“Excellent views, needs some updating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2014

We stayed here after the hotel we originally booked in Kalkan was unexpectedly closed. It was a nice welcomed surprise after we saw some a few other hotels (Pirat Hotel). We stayed in the Executive/Mediterranean Suite which was completely worth it for the amazing view of Kalkan. It was truly beautiful and the floor to ceiling glass windows were amazing. The room was spacious and comfortable however lacking some amenities you would expect from a hotel of this class (i.e. coffee maker, AC that worked easily, better TV). You can tell its been updated but just could use some more help.

We stayed in the off season so things were pretty quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall would be a great place to stay in the summer but you should be aware it is a boat ride or car ride away from the actual city of Kalkan and does not have a beach.

We stayed at the Patara prince villa (1) booked through Olive tree travel which is a luxury apartment with stunning views. The apartment is spacious with modern furnishing which are of a very high standard throughout. You do pay for this luxury as prices are quite high.

The complex is set on a hill side with step steps down to the waterfront which can be a challenge at the best off times, especially during the heat of the day. Getting to the local supermarket at the top of the complex is also hard going in the heat.

The complex staff are not over friendly and did not create a welcoming holiday atmosphere during our stay.

Overall a reasonable holiday but not for the unfit.

If you are expecting 5* glamour and service don't check in here but if you want a really beautiful location and a great relaxing holiday it is perfect. Our apartment was privately rented and was clean and well equipped with an enormous balcony. The pools were clean and the staff around them helpful - they will remove towels on loungers left by people who don't want to use them for most of the day but think it's acceptable to stop anyone else using them - this is a big winner for me and I often enjoyed observing the ensuing rage of the deposed lounger hog!! The restaurant service is very slow and unpredictable by the pools, but who's in a hurry anyway and the staff are polite and apologetic, I feel the problem is probably more managerial. There are water sports available from the seaside and the little ferry will take you into town in the evening for a small fee. We don't tend to eat here in the evening, preferring to try out the huge variety of restaurants in the town. For the children it's great to have other families around for them to mix with, whilst still having the privacy of our own apartment. We've been back 3 times so it's a winner for us!

We loved our flat but were so disappointed by the bad service and terrible food in the resort. The pools and the access to the sea are wonderful and the boat across to Kalkan is quick and easy. We went on some good expeditions to KaputAs, Patara and Xanthos. We ate well at Musakka and the Trading post in Kalkan.

The Patara prince is a very large and beautifully landscaped appartment complex.
it is built on a steep slope but there is a shuttle service
which worked well.
we arrived on the holiday weekend at the end of ramadan and stayed for 9 days. As 2 families we first got 2 slightly older apartments (cactus), in our friends appartment the stove didn't
work and in our appartment the air conditioning was very loud. But beside this the apartments were ok.
After our complaints we both got two wonderful family rooms in the hotel building.
The manager was very friendly and helpful and we spent a wonderful beach holiday there.

We stayed in a one bedroom flat towards the front of the resort. It had a marvelous view of the water. We loved just sitting on the patio with tea and taking in the ambience.

Our stay was in late October/early November and most of the amenities were closed. The pools were not well looked after, but I got the impression that was only because everything was shutting down for the winter.

There were many cats on the property, particularly one cheeky fellow who insisted upon bolting into our villa when we would open the door after returning from a long day. Then, we would spend several minutes chasing the cat around before evicting him for the night. Good thing we don't mind fuzzy beasts or that could have become annoying.

The bathroom was nothing to write home about. There were several buckets in the standup shower when we arrived. We learned the next day what they were for as we had to catch several leaks coming through the ceiling during a rain storm.

There was also no where for us to do our laundry. They wanted to charge a lot of money to do it for us, so my husband and I hand washed everything in the tiny kitchenette sink.

Speaking of the little kitchenette, it was quite small and only offered one burner to cook things on. It did have a small fridge and hot water pot, but that was pretty much it for kitchen appliances.

There was no wifi available in our unit and we had to walk all the way down to the hotel to use their computer.

We did take the water taxi from the resort in to town. It was nice, but a bit expensive.

I think my husband and I were so happy to be away from the kids for the first time in five years that we had no problem overlooking all the shortcomings go the property. I am sure it must be better during the high season. :)

I stayed in Villa 150 at Patara Prince and found the place delightful. This is one of the privately owned villas. Apparently these are managed by different agents which might explain the variation in service/cleanliness etc that other reviewers experience. Patara Prince overall is like a botanical gardens, and has a lovely natural 'settled' feel to it. Tan coloured walls, lovely curved shapes everywhere, including the roofs. So much nicer than the 'while cubic concrete' look so prevalent in many places.

#150 is a one bedroom apartment, reasonably priced and perfect for a single or couple who like to self cater as well as eat out as it has a really well equipped kitchen including washing machine. It is about 20 lira taxi to town, about 20 mins to walk or 5 lira in the shuttle boat. So we were happy to go into town to eat out in the day, pick up some supplies then eat at home or at the Patara restaurant at night. We found the food there OK, not brilliant but fresh fish, nice accompaniments.
But best of all was relaxing on the balcony, with a wonderful view to the west, lovely sunsets and night view to Kalkan.

The pools and beach area are wonderful. Another reviewer mentioned the FANTASTIC massage available at the spa. I really benefited from the treatment there.. so much more than a lazy oil rub like a lot of 'holiday area' massages.
