We enjoyed yet another good holiday at Limak Lara. The hotel is always lovely and clean, the grounds are always in tip top condition and the Staff are very friendly.
I must say that Emre the Guest Relations Manager is such a good help and does a fantastic job, along with the rest of his Staff.
The entertainment isn't as good as previous years, but this is no reflection on the wonderful team that are there at the moment, it's more to do with they are a much smaller team and have no time to do all the funny stuff they used to do. The shows that were brought in were either a hit or miss, if you like to watch dancers, then you'll be happy. The magic shows are a tad childish and are more for children, the drifters were a good night, but the best night was still the Entertainment Manager doing his boxing, I have seen this about 4 times and still enjoy every minute of it. The 3 girls who look after the children and do the kids' disco are fantastic, the children love them.
Food at the hotel is still very good and you'd be hard pushed not to find something you don't like. They do tend to cater more for the German and Turkish guests, but there is still something for everyone.
The rooms are spacious and well kept, however we were in a family room ( we did book two rooms originally) and got upgraded, but I feel we should have kept to our two rooms as we were falling over each other and the lounge had to be used as a bedroom, so hindsight we should have refused the "upgrade". I think the family rooms are in need of a refurbish too. Having said that, we were only in our room to sleep, so no problem really.
All in all you will certainly not be disappointed if you book into this wonderful hotel, we have been 4 or 5 times.
My one observation with Turkey though is the high prices for shopping. The shops outside the hotel are so pricey, they want 50 euro for a fake Gucci, mulberry, etc purse and 150/200 euro for fake handbags, it's a joke, if you try to haggle, you may be lucky and get 5-10 euro off a purse and up to 30 euro off a handbag, but way over priced for what your buying. Plus all the shops ask for the euro!!!

Laste week we were there. Kids animation was great. The room was big, staff friendly. We were a bit dissapointment at the food. Food on bbq was good, fish were all panfried. Other food was Turkish ok, but Thai or Indian or Chinese were not good. Fruit: no watermelon! Swimming pool water was only 19 degrees. Afternoon snack: cake/waffel till 5pm. Doner Kebab: officially till 5pm, but 2 x we were there at 4pm and it was finished. Dinner starts at 19:00.

Opposite they are building a Mosk I think. Now at the east side they are building the Sherwood hotel. Quite noisy.

Went to the Limak for 1 week (2 adults + 13yr old son), flew Good Friday (18th April) with Monarch from Manchester, booked via Travel Republic 10 months ago so flights with 2 bags plus accommodation (standard room) just over £1100 all in, extremely good value. Hit the jackpot with the weather, as we arrived temps hitting 20’s, not a drop of rain during daytime hours, hardly any clouds and by end of week hitting 30 degrees at peak. At night obviously cooler but by end of week we were sat outside in short sleeves and realised we’d took far too many hoodies etc. Loads of seating areas indoors if the weather isn’t as kind.

Having been to the Concorde and Voyage, we are well versed in what to expect from Antalya and I can honestly and genuinely say the Limak is as good as we’ve been to, and in some areas much better. The main season doesn’t officially start until 1st May so the Turkish Ala carte wasn’t available, some of the slides weren’t open for the first few days, the animation team weren’t up to full speed with pool games etc, the beach pier was being refurbed and all but the last evenings shows were not on the main outdoor stage. Added to which the Sherwood next door is having a full refurb so despite emailing in advance we were allocated a room facing the building works which we were moved from the following day. These elements were reflected in the price so overall we took the view that 95% of facilities for 70% of the price but worth considering as Easter is very early in 2015.

We had a standard room and after moving to the side facing the Concorde found it perfectly acceptable, free safe, plasma TV on wall, decent sized balcony, double bed plus single bed, plenty of wardrobe space, good size bathroom with robes etc. The family rooms are mega though, two floors with several bathrooms and jacuzzi so if you have 2 teenagers who need privacy, I’d recommend paying the extra. The hotel is over 10 floors, we were on floor 2 which is actually floor 5, beneath which is the lobby/reception/main restaurant and then floors -1 & -2 to access the pool. The lifts are slow so we did the stairs a lot, not a bad thing when on All Inc and I understand due to H&S regs Thomas Cook guests are only allowed on first 2 floors.
Check in quick (no wrist bands although this may change in main season) and bellboy for room move was very efficient. Rooms cleaned every day, mini bar restocked and fresh towels, but to be expected for 5* in Antalya. Beach towels provided in room, problem with safe resolved efficiently, managed to extend room booking til 6pm as our flight was late night (albeit we had to move rooms) for 45EURO, cannot fault the staff, management very visible during day. Special mention to a few of the staff: Emre on guest relations who resolved our room swap and other minor issues and was generally very helpful indeed. We hired a pavilion around the pool twice and the service from Engin was amazing, treated like gods for the day, he works his proverbial off all day, non stop. And Sasha on the animation team, good banter on the darts and pool activities.

