“Poolside noise!!”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

This could be a good hotel, restaurant waiting staff were very good and food varied.
However the outside experience was totally ruined by the animation team. At 10am a bugle reveille was sounded which marked the start of non stop noise. It was unavoidable, I tried the beach and even tried the sister hotel next door but the noise could still be heard. We were known as the noisy hotel by those guest. I realise some guest like the animation, although very few joined in, but it does not need to be anywhere near this loud. Several people mentioned it to reception but nothing was done about it. Totally ruined the holiday and would not use a RUI hotel again if this is the bench mark.

Just returned from a week stay at this hotel and honestly it has been the best holiday ever!

Where to start.... Arrived at the hotel around 12 noon to be greeted by the staff at reception and with a drink.. Lovely!

Cases were took to our room for us shortly after arriving...

The weather was amazing all week.. People do tend to get up early for a sunbed when there really is no need to as "mr happy happy" is always on hand to sort you a sunbed if struggling..

The animation team... These guys are great. They work very very hard all day and night and they deserve a gold medal. Everyone of them. If you are not bothered about joining in activities they don't hassle you. Big massive high five to the animation team! My favourite part of the holiday was seeing these guys performing .. They have amazing dance skills and can most defiantly put a smile on your face! :)

The rep kerina again was lovely and always on hand if you need help or any info ... Very friendly and approachable.

We went to friguia zoo which is a must we got to hold animals and feed giraffes for a small price...

The food here is ok always plenty of choice at meal times and me been a fussy eater always managed to find something I liked and was never hungry!

I can't praise this hotel enough I will be returning! All the staff work so hard .. You don't have to tip but they really appreciate it even if a small tip!

The rooms were always nice and clean and fresh cannot find a fault at all!

The hotel is right next to the beach which Again is lovely... Lovely sand and clear blue sea.. Around a 45 min walk to the harbour right out of the hotel along the beach nice walk there and back.. Lots of shops cafes etc down there ...

My only downside is the airport! We had a big wait and the porters there just tend to take your cases and expect a tip, I would rather just drag my own case!

Overall a massive thankyou to everyone at bellevue park for an amazing holiday and I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone!

Xxx

We’ve just returned from a week’s vacation at this hotel with 3 kids age 12, 6 and 3. We booked a package deal with Thomson and took the coach transfer to the hotel, which was about 40mins. Checking in was quick and easy, although the air-conditioning in the lobby was pretty low, so we were hot and sweaty by the time we got to the room.

We had two connecting rooms (1039 & 1041) which were on the same level as the lobby. They had a corner view of the sea, but unfortunately a view of construction on an adjacent hotel that is being developed, but not too much of a problem with noise. The rooms were clean although in need of moderisation and the towels seemed to have seen better days. Room size was fine. Each room is provided with 2 bottles of water on request each day, furthermore there is free WiFi in all rooms. The only niggly negative is that there was no kettle and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.

Food at the hotel was exceptional and enjoyed by all the family. Dining rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel had two dining sessions (6.30-7.45 and 8.15 – 9.30). You had to book one for the period of your stay and stay in the slot on the same table throughout your stay, this was a bit tedious as it was a small slot for dinner with kids and we were forced to keep to a time schedule for dinner. They key-card system in the hotel seems to have a problem as keycards were constantly not working and we had to walk to reception to get a new key card. We had to swap key cards at least once a day, and I understand that many other guetss had this problem as well.

The service in the dining area was not great, probably because the hotel was full and busy and queues were about 5-10 mins for main dishes at peak times. Queues for pancakes at 3pm were about 20 mins. I did find that generally the service was quite brusque, and the staff seemed too busy to smile. When we lost our 3 year olds cuddly toy. It was difficult to actually somebody to help search for it, generally we were told to ask somebody else.

Drinks were available in plenty, although glasses were not always available. Also the soft drinks in the dining area were very close to the alcohol. So you had the smell of alcohol when getting soft drinks. Fresh juice was not always served at breakfast.

The hotel also new that it was one of our party’s birthday and decorated the table very nicely for dinner and sent a little present to the room. This was nice surprise and very much appreciated. The only niggly thing is that they forgot to bring the cake out until most of the family had left!

The Animation Team here are great. They work very hard to get all the guests involved in the activities (although not pushy) and the kids club was great. The crazy pool game at midday was funny and challenging getting kids and adults involved.

The swimming pool seemed a bit small when we arrived, but was efficiently managed so we didn’t feel crowed. There is also a kids pool with a small slide and a paddling pool as well and an indoor pool (which we did not use).

As usual there is a grab for poolside sunbeds very early, especially for beds near the kids pool and close to the hotel as this was covered by the hotel wifi. To reserve a poolside sunbed you need to be there at 6am, and even then 60% of the sunbeds would be gone!!

The beach was very close, clean and had lovely smooth sand. The activities just outside the hotel were good and cheap. £20 for paragliding was great.

