“Nice hotel for some but not for us !”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

Well we have just arrived home from a weeks stay at the hotel, unfortunately for us things started of on a bad footing , we arrived quite late after a long transfer, first impressions were good until we entered our room, we were put on the 6 floor where the rooms are quite dated and small. We could barely swing a cat and the room had rotten wood and was really dirty, after speaking to reception we were moved to the ground floor to a much nicer room a few days later with no fuss. The staff over all were ok but communication was very difficult and some of the staff could be very rude ! This over the time became a bit frustrating .
Food is plentiful if your an adventurous eater, but did become very repetitive, but was very tasty.
The hotel for us was a bit far out as we like to wander of an evening, there is a hotel free bus that runs 4 times a day that takes you down by Alanya harbour which I would highly recommend but be prepared for a crush on the return journey (40 on a 20 seater mini bus)
If you want a great day out on the boat , book up the Dilara 5, lovely crew highly enjoyable day, and if looking for somewhere to eat along the harbour I highly recommend "The Orange Restaurant, beautiful food with staff that cant do enough for you.
The hotel has a lot of facilities to keep you occupied during the day, although the pools were freezing but we put that down to it being the end of season.
The animation team were great we didn't really get involved with that side of things but watching from afar they really go full out to make your holiday a memorable one , there's few staff that could take a leaf out of there books !
overall the hotel was reasonable clean, lifeguards a bit to be desired (playing cards under the stairs) taking an hour to sweep up a broken salt pot then sweeping it into the drain around the pool was a bit of an eye opener.
Beach is nice although a bit rocky but always plenty of sunbeds and the food in the bar was good.
If you like having beer on tap and location is not an importance then this is a great hotel, unfortunately just not for us

Ok so. I was v worried when reading these reviews thinking it was going to be a nightmare, but we had a great week. Staff are amazing, all very pleasant. Ok some didn't appear to be on laughing gas all the time but they were polite and professional.
Animation team were great, and hotel facilities were good.
It's not a brand new hotel, there were some things that looked a little tired but the place was immaculate, especially the pool areas and the pools themselves. Dining was pretty standard, but plenty of choice, albeit a bit frantic at busy times. A la carte was fully booked so couldn't try it out which was a bit of a shame.
I would happily return here, and so would my kids.

Just spent October holiday week at The Doganay 24th to 31st for my daughters 16 th Birthday, please don't listen to negative complaints, as for the money this hotel is amazing, its by no means a 5 star but is def a 4 star turkish hotel. Cleanliness is outstanding, especially rooms, staff are friendly especially animation team who go all out to make you feel welcome and always stop for a chat, (although the blonde lady in lobby collecting glasses has yet to smile but hey that's just one). Drinks and food is plentiful, a little repetative but beautiful salads, pasta, cheese, the freshest bread ever and chips and grilled meat for the fussy eaters, I dont think there is any part of the day or night that you cant help yourself to food or drink also helping yourself to bottles of red, rose, and white wine was fabulous and bottles of coca cola and fanta at every meal at hand. Free bus into Alanya also available if wanting to shop or visit the beautiful harbour, you may have to stand on return journey but it's free, you would have to stand on the dolmus as it gets busy. to sum it up a very friendly well ran hotel would go back tomorrow. Thank you so much Doganay Staff !!!

