just returned from the mesut hotel, and found it to be a lovely clean, well located hotel with very accomodating staff . sounds great but please read on.
this hotel does not cater for the british tourist, please dont get me wrong, its not that you are unwelcome, quite the opposite , staff are very good , a special mention to the animation team, awesome, even walked us to the bazar(market).thank you.
the problem was partly alanya though, it appears most brits go to other resorts, we were told we were the first brits this year in the hotel.the cold buffet is always plentiful and varied and very nice, but the hot buffet was at best warm, was really poor and often ran out.my grasp of the turkish language is non existent but tbh some of the staff fared no better with their english, even words such as vodka - lager still caused some confusion even at the end of the week.
rooms were as expected, well maintained etc communal areas well looked after great restaurant staff.i suggest being careful with room choice, we were given a side room on the first floor, there is a terraced seating area right on your balcony - burglars paradise so we moved before unpacking.the beach is 30/40 metres over a road , you have to pay a supplement in the hotel for a sunbed and to extend your all inc drinks, was around 3 euros i think.the beach has (water) outlets into the sea, im not sure what the (water)is but when snorkelling the sea was murky.....
bus stop outside the hotel into alanya harbour area 2tl pp each way taxi around 15 tl.lots to do in alanya, its a pleasant walk along the sea front.beer is around 8tl,drinks are typical uk prices(not london).
all in all not a bad cheap holiday, allow extra cash to eat out, highly recommended the marina restaurant, funnily enough by the marina - chicken in pepper sauce mmmmm
i would go back again but probably wont as i like to go to different places, and please dont think im a food whinger, i can accept it wasnt a 5* break but it really was a dire hot buffet.
go and enjoy, dont panic if you booked already, just take a few £££££££ more and eat out a bit, theres mcd bk and dominos to my knowledge..............
nearly forgot - go on the electric scootys , 7 euro for an hour , the best value fun you will have while you are there, was wetting myself with laughter for the full hour.