Nationality mix was mostly British and Dutch with less German and Russian than at other hotels in region, we thought the atmosphere around the pool and in the organised events was very relaxed and in great humour, made the holiday very enjoyable. The animation team we’re just getting up to full speed during our stay, so by the end of the week, water polo, darts, rifle shooting, inflatables etc all running daily, very good at encouraging involvement for the kids, remembering their names, something for all age groups, on balance probably the best animation team we’ve experienced.

Food – excellent, huge amount of variety in the main restaurant (largest main buffet Ive been to), loads of meat and fish choices, show cooking outside, more salads and sweet options than you can shake a stick at, standard wise on a par with Voyage Belek imho. The coffee from the machine isn’t great but there is squeeze your own orange juice machines and the table service for drinks is generally very quick. The queue for the omelettes at breakfast is the only real negative, unless you are up and in before 8am, you wont eat together if one of you insists on having an omelette. A special table was organised for us on our last night, cake with names and ages of children, its those kind of details that will ensure the hotel stays up there on Trip and encourage repeat bookings.

The facilities are of a high standard, the pools were freezing (normal at time of year) but there is a heated indoor pool with a slide which is unusual, the outdoor slides are ok for up to 6/7 age group, teenagers may be a little underwhelmed if looking for waterpark adrenalin rush type stuff. That said, there is a disco/nightclub for teens which is a bonus. Watersports are available on the beach (sandy and clean with free sunbeds always available), kids in our group did the sofa bed, 15EURO each which is a little expensive but 10 mins of fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN1mtI5aqqA

The in-resort stores give option to buy inflatables, balls and genuine fakes, on one night there were outside stalls with likes of DRE Beats, belts, football shirts etc, decent prices if you’re prepared to haggle ie threaten to walk away. Didn’t venture out of the hotel other than a walk on the beach so cant comment on local stores/malls etc. Have to say though cos our son had a group of friends, we took £200 in Lira and brought £80 back, that is a first for us and says a lot for the entertainment. WiFi is free once registered and can be picked up all around the resort, strong enough for Skype and Facetime in rooms and reception.

Overall, up there with the best hotels we’ve stayed at and probably the best weeks holiday ever for the money we paid, that good in fact maybe time for us to challenge our never go back rule. When looking for next year, will certainly benchmark everything against the Limak (price, location, facilities, etc) and I suspect alternatives might not offer anything close in terms of value.

Room Tip: Avoid Sherwood side and floor A.

We stayed at limak lara from 6th april to 20th in group of ten 2 of them children,i must say this hotel is just first class the staff cant do enough for you & they work their socks off.Beautiful gardens many pools few slides & lovely beach & if you like cats there is plenty & they are very friendly. We had a family pool access room which was huge plenty of room for family of 5 only problem we had our back balcony looked over major building work at sherwood brezze hotel next door which didnt bother us really as we had front terrace to our room aswell so sat out there but the contruction workers start bout 7am & finish at 8pm so bit noisy so if u want a lay in u wont get one if you stay that side of hotel.Entertainment first week bit useless but second week improved alot.Food very good even though we think the main people they cater for are the germans but still enjoyed the food.We have 11 year old twins enterainment for that age is zero but they still had best time. The animation team only seem to work part time some days didnt see them at all.Had bus trip to city of antalya had to stand on bus for 40 mins what a nitemare and shops no different to the ones right near hotel & antalya bit like london crazy place wouldnt recommend.Very lucky with the weather very hot only had 2 days of rain, over all our stay at limak lara was a fantastic experience would defo stay there again.

Room Tip: Dont get room sherwood hotel side as major building work

We recently returned from a fabulous holiday at the Limak Lara, we stayed for nine nights and were so impressed by both the friendly staff, facilities and wonderful food. We thought the choice in the main buffet was excellent, our 14 year old daughter enjoyed squeezing her own orange juice at breakfast and helping herself to honey from the honeycomb. We also ate in the Mexican, Italian Enjand Japanese/Thai restaurants which were all superb, we especially enjoyed the evening in the Italian, the food was first class and there was a singer and keyboard player who helped create a lovely atmosphere. Even though the hotel was full during our stay there was always somewhere you could find to chill out and relax and it never felt crowded. Our daughter also enjoyed the indoor pool, waterslides and we just loved relaxing round one of the many pools. All the staff we met were helpful, polite and very professional, special mention to the two ladies in Guest Relations who we met a number of times when we were booking the a la carte restaurants and they also came and chatted to us round the pool, all the waiters were great but Enjin was fantastic so friendly and we looked forward to being served by him at the lunch time snack bar, he soon remembered that my husband and I liked a glass of rose with lunch and our daughter coke and kept our glasses topped up, he is a credit to the hotel and we were so pleased to have met him. We would also recommend the speed boat trip that we took from the hotel beach, it was a great way of seeing the coast line and visiting the waterfall and caves. We had the most relaxing holiday and will definitely come back to the Limak Lara.