Arriving on 13th October 2013 my boyfriend and I had a few reservations having read that some people had problems on check in and told they had no room available. We arrived approx 1 am and had no such problem. The reception staff were very friendly and we were shown to a lovely room which had views out to the hills on one side and the sea to the other side. The room was basic but had everything you needed, spacious enough for the two of us and exceptionally clean. (Housekeeping came in daily) In fact the whole hotel was exceptionally clean, tidy and well maintained. (As some other reviewers have written I did not get any notes asking for tips)
On the first day we enjoyed the turkish bath and massage which I highly recommend, I have had one before and this one was better than before and reasonably priced.
The food was lovely, if you're a particularly fussy eater and limit what you will try then you may find it a bit repetitive but if you're willing to try different things there is plenty of choice. Stay away from the pudding counter; not because it's bad, because it is too darn GOOD! I put on a few extra lbs in weight because of those delicious puddings!! Food and drink is served around the clock, breakfast is 7am - 10am with a more limited late breakfast available 10am - 11am. Tea and cakes are 11am - 5pm. Lunch starts at 12.30pm til 2pm and dinner is 6.30pm - 9pm. There is a snack service doing pizza, pasta, chips etc that runs 11am - 5pm and then Soup counter and late breakfast (great for those arriving very late like us) served 11pm - 6am. Drinks are 24hrs. Sadly I can't comment on the A'La Carte restaurants as we left it too late to book - do it early! You're allowed to eat here once per week of your stay as part of your all inclusive. There is a disco down at the beach running from midnight to 3am which was a good laugh.
The beach was lovely although it was very pebbly and a bit rough on the feet and be careful as you go in the sea as there are a ledges of rocks a few feet in that you clamber over. They're not sharp as such but just be aware they're there. We had no problems getting sun beds and we are not the earliest of risers, we usually didn't get laid out in the sun until 11 or 12 ish plus on the beach there is a chap who will find you some beds if you can't spot any.
There is a free bus that will take you into Alanya (approx 10mins) away where the shops are all very much alike but definitely still worth a visit. Remember to haggle!!!! They expect it!! One great thing we noticed was that nobody hassled you to come into their shops as you were walking about as I have put up with in other parts of Turkey. Once you were inside they were more eager to sell to you but still not what I would call forceful or pestering.
The hotel itself is quite remote but there was fairly decent (not amazing but ok) entertainment on every evening from 9pm and most nights the animation crew organised trips into Alanya to the clubs there if you want to get out and about. We didn't.
If I had to put any downer at all on the whole experience it was the transfer from the airport which is approx 2 -2.5 hrs.
We had a late pick up on the way back to the airport and check out was 12noon, (you can pay extra for a late check out) but it was all ok as we enjoyed our last day with luggage safely stored but accessible for us and we were allowed to use the showers down in the spa to freshen up before we left.
Overall The hotel was clean, tidy, modern decor (quite plush looking actually) and comfortable places to lounge and relax in the evenings. Food was perfectly acceptable and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty to do including water sports at the beach (we went scuba diving) and to be honest I really can't fault it. I'm not one prone to complaining whereas I know some people have particularly high standards and may have different views on this hotel but I genuinely couldn't find anything to complain about. On our last night I asked my boyfriend if he could think of anything negative to balance out this review but he too was full only of praise.
We had a great week here and I would highly recommend it.

Well where do I start?? I have arrived back today after a week stay with my partner my four year old son our two friends and there two children aged 6 and 10, we arrived at the hotel at around 11.30pm our first thoughts where good as the reception and bottom floor looked very clean and very nicely set out we got shown to our room no problem and was happy with what we where given, the following morning we went down for breakfast to find that everything was made with an egg, they had fried egg, boiled egg, omelette, eggy bread, and the boiled eggs were that badly cooked they would give you salmonella just from looking at them, they had pink things which I am sure where Ment to be sausage (you had to be brave to taste one) breakfast was the same every morning it was a sham... And the waiting on staff very rude... Your evening meal consisted of left over lunch or maybe if your lucky they would swap grilled chicken for roast chicken again that was everyday... And please do not eat from the pool snack bar the cook at the pool bar should not be employed she was ignorant, arrogant, and just plain rude... At one point she sat down smoking while there was a cue of kids waiting for the famous burger and chips (again if you can call it a burger) in saying all this I am not a fussy eater by all means but all of us struggled all week... The entertainment of a night time wasn't the best probably because they have to say everything in about 5 different languages which just totally throws you and you get bored of trying to keep up with what is going on... The animation team of a day work hard to keep children and adults entertained and always take time to talk to you and make you feel welcome especial nana... What a lovely person.... Watch for grown men though while round the pool who think it is acceptable to rob a child's crocodile lilo pop it going down the slide then pretend they can't understand what you are saying!! We also visited the beach one day only for my son to get bitten by one of the stray dogs hanging around the hotel, when I finished screaming at reception I got the manager to be told that it's not there fault because it happened on the hotel beach and not in the hotel as the dogs don't go inside the hotel which was the biggest pile of rubbish as the night before it was running round outside disrupting the show and in the day time running round the reception... Because off all this I had to rush my son to hospital for a rabies injection and now back in England he has to have a further 5 injections over the space of a month and is so upset and scared!! The hotel it's self is in the middle of nowhere and unless you are willing to stand on a chocker bus the you will be stranded at this hotel... Another thing aswell is when we booked through on the beach we was told the beach was gorgeous, but I must of been on a different beach as this was just tiny stones not sand! The only two things I can honestly say that is good about this hotel is the animation team in the day and the cleaners who work exceptionally hard always making sure your room was clean and fresh... I will defiantly not be visiting this hotel again and will most defiantly NOT recommend!!!

