We returned from the Limak Lara a week ago after having a truly fantastic holiday.
We, myself husband and 2 boys (5 and 7yrs) spent 11 days and nights and honestly have nothing to complain about.
The rooms: we were on the 1st floor, plenty of room for the 4 of us (standard room), air conditioning was excellent, cleanliness excellent, mini bar stocked by 10 am every day, kids loved the cola and fanta, we enjoyed the beer, maybe more than 2 cans would have been appreciated each day!
The Pools: amazing! We spent most of our time around one of the 3 'kids' pools as the boys spent all their time on the slides or in the splash pool, incredibly well life guarded, sometimes they ere a little whistle happy, but we felt very confident letting the kids go off and play whilst we relaxed in the (very hot) sun!
The main pools were a little deep for the kids so we did need to supervise them in there but we enjoyed going on 'the journey', going around every one of the pools!
Sunbeds: At the beginning of our holiday we had no issues here, as the hotel got busier we did need to get up and as much as I hate to do it 'reserve' our beds, I've come to realise that these days it is the norm :-(
The beach: great! not my ideal place to be as I can't bear the sand getting everywhere! However the beach was clean, well serviced and very nice to go to, the pier was lovely and again there was a life guard on hand.
The food: no complaints there! The main buffet restaurant was always well stocked with many different types of foods, lots of freshly grilled items, plenty of salads, national dishes, international dishes, trust me you could not go hungry!
We choose to eat at the 3 free a la carte restaurants on 4 occasions, each was great, the Turkish was superb so we went twice, Tandori was also great and the Fish was very pleasant sat next to the beach.
Thoroughly recommend visiting them, booking was not a problem, service was great it is a great respite from walking two kids around the buffet getting them to decide what to eat as at these restaurants you choose from a menu.
Through the day you had many restaurants and snack bars to choose from, we preferred either going to the buffet for some air conditioned respite or to the Fish restaurant (Sandals) as the breeze from the sea hit you there!
If pizza and burgers are your thing the Raven provided this during the day.
The entertainment: again no complaints, a very professional set up, talented team who provide enough entertainment throughout the day if you want it and some enjoyable shows in the evenings, if its not your thing the hotel has so much space and in the evening the Oasis bar is a great bar to sit, play cards and relax in.
Do go to see the Mama Mia show and the Russian Childrens Circus, which was amazing!
Kids used the kids club on a drop in basis, went on a banana boat, organised by the kids club (10 euros each), went to a magic show and did a bit of 'art and craft'. The girls running this were all great with the kids particularly as many nationalities were there.
Hotel in general: this is a big hotel with 500 odd rooms, however if you have booked this you will have known that so don't be surprised to learn you have to do a fare bit of walking to get around the complex.
We found that walking was quicker than waiting for the lifts and meant you discovered bars and areas that if you get the lift every time you may not have stumbled across.
The hotel is clean, staff are very helpful and work so hard to make your stay enjoyable.
This is an international hotel, Danish were probably the majority with Germans and Russians also, not a huge amount of British which for us was fine. We had been warned of 'pushy' foreigners being in Turkish Hotels, we did not experience any of this, everyone was polite and courteous.
We had a small incident requiring a hospital visit after my son split his head open, the service and care the hotel gave was great and left us feeling assured that all would be ok.
We could have been anywhere in the world as we only left the hotel for about 1 hour to visit the shops, this was exactly what we wanted, the point being if you are looking for Turkish culture, Lara Beach is not the resort for you, but if you want a stress free family friendly holiday with a short transfer time then it is perfect!
All in all a great holiday, I would have no reservations about returning to the Limak Lara and hope all who visit have as great a time as us!
