“Disgusting filthy hotel”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

At the end of our RSD Travel tour 'On the trail of the apostles in Cappadocia' we spent the final night in this hotel. It is listed as a 5 star hotel, and it really does have the facilities of a 5 star hotel but it has obviously fallen on hard times. The current management team have just let it go to ruin. It is a very impressive hotel from the outside but if you look closely the gardens they are not well looked after, there is masonry and marble falling off the building, the carpet on our floor and in our room was disgusting and ruined with bleach stains, you wouldn't want to walk on it with bare feet. In our bathroom the bidet had been ripped off the wall leaving the pipes exposed and leaking on the floor (see photo), the toilet and toilet seat was filthy, it hadn't seen any bleach or been cleaned in months (see photo), probably because most of the bleach had been spilt on the carpets. The door on our room had previously been kicked in as there was a poor repair made to the door frame. (see photo) The bath enamel was so worn that the bath looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for months.
In the dining room, tiles were missing from the wall (see photo), the makeshift breakfast that we were offered was disgusting, vending machine coffee and a dry cheese any spam baguette.
Fortunately we were only in this hotel for a few hours but I wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel like the plague.

We too were on an RSD tour and found this hotel excellent: we should have been happy to have had longer to explore the grounds and facilities which all seemed in very good order, The range and quality of the breakfast was the best we found in the six hotels we stayed in in Turkey. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It would be churlish of us to be negative.

We were bussed in by a RSD tour: this was a lot better than some of their offerings. We were told it was the 'first big hotel built in Antalia' and it has the air of slightly faded 60's glamour. We were on the top (twelfth) floor so there was a great view from the tiny balcony (room for a couple of people to stand, but no room for chair.) It is only five minutes by taxi to the old city. We saw what looked like a pleasant outdoor area and pool through the windows, but did not have time to investigate.

The entrance had acres of marble, the dining was downstairs and all buffet- style for mass consumption, maybe in other seasons there is some normal restaurant service? It seems a bit sad that what must have been a grand hotel has been squeezed down to economical nosh in bulk. Breakfast buffet was fine, undistinguished but edible. Orange juice was truly horrid. We did a runner in the evening, took a taxi to the old town and had a great Turkish meal in a little cafe, our fellow coach companions said buffet dinner had not been good.
Our bedroom was good, clean and spacious, though they were stingy on pillows- one each. The bathroom was all marble and we found the sewing kit useful for a last minute repair.

We stayed just one night, like many others at the end of an RSD tour, and were buttonholed on departure by a rep. asking if we'd give the hotel a good Tripadvisor report. So I read many of these reports before writing this. I was surprised they were so bad, it didn't seem justified by our experience.

Our room allocation was dealt with by our courier, so we had little direct contact with reception and cannot comment on their attitude/efficiency. The hotel lobby and public areas were clean and smart. We were given an excellent room on the 3rd floor – roomy, clean, modern with comfortable beds, a good modern TV, and a small balcony with good views over the coast and the excellent gardens, which we walked around later.

Breakfast was in the large busy dining room. There were ample supplies and a very good range of foods- not your standard English or Continental breakfast perhaps, but typically Turkish, with an extensive choice of salads, hot & cold dishes, breads, dried, fresh & tinned fruit, etc - better than in many of the hotels we'd stayed in.

All in all we'd nothing to complain about, we didn't find the staff surly as such, more uncomprehending perhaps, but they were helpful when addressed in (my very limited) Turkish.

Five star? Probably not, but certainly a good 4 star rating.

Another big resort hotel with all the usual good points and bad points. On the negative side - microscopic balcony, old analog TV with only one English channel, air-con not working, no info in room about hotel facilities (e.g. room-service number!), generally unhelpful staff, near a very busy main road. On the plus side, very spacious public areas, large & efficient lifts, carpets in rooms & corridors, (side) sea-view. Two bad examples - ordered a toasted cheese sandwich (so it was individually cooked/ made) which arrived nearly cold & the cheese barely melted; asked for some butter at dinner to go with the nice breads, which was refused as a matter of principle - "no butter at dinner!" Ridiculous. Wouldn't like to spend a long time here.

Yet another huge hotel booked by RSD travel as it was near the airport. The room was quite small & we had to shuffle round the bed it was a bit grubby but suprisingly quiet for such a large place which was a relief as it was the only hotel on our itinerary that was! The restaurant self service buffet was ok but a bit of a scrum (especially the breakfast sitting) to get to it as it was busy.

Room Tip: try and get a room on a low level as it's impossible to get the lift down on the day of departur...
