The shipyard (Tersane) in Alanya is worth a visit - even if you go to a Alanya for a few days only. But do not expect to spend several hours at the location. But it is interesting to take a look and have a walk - and you do get a sense of how it used to be, when being in use.

The shipyard is said to have been active during the Ottoman period - and build by Sultan Alaeddin Keyqubad as part of his dream to become the "Sultan of two seas".

I went to the actual shipyard by foot and did also sail by as part of the tourist-sailtours offered as a boat ride around the peninsula; also worth doing.

If you go there - it is also recommended to visit the Red Tower (Kizil Kule) and the Castle.

Lovely boats to choose from to go on outings. We never went on any but we could hear them from the beach and they looked and sounded a lot of fun! Shipyard was just down from the castle so could go see both and spend time there if you had an early rise.

The historic Shipyard of Alanya (Tersane) has been beautifully restored. It really feels special walking around where people build and restored ships so many years ago. The natural beauty of the area is worth a visit as it is lovely to look out over the bay through the old stone arches. You can get a combined ticket of 10TL for the shipyard and the Red Tower. After you have visited the tower just follow the signs and walkway to the Shipyard. It is a place that younger children will also enjoy. Do not miss when you are in Alanya.

I bought a combi ticket For 10₺. Which gave me 24 hours to visit the Damlataş cave, the Red Tower and the Shipyard and arsenal. Red Tower and Shipyard or Tersane as it is called here, were built in The 13th century by order of sultan Alaadin Keykubat. New features were added as there was now a katapult on the way near the entrance since I visited last time. Inside was the building of a ship. The construction of arches with windows. Built on a spot where the working men had the most Advantage of the sunlight
