“We really splashed out staying at the Marmara”
Reviewed 30 July 2010

We really splashed out staying at the Marmara, but it was absolutely divine and worth every penny. It was stunning, set over several levels down to the beach and pool. The food at the restaurants was excellent, and the atmosphere over the whole resort was so tranquil and you felt very special staying there (helped by the excellent service). I normally prefer smaller, boutique type hotels but because of all the space and the way it's laid out it felt very private. There is also a great place in oldtown, called Seraser with a great staff and lovely atmosphere. I think it is the only place to dine out in Antalya,if you are looking for culinary show. I would highly recommend this hotel and the restaurant for a couple of days of luxury and pampering.

In the Thomas cook brochure it gives you the impression that you are staying in the luxury revolving loft hotel. When we arrived we didn t get the loft. We got two rooms on the 17th floor one room was over looking a block of apartments where you have to pull the curtains to stop people seeing into your room as it was so close. The other room was over looking the city and mosque. the noise was terrible from the car rental opposite the hotel with ferraris and lambourghini' s racing past.. The hotel rooms was depressing as the ceilings were like underground car park also it is a corporate hotel mainly for bussiness and weddings more so for the eastern europeanis s.This hotel is very unfriendly and rude which made us feel unwelcome. I certainly wont recomend this hotel to anyone.

The staff were courteous, the hotel was stunning and full of little touches that really made us feel special. Loads to explore around the area and everyone was so lovely and helpful. I can't wait to go again, and since the place was such good value, we should be able to!

I have just returned from Turkey, we stayed at this Hotel for two weeks in which time we enjoyed the beautiful pool and surrounding gardens of the 'Marmara' unfortunately it was the worst 5* hotel that I have ever stayed in..... the hotel rooms were the most depressing rooms ever!!! with ceilings resembling an unfinished underground carpark! no tea/coffee making facilities, even though we were only on a B & B basis, the prices in the hotel were absolutely extortionate and we were not allowed to take anything to eat or drink into the hotel at all as they had security staff at the door round the clock.... we were treated very rudely by the other eastern european guests, and got the distinct impression that the english were not liked at this hotel at all....
Would definately not return to Turkey after this experience.

Positives - Great pool, Decent beach (rock/no sand - sorta makes you feel like ur in a Bond movie! great views, lovely gardens, spa and turbish bat/steam rooms, very clean, efficient staff - not a great deal of english spoken and that's about it...now the negatives...rubbish decor and fittings, lamps with loose wires, concrete ceilings, no balconies, sometimes no english understanding at all ( and trust me we learnt the basics!), way overpriced drinks, not even water allowed in, security check every time you walk in the front door (feels like a prison), nothing for miles, a good hour walk at least to Antalya center, no entertainment unless you like suicidal love ballards every other night, ladders down to sea and diving board rusty and dangerous!...phew and it goes on ...food is either really nice or pure salt and geletain eek! Definately not for kids - absolutely nothing for them to do, obvious con as ur shown to the worst rooms and charge you stupid amounts for a decent view upgrade, lifts cut out constantly (not so good if ur on the 22nd floor).

Overall this is NOT a holiday area or hotel, it's for business with leisure facilities. We did meet some crackin people over there though brought together by the sheer rubbish of everything and reccommend a few things if u do come here...

BE PREPARED IT ISN'T CHEAP AT ALL - win the lottery
DO NOT BOOK THE MAGAVAT MARKET EXCURSION -absolute tosh!
DO BOOK AND ENJOY THE VANILLA LOUNGE - anatalya center - a crackin night!
AND DEINATELY BOOK WHITE WATER RAFTING -amazing no matter what age!

returned from holiday 17th july 2010 and couldnt wait to give a review to stop other holiday makers from making the same mistake as we did thinking you were in for 5 star luxury. Our main complaint was being forced to pay extortionate prices for water and drinks from the hotel service as bringing in from outside was not allowed and regular searches of your bags were done and if any food or drinks were found immediately confiscated.Guards were placed and watched us constantly to make sure we didn't break the rules of the hotel policy.occasionally we risked hiding it in bags and smuggled water and a few cans of beer in but found it too stressful.water was £2.50 litre beer £6 pint bottle of wine £35 bottle. hardly any entertainment was on and the beach was just a platform. rooms were cheaply decorated but comfortable and very clean.a few restaurants nearby were good but often pricey. the best idea was to take a taxi into town of Kereici for around 13L (£6.00) great restaurants shops and music bars and plenty of things to see made it a worthwhile and was the highlight of my holiday. several of couples were so dissappointed with this hotel they asked to be flown home during our 2 week stay but the cost of flights were too high. in all too many tourists were unhappy so please anyone reading this take note and look for something else.
i would like to say hello to some Brits we met and helped made our holiday better than it would have been hi Ade and Max, Graham and Nell and Dianne and zoe hope you all got home safe. we enjoyed your company.

This hotel is very suprising! I read the reviews on here and waited with bated breath to see what this hotel would be like and to be quite honest..... i loved it! Beautiful gardens with double swings dotted around. Immaculate reception and very impressive rotating wing. Just to give you an insight, i have stayed in 5star hotels before and this one is the most informal i have ever stayed in which is just what you want when you are on holiday! The dining/communal area has 2 swings dangling from the ceiling, a climbing wall a mini library and a mini art gallery. The rooms are every spacious with welcoming air conditioning and feather pillows!! Please do not be alarmed but the ceilings are painted concrete but it all just goes with the contemporary look. To get to the man made beach, you go down a lift at the back of the gardens and down into the ground and come out in 30metre long tunnel in the rock..... keep walking to the end to see a little bit of paradise at the end....... absolutely stunning.
