“An oasis right in the centre of the old town”
Reviewed 21 August 2012

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dogan, right in the centre of Antalya, close to all the amenities and sights. It was good just to step outside the hotel into the old town, walk to the harbour or wander through the nearby large park next to the sea.
The hotel is a beautifully designed renovation, set in lovely garden areas. It had an attractive pool area--not large but bigger than most of the city centre hotels and we could always find a place to sit and a time to swim in peace.
Our room was spacious with a huge comfy bed and spotlessly clean. everything worked well and the staff were very helpful. Most of the visitors were German when we stayed.
The food was good, with a buffet for evening meal. We stayed for three nights and I suppose the buffet could become rather boring for a longer stay but the hotel is very close to the old city restaurants and only a short walk from the new city areas.

Room Tip: we had a room in the lower garden on the ground floor and it was lovely

Dogan is a good 4 star hotel in the center of Antalya old town. It does not have more than 30-40 rooms which makes it cosy and the personel being attentive with their clients. There is a nice pool that you'll use it if you want to have a swim as the public beach it's about 4 km away. There is however a very small private beach at a restaurant, but it does not have more than 30-40 places.
On the hotel we chose half board which was sufficient as quantity. Generally I liked the food, but the problems was that was only one meat dish every day and if you did not like that one you should thank with the vegetables ones. Also, the type of foods mostly repeated each day which wouldn't have been a problem for 2-3 days, but we stayed 7. Also, pay attention that the beverages are not included in the price (not even the water) and I don't remember if that was written on the add when we made the booking. And they are not cheap as the alcohol price in Turkey is pretty high. For example one beer was 7 Turkish Lira which means around 3.5 euros.
Anyway, overall the impression of the hotel was good.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms near the banana tree. You will have your own small courtyard shared only wi...

This small hotel has a great location right in the middle of old Kaleici. Rooms are decorated in traditional Turquish stile and they are spacious and quite comfortable. They serve an average breakfast in a nice patio garden and they have a wonderful swimming pool, small but charming and clean. The cons, wifi would only work near the reception area, not in the rooms, and one of the day managers wasn't exactly what you would call a friendly guy. Anyway, the rest of the staff was nice and corteous and we had quite a good experience here.

Room Tip: Rooms by the swimming pool are an excellent choice

The Dogan is a small hotel located in the old walled part of the town and near the port. It is located on a corner of two streets which both slope at angles. The hotel is built around three main courtyards and contains many steps to reach the various parts of the hotel. The restaurant and one of the bars are outside in the largest of the three courtyards (which also contains lush vegetation). A second courtyard contains the hotels small pool. While the room was of a good side, the bath was small. While Antalya is a beach resort, the nearest beach can only be reached from the hotel by way of a 20 min. tram ride followed by a 10 min. walk.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned after staying one week in the Dogan Hotel in Kalechi. We actually had booked the Alp Pasa Hotel along the road but when we arrived at check in at 1am we were told there were no rooms for us much to our surprise (won't be booking with A1 travel again). We immediately thought the worse as you do but were pleasantly surprised by the Dogan and can honestly say we had a great time there.

The hotel was really quiet through the day and night which was really relaxing - even when there were children there. Someone mentioned about noise and a night club but we were not disturbed by any noises and I would say July is peak season.

Our room was a decent size - we had the double room as shown on their website - facing the pool with four windows, aircon was really good, cleanliness in the rooms and around the hotel and pool were very high. Rooms gets cleaned, towels changed every day.

The area where you have breakfast and dinner is quite charming with comfy chairs amongst orange trees and running water which is peaceful. Food was very good and there was always something to choose. I can be quite picky sometimes.

Breakfast consisted of cereal, yoghurt, jams & honey, dried fruit, melon, fresh white and brown bread, butter, chocolate spread, fried eggs, omelettes, salads (a bit weird for me), hams, cheese, tea, coffee, water.

Dinner consisted of a very nice cold turkish meze which was similar everyday - roasted veg, salad, potato salads, dips etc then they alternated the hot food which seemed to be mostly chicken dishes which was good for me as its the only meat I eat and they also had lamb on a couple of days and fish. There was a range of other things from mashed potato, cheesey veg, pasta, filled rice parcels, veg stews, potato wedges, stuffed peppers. Fresh bread was also available, fresh fruit such as plums, nectarines, melon and a different dessert. If you are a vegetarian there was loads to choose from. Also good for meat eaters as there was something different every day.

The staff were very friendly and always made an effort to ask how we were and whether our meal was nice. They speak English well.

The area is very nice. Situated in the old town with its old windy streets 10 minutes walk to clock tower and Hadrians gate, hotel is less than 5 minute walk to the nearest beach and the harbour. I'd probably refer to it as a cove however there is a little sand, water is lovely. Owned by a restaurant, you pay 10TL for a bed and a umberalla as you go in which is the same as paying for a bed on any beach so its 6 and 2 3's really. The cove is nice however it can get a bit cramped around the beds so for this reason we only went twice. We also went to Antalya beach which you can get to using a tram at the clock tower, takes about 8 minutes, costs 1.25TL on the tram and that was the nicest beach we went to. We tied it in with going to Antalya Museum which is opposite the last tram stop. This was a great idea to pass the boiling hot midday sun as there is aircon in there and it was interesting. You may need to walk along the promenade for a good 10 minutes before you find a beach front cafe that doesnt blast crap euro pop but we found one eventually which was really quiet. We also went to Lara beach on one of the days. This is about 30minutes using a bus going the opposite direction to Antalya beach. Its was worth the trip, beach was nice and we tied it in with seeing the International Sandcastle competition which was really good (Theme - Movies) but if you go here get a taxi back as the bus's do a weird route back and takes ages.

All in all a great holiday, great hotel, great area - everyone seemed really pleasant.

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel in the historic Kaleici and really can't think that one would want to stay in any of the hideous resort like hotels that we had to pass on our way! Room was large enough and we had a balcony (ask for one!). Some reviewers complained about the noise - I don't know from where?! The harbour area maybe ... (touristy!) Layout of room was peculiar with steps leading to the bathroom which had a strangely angled low ceiling! But then remember this is an old Ottoman house - so one suffers with a smile for ambience and authenticity! Room had aircon and ceiling fan Loved the outside areas and the pool area was particularly blissful (there is a so called beach close by which you have to pay 10lire for, but really too many sardines in that tin for my liking). Breakfast had a great selection and one could order eggs to taste. A VERY happy experience!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony!

The Dogan is in a great location in the heart of the old city. The room was very good, large and with a good bathroom. The breakfast is excellent, lots of food and good quality in a lovely garden setting. We didn't find the staff overly friendly and a requests about laundry were met with an unhelpful response.
