“Royal treatment at Alp Pasa”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

A beautiful old Ottoman mansion with interior garden and swimming pool makes for an idyllic vacation and if things go wrong.... communicate in a friendly manner! That's what happened to us. The first room they gave us was way too small for 2 adults and 2 children for 5 days, so after expressing my concerns in a polite way, they moved us to a luxurious apartment for the same price (obviously, there was extra availability for them to be able to do that). And after sharing our dissatisfaction with a tour they recommended (without asking for our money back or anything free) they sent gifts to our room! The food was very good, the grounds were beautiful, the location superb. We loved staying in Alp Pasa. Highly recommended.

This was a beautiful hotel. The pool was very inviting and looked beautiful lit up at night. The food was really good and the rooms were large and luxurious. A highlight was the shower/jacuzzi that had water jets everywhere.

The reason I didnt score this hotel more highly was that you really feel as though you are more a big bag of money that a guest here. From having to pay 1 Euro for a map on arrival to paying 2 euro per day for the privelage of using the in room safe, it just felt as though you were being squeezed at every turn. Then, at dinner, I ordered a beer and signed off on the receipt. Only later I realized that the carbon copy I had showed a bottle of wine at 43 TL instead of the 8 TL for the beer. Im sure this was an honest error but given the extras being charged for it didnt sit too well.

In addition, our air conditioner barely cooled our room however as the temperature wasnt so high in the room we put up with it.

The only other comment was that in our room (Alpaslan) the noise of people walking around in the room above us was very loud. If you like to get to sleep early, this may be an issue.

In summary, beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms, great location, nice food but a few issues let this hotel down.

This is a very grand hotel, located in the old town. Which is an awesome pedestrian friendly area. Which is slightly away from traffic and manic. It's clients are mainly couples who are young adults to mature adult age categories. It's very romantic and classy. The food is fabulous, and the buffet variety is massive! The hotel has villas 1min walk away from main building, which is beautiful, large and grand... But we spent 1 night there and almost dehydrated due to poor air con and heat. You must realise that Antalya is always hot and humid, a lot hotter than istanbul. The villa air con was playing up and even the taps wasnt giving cold water, due to this we had to go to the main building and complain and had a sleepless 1st night. The next morning they transferred me and my wife to the main building to a grand room with a jacuzzi. The air con was perfect, the decor and size was great. The hotel is situated in the heart of the old city and right next to the main area. There was a hotel caddy if you needed help and everyone knew the hotel as if it was like harrods in the Uk because there's only one Alp pasa hotel. During dinner everything in buffet is inclusive except drinks, which are quite expensive and you can't bring outside food or drink in hotel. The one and main problem we had at this hotel was the pathetic wifi system. The only place wifi is available is in the lobby and eating area and NO WHERE ELSE. You have to obtain a username and password which randomly changed during the day and connection is so poor, that we gave up. It kept disconnecting within seconds. That would be the only main downfall. The hotel is very grand but is pricey. Has its own hamam and provides a really good map but at a cost of 1 euro - nothing is free as they say.

We always book our holidays via a famous internet based travel company, we know the hotel because stayed there in March, there were not any problem and everything was good. In this holiday, as usual we paid before we arrived the hotel, but they wanted extra money when we check in, because we are not citizens of the UK. The management was unfriendly and unprofessional. It was an excellent beginning to our holiday; in that hot weather, we looked for a new hotel to stay in.

Oh how hard they are trying. We traveled as 3 couples and they put us up in a newly renovated house which would have given us wonderful space all to ourselves. This would have been terrific but NOTHING worked, the AC, the power, the hot water! They moved us to other rooms pending getting back to the main building. After a disagreement we got the rooms we were promised. From then on the place was very nice. As a quirky design, they put the pool in the middle of the courtyard that is also the space for the dining area so it limits the times you can relax after a long day. The wifi only works in the common areas not the sleeping rooms. They lost one pair of shorts in the laundry. The staff was very attentive if not always immediately responsive. They are trying hard to please but some seemed to be pleased to by trying.
NOTE the rooms in the main building on the first floor are VERY small and open onto the dining area.

Room Tip: NOTE the rooms in the main building on the first floor are VERY small and open onto the dining area.

Most of the staff were not service minded.
The room was dirty. The towels had holes in them. The bed lines were not clean.
Dead cockroaches were everywhere.
The AC was broken, we asked them to fix it but they never did.
The food was not fresh. Two of us got food poisoned :(
The architecture of the building was beautiful however, I would never stay at Alp Pasa again.

We stayed for 1 week at the end of March 2013. Fabulous luxury high room across the pathway. Balcony overlooking all of Kaleici towards the Sea. Extras such as kettle, jacussi shower, robes, slippers, chairs and table in room. Loved everything about the Hotel - the location which is central to all the amenities - the food which was plentiful, tasty and varied - the staff who were extra helpful - the ambience in the restaurant and the service which was excellent. No negatives at all. Would highly recommend.
