Likya Residence and Spa

Certificate of Excellence

We have just had a brilliant week at the Likya Residence. We absolutely loved it. It is not an all singing all dancing five star hotel but it is charming and the staff were all excellent. Everybody else we talked to who were staying at the hotel had the same opinion and many seem to have been several times before. You could be picky but we have stayed in much grander places with better facilities however I rate this as one of the best overall holiday experiences we have ever had. We met some really nice people and have made some new chums as a consequence. We drank a lot, laughed a lot and ate a lot. I would like to mention the restaurant team who not only served up excellent food but also had an excellent front of house team headed up by Muhammad who did anything he could to keep us happy. If you are ultra picky then maybe this is not for you and if I am honest I think it is best suited to over thirties as it really isn't very rock n roll and there is no banging night club to be found. One thing to note and a minor gripe was that the pillows and bed were very hard....if the hotel are reading this please change your pillows!! We don't like going back to the same place twice but for Kalkan and the Likya I think we will be.

Room Tip: South side have the best views.

I am staying at this hotel at the moment and after just reading a previous negative review felt I just had to comment. Yes the reception area is small but this is a boutique hotel and adds to the ambience of the hotel and the balconys are tiered but I certainly would not say in anyway they are overlooked...The rooms are lovely and very tastefully designed. I have stayed at many hotels around the world and I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others. The staff, manager cannot do enough for you and the views are beautiful.

What is it about the Likya that we are not seeing but others do? Perhaps it's because we stayed at the Asfiya the week before and we were comparing them? On the positive side, the Likya has fantastic views over the bay of Kalkan. The rooms are airy and bright and clean. However, the place lets itself down on the finishing touches that you would expect from quite an expensive hotel. Try finding the milk on the breakfast buffet -it's in a small tea pot! There are baskets of tea and coffee on your table at breakfast but these are not replenished daily. If you need a tea spoon to eat your boiled egg with then use the one provided with your coffee cup or be prepared to try and catch the eye of the passing waiting staff. The waiting staff need to be trained in how to serve as leaning across us and clearing plates before we had both finished isn't really good enough. The fresh fruit salad on the buffet was lazily prepared, containing some tinned fruit and old apple. Yes - these are little niggles, but this attention to detail is something that the Asfiya gets right but is missing from the Likya.

The pool area and sun loungers looked tired. The sun lounger covers have been there for years and looked like it. There are wooden slats all around the pool and sunbathing area that hadn't been maintained over the winter months so were raised, faded and dangerous to walk on. The woodwork fence around the pool had been whitewashed, but it had been cheaply done so was splitting and looked below par. When we raised this with the hotel we were told that the owner wanted the area to 'look old'.

We'd return there for a drink and to admire the view, but that's about it.

First impression upon arrival, pokey reception area and manageress sipping refreshment in room opposite with friend (Rep. of a Tour Co.). This lady couldn't be bothered to greet us properly and take us to our room - this was left to her young assistant.
Bedroom well located at end of building facing the sea but balcony had no partitions and was overlooked by 5/6 other balconies. Room crudely finished as if builders had moved out before finishing. It felt cold and inpersonal, bed was hard and towels not very soft compared with where we had just left.
On the plus side - the breakfast was excellent. The staff also very helpful and couldn't be faulted. The young restaurant manager worked as hard as his staff - a first class team. A pity the manageress did not exude the warmth and friendliness of her restaurant staff!
We shall not go back to Hotel Likya although we shall return to Kalkan.

Room Tip: Location of room very nice but didn't rate room itself.

Kalkan has great nightlife but once you get to this resort, you might not want to leave! Overlooking the sea, this spectacular resort is perfect for a getaway, and popular with Brits. We had Room 100 which has direct access to the infinity pool so it was like we had our own private pool. Dinner was a bit expensive but the presentation was like mini works of art. Included with dinner was a tiny coal brazier for toasting your own bread, appetizers of mini pide, hummus, and salsa, and a lime sorbet palate cleanser before the main dish was served. Incredible, plus you dine al fresco. Service was terrific! What could be more romantic?

As for the room, it's large. Beds are firm, bath has shower only-no tub. No makeup mirror, and hot water in the shower takes a bit of time to arrive but plentiful once it does. Great view of Kalkan and the harbor. We loved out stay here and wished it could have been longer.

The breakfast buffet was the best I have had in Europe: extensive fresh fruits, fresh crepes and omelettes made to order, fresh squeezed orange juice, a grill for making your own toast...I could go on and on! Clearly, management is dedicated to providing superior service and a stellar experience...with us, they most certainly exceeded this goal!

We deliberated a lot over booking this hotel it was far more expensive than any others in our short list but after reading the trip advisors reviews and going on their website numerous times we decided to treat ourselves.

I am so glad we did. We absolutely love this hotel and feel it is worth the extra you pay.

The rooms are enormous, we stayed in a deluxe suite which is the standard room they offer. All rooms face the sea and you have an incredible view over Kalkan bay from your balcony.

The staff are very attentive and go out of their way to make your holiday special. Nothing is too much trouble, they even do complementary tea and cakes two afternoons a week.

The food at the hotel was the best we ate in Kalkan and although there are hundreds of restaurants in Kalkan we ended up eating here 3 out of our 8 nights :-)

Nearly everyone staying here were repeat customers and we have just booked to come back in Oct. We never come somewhere twice preferring to go to new places every time we go away but we couldn't resist.

Thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful stay

Alice and Javed

An excellent hotel, which exceeded our expectations . The staff could not have been more helpful. Muhammet Guven the food and beverages manager was particularly attentive and courteous. The hotel is well situated with beautiful views of the coastline and mountains, circa 10 minutes walk to Kalkan. The food and spa facilities were very good. All the staff without exception were friendly - nothing was too much trouble. We frequently stay at Relais and Chateaux hotels and the service at this hotel was better than many in that prestigious hotel chain. We will definitely return to this hotel.