My boyfriend and I have just arrived back from this hotel after a weeks stay. The hotel is not 5* but for the price we paid for it we couldnt complain. The best thing about the hotel for us was the food, they cater for everyone it was lovely fresh food everyday. I was not keen on the breakfast but that wasnt a problem at the beach bar serve food from 11am-5pm so I just ate there mid morning. The animation team staff were very friendly and work really hard, if you are taking kids they will enjoy the shows. The hotel is very clean and although our room was small with not much space for cothing etc, it was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided.

I must say, there are very few english in the hotel, iv never stayed anywhere with so many germans and russians. It was hard work trying to communicate with people as hardly anybody could speak english!! This got quite irritating. I notice that some comments refer to rude staff....most of the staff jn the hotel are friendly but the guy on reception was not helpful in the slightest and the waitress in the lobby could do with cracking a smile...she was quite rude on several occasions.

The hotel is quite out of the way so it got a little boring to be honest, although there is a shuttlebus that takes you to alanyatown, it comes at funny times. Please DO NOT go to the alanya town disco with the animations team....it was a waste of money. It cost us 50 turkish lira for two cocktails!!!!!!

All in all we had a relaxing week away, the food was fab, the hotel room was clean and comfortable.and the sun was shining so I couldnt really of asked for much more....especially with the price we paid for the hol!! Bargain xxx

I am writing this sat in the Café Hous in the hotel after just checking out.

I must say my girlfriend and I have had a wonderful week, especially for the price we paid.

The hotel is modern, the staff are great, and the pools and beach are wonderful.

I have read people saying that the staff weren't friendly, which to my mind is unfathomable as we were greeted with smiles and helpful waiters eager to converse and improve their English.

As for there being "too many Germans". Get over it. It's not an English-only resort. There are people from all over Europe here and you have to accept that different cultures do things differently.

We had no problems with anyone.

The restaurant is great with a wonderful selection of food. Someone's the tables weren't cleared for new diners quick enough, but that was a small inconvenience and
quickly rectified if you asked the table staff for a clean table.

I would advised to book the fish and/or Italian nights quickly as unfortunately they'd booked up before we could get a reservation.

The shows were good fun unless you're a grumpy boring sort and I must say the Animation team were brilliant and the kids seemed very entertained.

The beach is great and although it is shillies rather than sand, I spent hours fighting the waves and splashing about. Great fun.

The rooms are nice although I had to get a broken toilet seat replaced on arrival (done swiftly and with a smile) they are decent enough and fit for purpose. Just watch for the low walls on the balconies.

The Turkish baths is great. We haggled them down for a body peel, foam wash, massage and face mask. It was brilliant.

I also had two Turkish shaves at the on-site hairdresser which is a must for any man. It's roughly £4 for a Turkish wet shave and shoulder and arm massage.

All in all I would recommend this to anyone, especially young families.

I'd compare it to an English high-standard 3* or maybe even a 4*. It's a 5* by Turkish standards, not UK/US standards. That said, best holiday we've had in ages.

If you want to make the effort to learn some of the local lingo like I did, teşekkür ederim (thank you) goes down very well with the staff.