The shops inside the hotel are expensive and you need to haggle to get to a reasonable price. The same apply to the stalls that are set out on Saturday. If you don’t want to go to the medina for shopping I would suggest you buy at the stalls and haggle to get 50-66% off the price. I was also surprised to find that the shops at the airport (before immigration) were reasonably priced, but you still needed to haggle a bit.

All in all, I would rate this hotel a 4.5 and would definitely return, due to the great food, free wifi in rooms, great animation team, free bottled water in rooms, birthday surprise,

To achieve a 5 rating it would have needed, better service in the dining areas, no queuing for food (especially for pancakes), fresh juice always available at breakfast, soft drinks separated from alcohol, tea/coffee facilities in rooms, one session for dinner, better keycard system and better air-con in lobby/reception area.

Just back tonight from a week stay at this hotel...first time in Tunisia, emailed hotel about 3 weeks before, requesting high floor etc, didn't get a reply, so arrived at hotel about 12.45am, after 2 hour delay from Glasgow, to get a bedroom on -1 floor, couldn't get any lower.( but still was lovely room)
Staff were all lovely and very friendly, and worked very hard, and not one had a grumpy face -so top marks
Thomson rep- "Kerina" is just the loveliest girl, nothing was ever to much bother for her, so another big tick to Thomson
I thought was a good idea, was at dinner at night you got assigned your table, for the whole holiday, so there wasn't any rushing trying to get a table etc....food was also good, with plenty of choice...and when at the bar, I always ordered a large vodka, or what you wanted, so you could taste it, also plenty of cocktails to choose from A very child friendly hotel to stay in!!!

Room Tip: ask for a high floor, for a good sea view

I don't even know where to begin. This was our second stay at the hotel. We brought the extended family with us this time and they were blown away just as we were! - we're already booked up twice for next year

Firstly, the staff. They are the loveliest people i've ever met, they went beyond expectations to make us feel that bit more special. They honestly couldn't do enough for you. They remember your name, your drink orders and just love chatting to you! - we've kept in touch with a few via Facebook! Complete angels!

Animation team: really made our holiday. If you enjoy entertainment throughout the day, aquagym, volley ball, darts ect. You won't be bored, they also provide night time entertainment.

Food: delicious! Something for everyone a huge variety! The chefs work so hard around the clock! Couldn't fault the food!

Rooms: SPOTLESS and beautiful. Plenty clothing storage and hangers, we never ran out!

Hotel in general: beautiful, clean great atmosphere, exactly what you could want and expect on a all inclusive holiday. You will not be disappointed. This hotel has a lot of regulars that come back year after year! And now we're the same..

Only bit of advice is you need to get up early for sunbeds! I'm sure you can imagine already. Our german and Russian friends often beat us to it! I got up at 7am to claim ours, weren't a problem. We made loads of friends from all around the world.

The staff work VERY hard, chat to them and be polite, they deserve it!

Cannot fault, its like our second home, if you haven't been before you're honestly missing out. Best hotel!

Just returned from a 1 week holiday to this hotel with my boyfriend! Hotel is gorgeous, very big, really clean and staff are very friendly! When we arrived it was 2am. We got to our room and although I had emailed twice asking for a seaview room it was not what we had requested! Our room was quite small and basic with two single beds pushed together for a double bed! But we just accepted it anyway! The pool and beach were lovely, really clean! People tend to get up at the crack of dawn and put their towels on beds which is very annoying as sometimes we didn't get a sun lounger at the pool even if we were there at 8.30am! This shouldn't be allowed! There was a huge variety of foods at breakfast lunch dinner and crepes at 3pm!! Lovely food! There is so much to do in El kantoui. We did parasailing on the beach, Jet skis (photographer takes your photos and you can buy the disk for 35 dinar which is about €13) horse back riding, camel riding, quad bike tour, scuba diving, friguia park zoo and swimming with dolphins! All excursions are reasonably priced and all so much fun! The only fault really with the hotel is that there is no night life! There is a show on every evening with the animation crew which is good but once it is over everyone gets up straight away and leaves! We found we were 2 of about 10 people who actually stay up past 11pm! The bar closed at about 12/12.30 but the bar men would always give us a few drinks we could sit out and finish or take to our room! There was not many people our age (early 20s) that we could go out with/socialise with! Mainly families etc! We went to port el kantoui two nights and one night to the irish bar at hotel kanta! Would highly recommend la Medeteranian restratant at the port! The hairdryer in the rooms is AWFUL! It will not dry your hair... As it said on the website there were hairdryers provided I did not bring mine.. Which was a disaster! I ended up having to borrow the hair dressers hair dryer most evenings to dry my hair! All in all it was a brilliant holiday and the resort and staff are lovely!!

Room Tip: Ask reception for a second room key. That way you can keep aircon on in room when out as it can get v...
