I'm a British, Turkish guy from Northern Ireland' I went there with 2 Scotish friends and they charged me 10 times more then what my friends paid for the room and when i asked, why? the receptionist said' because foreigners do eat and drink in the hotel with a high price (which turks dont and wont) i told them what if i eat and drink here with my friends and how much for 4 days? then he said ok instead of me paying 70 tl i could pay 60 tl..i've agreed only for 4 days 240 tl ( 100£) still far to much what my friends paid for it! my first night room was someone elses room, had to move to other room next day and my next rooms balcony door lock was on the floor and wont open, tv wasnt working, closing and opening doors far to noisy! the pool to small, the staff very sneaky and unfriendly, all they wanted was either money and women! my room was cleaned only once! sleeping nights is a nightmare! the only good thing was the danish receptionist!

My sister and I just returned from The Mitos in Alanya yesterday. The apartment we had was pretty good, large rooms and large balcony. Maid serivce was excellent. We could not lock the balcony door and as we were on the first floor we did not feel safe, reported it, but nothing was done. Had trouble phoning to confirm our airport pick up so asked the Manager to help, he used his mobile for us and charged me 20 TLS (about £7)!! the staff were unfriendly, I think because they expect you to eat in their restaurant all the time, we did have a breakfast and a lunch and a few drinks in it, but did not like their attitude. Met this Turkish guy who was also staying there, he got a 2nd class service, and paid almost 4 times what we did. Maids did not clean his room and his balcony was unaccessable (the handles were lying on the floor). Would not go back unless they made a separate entrance for guests to save you walking through the restuarant each time.

Just returned from a fortnight's holiday at the Mitos with my partner. After reading some of the negative reviews on here we were a bit nervous about staying there but in general it was fine. We had a few complaints but overall we found it good value for money. I'll outline what we liked about it first and then list what we didn't like so much.

It's a fairly basic, small hotel but is very clean and the staff are mainly helpful and friendly. The rooms and balcony are very large and the restaurant/bar is slightly better than average in our opinion. The swimming pool area was small but fine although we only used it once as the pool was absolutely freezing (I'd imagine that would be a good thing in the later months but in May it wasn't that hot). The sea was a lot warmer. Location-wise it is actually outside of Alanya town (in an area called Oba) which is still a fairly touristy area with lots of shops and restaurants. You can walk into Alanya in about 30-40 mins or alternatively get a bus for approx £0.50 (bus stop is 2 mins walk from hotel and buses are very frequent, we used this a lot). The beach is again 2 mins away and it is cheap to hire a sun lounger/parasol for the day. The beach is a bit rocky, however, at parts.

Things that put us off the hotel slightly:
1) The cleaning/maid service was very sporadic. For the first 3 days we had no-one come in. Then they came every day for a while and then every second day and then back to every 3rd day. I don't mind every second day but I thought 3 was a bit much as we ran out of toilet paper a couple of times.
2) About 4 days in to our stay we were asked to change rooms as they wanted to paint the one we were in. We had no choice and had to move immediately to the room upstairs. The staff helped us carry our stuff but it was a bit of a nuisance having to "up and leave" when we had unpacked and settled in.
3) Hotel was advertised as self-catering but the facilities were pretty poor. In the first room we were in all we had was a fridge and kettle and a sink. No kitchen bin. Once we got moved upstairs there was a bin and a "plug in hob thing" but we never used it.
4) It was very cold in bed on our first night as all they had provided us with was a thin sheet. There were no blankets in the room. We had to ask twice before someone got us one.
5) The hotel is fairly noisy - between other guests in the corridor, staff on the roof above and, strangely, the kitchen staff (very loud) who we could hear clearly even though we were on the top floor - as there was a vent that ran all the way from the ground floor up to our kitchen area. There was also strong cooking smells from the kitchen which wafted up in the evening and was a bit over-powering at times.
6) Basic silly little things like no soap dish and no towel rail in the bathroom. Shower was ok but pretty weak and hard to control the temperature.
7) Position of the restaurant. We noticed a lot of the reviews had mentioned this and were a bit worried about the staff hassling us as you have to walk through the restaurant to exit/enter the hotel. We had no intention of eating there every night as we like to try different places out. This is why we booked self-catering and not half or full board. We found the staff to be ok though, they tried in a friendly way to get you to eat there but they weren't pushy or rude. We ended up eating there 3 times in total and found the food quite nice. It was a bit over-priced and had much the same menu as most other places - pasta, tex-mex, pizza, steaks and kebabs. We found the food to be great quality every where we ate and the waiters were always friendly. The Mitos waiters (like most of the others in Alanya) can be a bit chatty and interupt your meal to talk a lot. This didn't really bother us but it might do some people.

So overall, we wouldn't particularly recommend the hotel but we wouldn't recommend against it either. As long as you don't expect a 5 star hotel with good self-catering facilities in the centre of Alanya then you should get on ok :-)
