“Exceptional Hotel to Spend Time in Antalya”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 via mobile

Tuvana Hotel is located in the heart of the old city of Antalya. We arrived by car and it took us some time to find the entrance of the old city but the effort was really worth. The hotel is exceptional very posh, tidy and stylish. We did not try the restaurant which looked very nice but quite expensive but ate at the connected pizzeria instead (see my review). The room was exceptional, stylish, cozy, clean, etc.

Breakfast was really good with an amazingly large number of options. Overall a great experience!

This is supposed to be THE place to stay in Antalya. It is a lovely hotel comprised of beautifully refurbished Ottoman buildings. It is in a great location in the Kaleici district. It is, however, not cheap & we found the level of housekeeping to be poor given the room rate.e.g there was no spare toilet paper, no bag to send out laundry (or a list), coffee was not replenished. We had to call for these things & even then were not delivered. - we gave up on a bag for the laundry & went to a laundromat instead.
The reception staff were pleasant & helpful & the breakfast was very good.
One thing that was slightly unusual was having to walk throught the restaurant to get to our room.
I am not sure what the diners think of this.

We stayed at Tuvana in 2013 for three nights. This was our first visit to Antalya and from the moment we stepped into the entrance of the hotel until we departed (sadly) three days later, I can only describe our experience with the hotel and staff as outstanding. This is a hotel that richly deserves its awesome reputation. The staff are all exceptionally well trained and speak perfect English, which is not so common in Turkey. Our room was luxury and very well appointed with handcrafted furnitures and we enjoyed meals and drinks in several of the bars and restaurants. The location of the hotel could not be better and thus our visit has ensured that the next time we find ourselves in Turkey, Antalya and Tuvana will definitely be on the itinerary.

When I travel, water temperature and pressure is definitely in the top three questions I want to know about - rest your fears at Tuvana. 24hrs hot water and the pressure is stronger than in my apartment in NYC!
As for the room itself, gorgeous furniture, comfortable very firm bed, relatively efficient AC and well maintained. Outside of the room, the breakfast buffet was typical of buffets food wise, but the breakfast room was stellar. The private pool is on the smallish side but it's so relaxing you don't mind. The hotel is located on a pedestrian street that is basically dedicated solely to Tuvana. It's in the heart of the old city and you can easily walk to Mermerli harbor (gorgeous place to lay out and swim) from there. I checked out and left my bag with reception while i went for a last soak in the Med. When I came back, I changed in the bathroom where the bfast buffet is served. No problem! I really can't think of a reason not to stay here. A taxi here from the airport (20 mins) cost 40 TL.

My partner and I stayed here for eight nights in the second half of June 2013. Our room was number 301 on the top floor. The Tuvana is made up of several restored/renovated old townhouses on both sides of a narrow winding street in the old town. Our room was in the main building where the reception desk is located. I know nothing of Ottoman architecture but these buildings and their gardens/patios appeared possibly to have been the homes of wealthy merchants or professionals built maybe around 1900. They have been lovingly cared for over the years. There is no central air conditioning and no lift at least in the main building where we stayed.. The ground floor is quite airy and comfortable (it was well over 90 degrees each day we were there.) Our room had an air conditioning unit above the door which we operated with a remote. It was quite efficient and quiet, though it did take us a few days to figure out how to be "just right" and not too hot or too cold. The room was on the small side for two adults but it was adequate. There was a bathroom with a square shower stall, sink and toilet. Plenty of hot water and linens were changed each day. There was very little space for storing toiletries. There was a smallish armoire for clothes and the space inside it was reduced because the safe and the minibar were both in there. Suitcases had to be kept out on the floor of the room. There was a large very private and sunny terrace with two comfortable lounge chairs. The beds were narrow but long and had VERY firm mattresses. Fine for me but a cause for some griping from my friend.

There is a small, sunny swimming pool with room for about twenty lounge chairs around it. The pool was clean and well maintained. Some of the guests "stake out" lounge chairs early in the morning by leaving belongings on the chairs and then going off to breakfast or elsewhere. This activity led to some interesting discussions among guests looking for space at the pool later in the day! There is a large, beautiful and shady garden perfect for reading or relaxing. Dinner is served there in the evening. The breakfast room and additional guest rooms are located in buildings across the street. The breakfast was included in the room rate. The breakfast is certainly adequate and tastey but it isn't going to change your life. Annoyingly, to us anyway, breakfast is finished at 10am! A little early for a resort destination I think. The private restaurant, Seraser, is located next to the breakfast room in a separate open patio and garden. It is lovely and quite elegant. The menu is "continental," fairly interesting and well prepared. Appetizers were more successful than mains. With a bottle of wine the bill was about $135 for two. Antalya is chock full of other restaurants where you can get delicious Turkish food and seafood for far less.

All staff were friendly and helpful and responsive to requests or questions. Like virtually every other venue in the old town of Antalya, cats are ubiquitous, though the staff somehow manage to keep them out of the reception and public rooms of the main building.

If you stay here, come by cab. You'll never find it on your own.

The hotel is quiet and well managed. I can't imagine that any other place in the old town is better than this. The rate including breakfast was about $115 a night.

Room Tip: Just because of the congested slightly medieval nature of the old town section of Antalya, I would p...
