“Good quality, cheap and cheerful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2011

I stayed in this hotel with my partner for a week at the end of June 2011, we are in our 30's and were looking for a cheap sunny getaway (from England).

HOTEL - 8/10 The hotel staff were friendly, very helpful and non-pushy. The sheets and towels were changed everyday and the rooms were cleaned everyday too. The hotel overall was very clean and tidy. You also get FREE air conditioning in every room. The pool was small (as lots are in Turkey), and sunbed space is limited, however the pool was never too busy and a lot of people go to the beach across the road. Drinks and bar snacks were served throughout the day by the pool.

FAMILIES - 6/10 We didn't take children (but do have them), but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to families with small children (under 5 yrs) as facilities were limited. However it would serve as a clean and basic base for young families, if you don't plan on spending much time in the hotel itself (i.e. no evening or daytime entertainment, very small kids pool, not many other kids around).

Food was served from the roof terrace of the restaurant, which had great sea views and was very relaxed. However it did lack atmosphere, and was non-smoking. So most people ate and left.

BREAKFAST 8/10 - We stayed on a half-board basis, the breakfast was absolutely fine, with traditional Turkish breakfast served buffet style every morning (8am-10am), there was a cook there also who would cook eggs to order (omlettes, fried etc). I like the Turkish breakfast so was happy (meats, cheese, bread, tomatoes, cucumber), but you can also have cereals (which were not very nice), toast or freshly baked bread with a selection of jams/honey for example. Yoghurt and fruit were also available.

DINNER 7/10 - Dinner was served between 7pm and 10pm, it was buffet style but served a wide variety of fresh salads everyday (including fresh humous, taziki, coleslaw, olives, stuffed tomatoes, cous cous etc), some days they offered only one hot meat dish which I would say was a down point, they served a stew type dish one day which wasn't very appetising, so it was either salad and bread or eat out. The hotel would do well to make sure they offer at least two hot meat dishes a day. Dessert was Baklava, fruit or chocolate dessert everyday, which was disappointing as they weren't very good quality.

LOCATION - 9/10 Location of the hotel is great, just across the road from the beach and 10 mins walk to the centre of Alanya and 25 mins walk to the Harbour. You can also get buses directly opposite the hotel for 1.25tl (50p) or a Taxi for around 8tl (£3.50).
The hotel itself is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants and you really don't have to go far to find somewhere to drink or eat.

Overall we had a really good stay with no problems, as others have mentioned some rooms face out towards the buildings next door which aren't very attractive. We asked to be moved as we had one of these rooms and without any fuss at all they booked us in for a room change at the next available day, so we at least had half the week with fantastic sea views overlooking the pool.

We met lots of lovely friendly people from all over Europe and found there were always English people around the pool in the day, as as well as German, Turkish, Sweedish etc.

TIP - Don't book excursions with the Rep (as nice as she is), you can get the exact same excursions with loads of agents all over Alanya at literally half the price (just haggle the price down)

Room Tip: Room 210 is 1st floor, with views of pool and sea.

Just returned from a weeks holiday on a half board basis at this hotel. We were allocated a room overlooking the pool with sea facing veiws. The rooms are large with a big balcony and kept spotless. The rooms are cleaned every day and the sheets and towels changed every day as well. There is air conditioning in the rooms, which is free, there are hairdryers in the bathrooms and there are safety deposit boxes. A deposit of 19TL is taken on arrival and refunded when you return the key on departure. Breakfast is typical Turkish with a selection of fresh bread, rolls, jams, cheeses, meats, salad, cereals and boiled eggs. Each day the chef cooks on demand either fried/scrambled eggs, or pancakes. Tea, coffee, diluted juice and fresh orange are available. Dinner again was typical Turkish consisting of soup, salad, a meat course then a choice of sweet. It was always well cooked and plentyfull. The swimming pool area is small but well kept and there is a pool bar serving daytime snacks. If you want a sunbed for the day you do need to get down to the pool quite early as they do get snapped up quickly. The beach is just across the road about 3 minutes walk. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpfull, especially the reception staff who were always happy to help or give advise. The hotel is well situated near the main centre about 10 minute walk or a short dolmus ride with plenty of shops and bars on route. The only downside to this hotel is that not all the rooms have good veiws as earlier reports describe and also you do hear the traffic from the road in front of the hotel, but this would not deter us from staying at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor to front or back

fabulous small and friendly hotel approx 3 minutes walk from the beach. Our room on arrival was the only one left and one that obviously the earlier arrivals had refused. room 114 that looked out onto the car park/rubbish area of the euro hotel next door, but the wonderful Rahmi on reception promised us a room upgrade 3 days later, and we got a wonderful sea view room, so it was worth being patient.. We were booked in for B&B lots of choice but after about 8 days got a bit sick of plastic meat, cucumber, tomatoes and plastic cheese, eggs cooked freshly any way you wanted were done by the chef on request. Evening buffet at 12tl approx £5 for 3 course buffet is lovely, and definately good value for money, only downside is the buffet is served on 5th floor breakfast room, beautiful views but NO ATMOSPHERE OR BAR,so basically nothing to make u want to stay in the room and socialise.
All staff were freiendly, but Ramazan the pool barman was only happy, fun and friendly when is wife wasnt there, she came to the pool with him every day, lay on a sunbed beside the bar, and glowered at any female who tried to have a bit of fun with him, Leave her at home love. you are a much nicer person with out her, she even stormed out yesterday when one of the guests, a 68 year old Gem from Leeds, did a belly dance with him.
BEDS WER REALLY COMFORTABLE, FREE AIRCONDITIONING AND ROOM CLEANED DAILY
We met some fabulous people, english, welsh, turkish, german, swedish and norweigans who helped to make our holiday great.

