“Perfect location”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

A good, basic hotel. Very clean, and perfect if you are planning to be out and about most of the day. I'm not into sitting buy a pool but for B&B it is quite the perfect location in Kalkan. Breakfast is fine but dinner is a real hit and miss. Staff are kind, diligent and always willing to help. The bar is great with the fantastic Regge running it like clockwork and always with a smile, a chat and a warm welcome. Rooms are basic but have all you need.

Second time in Kalkan, staying at the Hotel Pirat.
The best things are the staff, who are so welcoming and friendly and that the hotel is perfectly placed on the harbour front, no walking up hill to get home!
The rooms are clean and tidy, good air condition, which is a must in the heat. The hotel does not seem to attract people who get up at 6 am in the morning to put their towels out by the pool so no bun fight for the pool side loungers thank goodness.
Overall a lovely stay, definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: If you want a lift to your bedroom, stay in the Pirat across the road, there are not lifts in the ma...

So I've managed to sit down and type up a review about my stay at the Pirat Hotel. It was my first time in Turkey but I'm already planning a holiday for next year in Kalkan. The Pirat hotel is situated in the heart of Kalkan right by the harbour and most of the shops and restaurants are a stones throw away.

There are actually two parts to the hotel and I stayed in the hotel without the pool and bar. But I understand from other holiday makers who have been before, that if you email the hotel direct then they will tend to place you in the Pirat 2 with the pool. But in saying that I didn't mind staying the Pirat 1. I stayed in a two occupancy room with single beds which was comfortable with a small balcony and air conditioning. With regards to the air conditioning you might need to tweak it a bit before it feels right.

The hotel is clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for them. I was a solo traveller who met quite a few other holiday makers during my stay in Kalkan and once they had all gone home. The staff made sure that I was well looked after.

I went half board and found the food to be ok. I'm not much of a breakfast person but when I did venture to breakfast it consisted of hard boiled eggs, cheese bread and olives with the refreshments. The evening meal was a soup, meat, fish and veg with a selection of salads and pudding treats.

This was my first time in Kalkan and I love my heat but it even I found it too much to bear in the first few days so I would advise that you drink plenty of water and avoid staying in the sun too long. Kalkan is hilly which I found out to my shame after walking up what I fondly called cardic hill and then someone told me that its slightly easier to walk up the stairs situated next to the hotel or take the scenic route round by the harbour.

There are several cash points based in the town all of which are situated further up in the town and there is one my missilver in the main shopping part of town.

Kalkan is great, good weather, lovely people and there are so many restaurants to try. I can't wait to go back :)

Room Tip: The mosque is situated at the top of the hill so you will hear the call to prayers a lot. Learn how...

Just got back from a week in Kalkan where we stayed at the Hotel Pirat. It was my first time to Turkey but it definitely won't be the last. The hotel is in a brilliant location, it's clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much hassle for them. I must admit the breakfast wasn't really my thing, quite a bit of salad, and some hot food but I just filled up on toast. The food at meal times was lovely though, no faulting that. The views from the hotel were great overlooking the little harbour and its just a short walk into the town. I would recommend this hotel to anyone although one thing I would say about Kalkan is it's quite hilly so be prepared to do a bit of climbing.
All the people there are so friendly and welcoming and I can't wait to go back next year. All the restaurants look nice but we found 2 in particular, Lipsos, which overlooks the little harbour, they serve a mean Meze and the Calimari is pretty damn good too and then there is Belgins Kitchen. You walk upstairs onto the rooftop and sit on cushions on the floor, very authentic, and again the food is great.
If you stay at the Pirat look out for Reggae, one of the guys behind the pool bar. They are all a good laugh but him in particular, tell him lobster bob says hi, he'll know who you mean

Room Tip: Rooms on the pool side sen a bit nicer than the reception side but if you are in one of the higher r...

Hotel pirat is situated very close to the harbour with excellent rooms. Kalkan can get very hot in summer and the air conditioning, pool and bar are essential, and pirat has it all.
Kalkan in a very trendy location with lots of great open air restaurants.
And pirat hotel is right in the centre of the action.

Room Tip: Room with view of harbour

our fifth time in Kalkan but have always stayed in a villa and thought we would give this hotel a go.
You will not get a better location.... Right by the harbour with stunning views. the shops at and restaurants are literally just on the doorstep.
The staff are wonderful.... Genuinely caring, lovely sense of humour and go out of their way to ensure you have a great time.
yes... There are a few steps up to the rooms but Kalkan is built on a hill...hence the views. if you can't cope with a few steps then don't come to Kalkan in the first place.
The breakfast is typically Turkish... Fresh squeezed orange juice and omelettes available. The evening buffet is again typically Turkish....if you want English food then stay at home.
There is a bit of noise from a nightclub up the road. But the solution is to shut the window and door....the aircon works perfectly.
Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the wifi works fine and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a good time.
We look forward very much to our next stay at the Pirat. Absolutely good value for money ....
