We arrived very early in the morning and were welcomed by the hotel owner and our bags were taken straight to our room. We were very tired so quickly unpacked and in bed to make sure we were up early to make the most of the breakfast the next day!
Room: First impressions, the room was very basic - 2 beds, a shower room, a TV (with an English news channel and music channel) and a balcony but as we weren’t going to be spending all our time in the room, we didn’t see this as an issue. We had a Mosque behind us and were told we may be woken in the morning; however we didn’t hear a thing. We went to the beach most days and unfortunately some of the beach came back with us. Every morning though, the rooms were cleaned to the highest of standards, we couldn’t believe it. The balcony was cleaned, the bathroom immaculate, the toilet roll replenished and the beds made. We had a problem with the toilet flushing one day – but this was fixed immediately (and before we had even reported it!).
Restaurant: We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night, and found it ok however being with a vegetarian friend, there wasn’t much choice for her other than an omelette and a salad. The meals all looked nice though and it was full most evenings. We used to pop there for a drink before heading out for dinner and were welcomed every time by the friendly staff. I would definitely recommend the chips! A huge plate and absolutely delicious!
Inclusive breakfast: We were up most mornings at 7 and down for breakfast at 8, this was definitely the best time to be there as all the food was fresh and available. We got down to breakfast about 9 one morning and wondered where all the other hotel guests had come from. The breakfast area, which wasn’t the largest, had bread, honey, jam, boiled eggs, cereal, one large bowl of fruit (we had melon most mornings and then orange), cheese, ham, tomatoes, and a few other bits, and we found it hard to move around with this many people.
Pool: We only spent 2 days round the pool, one to see what it was like and the second time when we were going home. While it was in a good position for the late morning sun to afternoon, it was a bit small with only about 20 sun beds. We enjoyed the beach more and went there most days. Just be aware, they don’t like outside food or drink being brought to the pool area. You can order food though and a bottle of water is about 1 lira.
Location: We were about a 10 minute stroll from a beautiful beach which was accessed by walking down a side road next to the hotel. Once on the beach, sea ahead of you, if you head towards the left side by the rocks, there is a bar where if you bought a drink, they supplied you with umbrellas and cushions. If not, most of the places along the beach supply an umbrella and/or a sun bed for about 4 lira each. A 15 minute stroll will take you to the main area where all the bars, nightclubs and harbour is. We walked here every night and there was always something going on, whether it be boat trips, shopping or drinking. The clubs don’t usually get going till after midnight though! There are many restaurants around the hotel, and there is also a supermarket opposite where they sold water ridiculously cheap. I would recommend the place, Kippis Restaurant. All the staff were friendly, making sure we were ok and the food was amazing. We had a huge Turkish bread starter, which came complementary before the main course, they made a special dish for my vegetarian friend, made sure we had all the drinks we needed, and even the bill at the end was a nice surprise!
Cleanliness: I couldn’t fault the hotel/restaurant/pool area at all. They have a team of very dedicated cleaners, and as stated above, our room was cleaned every morning to the highest of standards.
Hotel/Restaurant Staff: The staff were brilliant, they would recommend places to go, chat to us every day to see how we were. If you are friendly, they are friendly back and they really made the holiday special.
Points to be aware of: The safe boxes are downstairs in a communal area. We were a bit anxious to begin with but there was someone on reception 24 hours and you needed 2 keys to access the safe – you having one, the second being with reception. There is a bag weigher – we were worried about our suitcases being over but we were able to check before we left the hotel. There is a small lift, if you are claustrophobic though, I would avoid this! We learnt a few Turkish words, like hello, thank you, and please and this really seemed to make a difference with the people we spoke to.
Overall, this holiday was amazing, the staff were great, the hotel in a brilliant location and we hope to go back next year. Thank you!