Can certainly recomment the Miray to everyone

Room Tip: best rooms are ending 02, 03, 04 and 05

The hotel was close to the sea. The city center (port) was 30 min on foot. Room was very clean and comfortable.
There was a wild range of food at the breakfast. Dinner was good and wide range of food.
The pool was small but it was not a problem because the sea was almost other side of the road.
If you want clean, good and cheap place in Alany Miray is the good choice.

What a great hotel, couldnt fault it at all. I emailed before i went asking for a sea view room even though my booking was ROH (run of hotel) I got room 402,Perfect foom, large room with twin beds, large clean bathroom, large balcony. room was spotless, maid services was faultless, lots of clean towels and sheets. I looked in family room basically 1 1/2 rooms but no extra storage, loads of room but on the side of hotel.safe in room.
Its was the start of the season and the hotel was not full but there where various nationalities. All the staff where very friendly and so helpful. The hotel pool is at the front of the property and is adjacent to a busy road to be honest its busy but i still slept on the sunbed. The beach as they say is 50 mts away but the sea is not suitable for young kids as it gets deep very quickly.Breakfast was the same everyday bread, cheese, cold meat, eggs cooked to order, olives, cereal, jam, coffee tea and squashes. We did not eat at night in hotel however those who did said food was good but little choice. We ate localy at Blue Night which served great food and was vfm.
For a truly great meal walk into the seafront area of Alanya and go to MAHPERI - if you call 512 5491 they will pick you up. The food and service was second to none.and still only 35tl or £13 with turkish bread and fruit platter and chocolate cake as a standard on the house.
The walk to the centre takes 15 minutes max,The main road into Alanya is littered with shops all selling the same stuffall trying to get you in the door a polite no thankyoudoes the job when we did shop thet where polite but you have to haggle ...i.e 1 shirt mens - started at 135tl ended up at 40tl - £14, lots of immitation goods but remarkably good quality.
Did the quad bike safari this is a must if you want some fun.

Having stayed at several destinations in Turkey using various hotels I cannot praise this hotel enough. Hope the following helps you to decide:

Hotel Location:
Good Points:
Excellent location, right in the heart of everything, Short walk across the road to the beach, a short stroll to the main part of town, harbour and sight seeing visits.
Bad Pionts:
Miray is situated on a main road and the sunbed/pool area is located on the front of hotel so traffic noise a little annoying but my tip is to make sure you take your music players with earphones and problem solved or just go to the beach where the hotel has discounted sunbeds available.

Hotel facilites:
Good Points:
Large clean rooms with linen/towels changed daily. Roof terrace restaurant serves a buffet style menu which includes a hot food choice. There is a lift available to use. If like us you dont return home until late at night and have to vacate your room, they will keep your cases safe for you so you can enjoy your last day without worrying. They also have a lovely clean bathroom in the lobby for you to change for your return trip if need be. You can even keep your room if not busy, in our case till 3pm with no charge or pay extra for the day if available.
Bad Points:
Have to say cant really find any and thats not me, usually find the odd one !!

Hotel Staff:
Good Points:
Friendly and eager to please, professional and polite.
Bad Ponits:
Very extensive in the German language not so much in english so communication can be a little difficult at times but not enough that it spoils your stay, my tip is too brush up on your basic turkish sayings or point alot...

Although we enjoyed our time there we wont return to Alanya as I dont think it caters for the English as much as other turkish destinations and in some cases found the turkish sellers on the streets to be rather rude towards english holiday makers.
The transfer time of a minimum 2hr (if your lucky as we were) bus ride from Antalya airport is a little draining
I also found the area to be a little more expensive to eat and drink out than others so expect to pay UK prices. My tip, if like me, you like to drink your own bodyweight in beer go all inclusive.............

A very professional hotel, which very friendly and humerus staff. A beach is less than a three minute walk where the cool breeze catches you.

A swimming pool is available just outside, with many sunbeds. My only criticism, is that you have to get up quite early to catch the sunbeds before everyone else does! An all-you-can-eat buffet is available on the top floor, with a beautiful sight.

The food is delicious and has a wide variety at Breakfast and Dinner. Almost every day, they have different things. If that isn't to your liking, there is always the town! Hundreds of restaurants, all waiting for you!

The rooms are comfortable and cozy, with friendly staff making the beds every morning ( unless told not too... )

To conclude, the hotel is very professional and is one of the best hotels I've been in, in my life. Three stars is underrated, because me and my family believe that it should be five stars.
