The Otantik Hotel is located in a restored Ottoman building in the old city of Antalya. Vehicle traffic is limited as much of the old city is pedestrian walkways so finding the hotel a bit challenging but worth the time. The rooms are small but are decorated and furnished beautifully. The rooms are located above the outstanding restaurant and wine cafe. The wine menu likely one of the best throughout Turkey. The complimentary breakfast was not a buffet but an abundant array of dishes served to your table. The best breakfast during our travels throughout Turkey. We stayed here due to the location in the heart of the old city and for the wine! The owner and staff were kind, friendly and very helpful. The young owner sat and talked with us over an evening bottle of wine and a complimentary assortment of wonderful cheeses and bread.

Location & Getting there: If you are coming from the airport you may get a taxi/shared shuttle. Kaleici (old town) area is around 10 km away from the Antalya airport. We had rented a car (will need some sort of GPS to navigate the streets, though boards are well marked once you get into town) and the drive took us less than 30 minutes. Once you are on the Ataturk Caddesi (street) you will see an entry gate into Old Town (it’s a one-way road so you will not miss it). Get in there and the hotel will be on the first or, second right lane on that narrow street.

Staff: Considering it’s a boutique hotel there will be few staff around. The front desk manager helped us drag our luggage up two flights of stairs to our room. Agree with another reviewer that they were not much help.

Room: We had taken the cheapest room available, which turned out to be a pretty cramped attic. The roof was sloping so you had to be careful not to bump your head on it. The bathroom was small, but adequate. We had a small private balcony to ourselves. Parking is optional and you will have to pay an additional EUR 5/day for it; it is right behind the hotel.

View: None to speak of.

Meals: Breakfast was included and it was surprisingly excellent. It was served fresh and there were some variations on the standard breakfast fare that you will get at other hotels in Turkey. Don’t miss the fresh Mediterranean olives and the sweet paprika. Even though we did not take any other meals at the restaurant (fixed menu), it seemed pretty popular and was full every night.

Town: Antalya itself is a big town so you may need some transportation to get around. You are in the heart of Kaleici, so you can spend lots of time in walking around the narrow streets (and getting lost). The harbor is a 15 minute downhill walk away and you can take in the sights and nightlife there. There are also good shopping/eating district right outside of the Kaleici area.

History & Beaches: Aspendos is 50 km away and has an amazing, well-preserved Roman amphitheater that should not be missed. Perge (did not go there) is on the way to Aspendos and has some great ruins; we realized this when we went to the Antalya museum. Olimpos is 80 km away from Antalya and has one of the best beaches in the country. There are not a lot of tourists around, setting is between mountains is breathtaking, and there are Roman ruins 2 minutes from the beach. A half a day trip is highly recommended and the drive along the coast has some stunning views. Coming back from Olimpos, you will hit the Konyalti beach, which stretches for miles and has lots of resorts and hotels. One of the things that is underrated/not publicized, but should not be missed is the Antalya Archaeological Museum – it has a stunning collection that goes back to the Paleolithic up until the 19th century. You can easily spend a couple of hours there (location near Konyalti beach). Lara beach is towards the airport (we did not go there) and a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

Tips: 1. Hiring a car makes sense in Antalya. Traffic is not bad and if you have GPS, driving is a breeze. You can then cover a lot of places of interest around Antalya. A compact car should not cost more that EUR 30/day. 2. Kaleici is vast and confusing: do not lose your bearings and get a map.

Room Tip: Do not book the smallest/cheapest room. Spend some more or, negotiate to get a non-attic styled room...

We booked this hotel last-minute based on its TripAdvisor popularity. We stayed 3 nights, and were quite disappointed. The staff was nice but fairly useless, lying about getting things done (our room was never supplied with working lightbulbs despite repeat requests) and failing to come through when needed (no wake-up call as requested). The amenities were below average -- tasteless breakfast, awful room towels and a difficult-to-use TV system. The location is very good, convenient to Kaleici and the tourist areas. The place is actually physically nice and somewhat charming, but obviously faded -- it might be ok if it were half the price, or renovated and equipped with a properly-trained staff.

Room Tip: Do not pre-book an economy room (slanted roof) unless you are very small. Ask to see multiple rooms...

I had low expectations of Antalya, but found it very charming. The hotel is in the old down (def place to be) which is traffic free and very quite at night. The hotel is close to everything, even a small beach, and a Haman is around the corner.

Staff is super friendly and helpful w tips. The bar/resto area is very inviting and breakfast is very generous and typical Turkish. The rooms were more simple and I would not describe them as typically Boutique hotel style which does not mean it was bad. Our bed had a fab mattress and the AC worked well. Having only 1 chair, it would have benefited from another one to put your stuff down

Overall I would choose the hotel again if staying in Antalya!

This little historic palace is located near the Harbor inside the castle. The rooms are furnished with great taste and has everything including air conditioning. They cater to all your needs including wake-up calls and breakfast service all hours in the morning. You even have the option to have your breakfast as a sandwich to take with you. They make you feel like you are at home and a family member. The rooms are very clean but does need little repairs in the bathrooms. It is just regular wear and tear stuff! I would recommend this little hotel to anyone who desires to explore beautiful Antalya and wants to have an inexpensive stay.
