and the trip to Monastir was a complete waste of time in my opinion.
When we went to Monastir the tour guide just left us to it for an hour and a half with nothing to do. We ended up being shown around by a local who in the end tried selling us a "silk" rug for 400 dinar which infact was 100% polyester!
In the end the majority of the coach party came back within 40 minutes. Again the whole trip felt like it was spent on the coach and rather boring.

In my honest opinion, the hotel is really nice but would only stay for one week max.

Room Tip: Avoid pool side rooms which are very noisy at night.

Just got back from a 10 day stay here! We travelled as 3 couples. We requested rooms near each other and we were all in a line, rooms 15-19! Nothing special view wise but it was in a quiet part of the grounds which was perfect! The rooms were always spotlessly clean and the cleaner was always so polite and made special effort with flower arrangements on the bed!

The hotel grounds were beautiful, with all members of staff from the receptionist to the gardeners forever smiling and friendly!

The food was SO GOOD! Anyone that complain with the food, must be rather picky. There was always something to eat from pizzas, chips, rice, salad, burgers, turkey, fish, pastas! And breakfast was just as yummy! If you're going to be picky about the food they serve, then go self catering and cook your own food!

Both the pools were lovely, nice and refreshing not cold but exactly what you need to escape the heat! The smaller of the two pools was quiet as the entertainment team were based around the larger pool!
All the bar staff and waiters based around the pool are LOVELY, especially Sabre a young lad there who was constantly happy and willing to do anything for you!

Beach is beautiful, very limited space as each hotel has it's own space! The sea is nice and warm too!

Tunisia itself is fun, get a taxi into the marina in the port (pay no more than 3Dinars). Also grab a taxi to Sousse Medina and go to the National Shop to get beautiful jewellery and gifts for people! It's government run so if it says the necklace is gold you know it is!

The men will try and get you int their shops, but they're no harm, it's how they make their money, be polite but firm and say no and they will leave you be! However never allow a woman to walk the roads on their own!

Outside the hotel on the left is the Hawaii shopping mall which is fixed price and hassle free. Also on the right there is the Miami shopping centre which is also fixed price and hassle free! However haggling is fun, you can get some real bargains so don't be afraid to try your luck at haggling in the little shops!

Out of the hotel to the left is a cafe called Sunflower, do not give this place a miss! Super tasty burgers and chips or paninis and sandwiches and so ridiculously cheap!

Be careful with your money, you can only change it back to English at the Tunisian airport and only if you keep all the receipts you get from changing it to Dinar!
To avoid all this hassle I change small amounts as and when I need it in the hotel. This means no over spending and no worries!

Over all Tunisia is hot and beautiful and I've been here twice now! I can not fault the Royal Kenz, it to me definitely deserves it's spot at number one!

Please message for any further enquiries about Tunisia/Royal Kenz
