Mesut Hotel

Reviewed 25 June 2014

just returned from the mesut hotel, and found it to be a lovely clean, well located hotel with very accomodating staff . sounds great but please read on.
this hotel does not cater for the british tourist, please dont get me wrong, its not that you are unwelcome, quite the opposite , staff are very good , a special mention to the animation team, awesome, even walked us to the bazar(market).thank you.
the problem was partly alanya though, it appears most brits go to other resorts, we were told we were the first brits this year in the hotel.the cold buffet is always plentiful and varied and very nice, but the hot buffet was at best warm, was really poor and often ran out.my grasp of the turkish language is non existent but tbh some of the staff fared no better with their english, even words such as vodka - lager still caused some confusion even at the end of the week.
rooms were as expected, well maintained etc communal areas well looked after great restaurant staff.i suggest being careful with room choice, we were given a side room on the first floor, there is a terraced seating area right on your balcony - burglars paradise so we moved before unpacking.the beach is 30/40 metres over a road , you have to pay a supplement in the hotel for a sunbed and to extend your all inc drinks, was around 3 euros i think.the beach has (water) outlets into the sea, im not sure what the (water)is but when snorkelling the sea was murky.....
bus stop outside the hotel into alanya harbour area 2tl pp each way taxi around 15 tl.lots to do in alanya, its a pleasant walk along the sea front.beer is around 8tl,drinks are typical uk prices(not london).
all in all not a bad cheap holiday, allow extra cash to eat out, highly recommended the marina restaurant, funnily enough by the marina - chicken in pepper sauce mmmmm
i would go back again but probably wont as i like to go to different places, and please dont think im a food whinger, i can accept it wasnt a 5* break but it really was a dire hot buffet.
go and enjoy, dont panic if you booked already, just take a few £££££££ more and eat out a bit, theres mcd bk and dominos to my knowledge..............
nearly forgot - go on the electric scootys , 7 euro for an hour , the best value fun you will have while you are there, was wetting myself with laughter for the full hour.

Room Tip: watch out for first floor terrace over the front entrance side of the hotel

With my friend we go to Alanya several times a year for 4 years. We were accommodated in a few hotels in the center of Alanya and also in Oba, but none impressed us so much that we came back again. But finally we found Mesut hotel! The best turkish food, you don´t know what to choose the first and you can whatever without fear of intestinal problems :), very kindly behaved staff, location of the hotel is very very comfortable, bus stop in front of the hotel, also taxi waiting there everytime, the beach is just across the road and places with best bars and discos are only 10 minutes by taxi or bus, also typical turkish markets are close to hotel, beautiful and clean rooms and overall atmosphere of the whole hotel convined us to return there again as soon as it will be posible :)

Room Tip: The best is to choose the room with a view NOT to sea and main road, because the sun is shining in t...

I stayed here with my partner in May 2014 for 9 days. The hotel has literally just been refurbished from what I am aware, it was fantastic. We had a sea view which was great, the hotel staff and room were perfect. these comprised of good sizes and were very clean and well looked after, the hotel maids were very good and prompt and we appreciated the towel displays.

Someone posted photos of a damaged toilet and other photos but that isn't the case at the Mesut. It really shines and stands out from the other hotels and we really felt like we'd picked the best hotel on the Alanya seafront. We liked it so much that I wanted to take the time to tell others how great it was on here.

The all inclusive buffet wasn't really catered to our needs and we found it repetitive and not that exciting. Mostly pasta and continental dishes. It could have been a bit better, however it was perfectly adequate. We also found that food was available most of the day including a small buffet and drinks machine by the pool free to use.

We went to the restaurant opposite the hotel a few nights as it was so fantastic. It was the 'Wine River Restaurant' definitely worth checking out if you fancy a meal out!

Few other things were that the 'fitness center' or 'gym' isn't a gym, it's a few apparatus on the seafront for all public use. We used the sauna, it was great and free but other bits like Turkish massage you had to pay for but this is to be expected. You also had to pay for sunbeds on the beach, they are really cheap so didn't really bother us and there is WiFi if you ask for the password at the beach hut which was fantastic. The Air con is free also which is great.

The staff, the hotel room, space, public areas, pool, bar were absolutely excellent also the bar offered drinks like Tuborg beer not the usual cheap alternative you would expect. Each hotel has it's own beach which is great and it is literally across the road.

Overall, the hotel needs to update their website about the gym and costs of beach beds but other than this, it really was a perfect holiday destination and the hotel was brilliant and the Mesut really made us feel welcome.

Around the area there was plenty to do, there was a castle, cave, lots of walking opportunities and also many shops. The bus stop is opposite on the main road and cost 2 Lira (50p) each way pp, however we walked back many times (which we enjoyed the views!) as it was very busy at peak times. This took about 40 minutes from the main Bazaar shopping area.

Would definitely recommend for other couples and would happily return again!

Room Tip: Sea-view room if you can :)
