This place is a real find, pure luxury with no pretentiousness. It's perfectly situated on the hilltops of Kalkan with way access To the sea and a lovely infinity pool. The food is amazing and they offer a lotion healthy options and the massage was lovely. They also offer free boat rides into town. It really is heaven, the service is above and beyond and we would love to go back

We have been going to the Villa Mahal for many years and have just returned after a two week stay, how anyone can think this is anything but heaven is beyond me. The situation is perfect, the food is probably the best in Kalkan, the staff are helpful efficient and charming.never rude or sharp, they may be firm on occasions explaining the locations of the beach club and hotel. Because of the steps it is hardly child friendly but this adds to the peace and tranquility, and it may be more expensive than some other hotels in Kalkan but privacy and seclusion come at a price.
We have had some of the best days ever at this hotel and cannot recommend it high enough.
Kalkan has changed over the past 20 odd years and not all for the better, but that short boat trip across the bay preserves the Villa Mahal as a true haven of peace.

Room Tip: We would recommend room 101' or the Cliff House

A honeymoon is the one trip that should live most fondly and longest in the memory, so the pressure is well and truly on for the destination to match the highest of expectations. Villa Mahal was just that place.

The moment you reach the property, time truly seems to slow down. Past the fragrant bougainvillea and jasmine, a collection of mountainside villas awaits with a view to stop you in your tracks and take the breath away - time and again. The villas are not cutting edge high tech, or six star luxury - but that's precisely the point. Leave the TV off all week and instead watch the blockbuster that is the bay of Kalkan projecting itself in glorious technicolor from dawn to dusk.

An early morning swim off the rocks, followed by a walk up the numerous stone steps on the property, makes breakfast all the more merited. And my, what a breakfast. The Mediterranean on a table. Plums, apricots, figs, pomegranates, dates and oranges just some of the many stunning local fruits. Honey on the comb from local hives, freshly baked breads and pastries, feta and a myriad of cheeses, tomatoes, yogurts, juices - you get the picture.

After some serious sun worship on your private lawn, maybe a hop across the water to town, an afternoon in the property's beautiful motor cruiser, or a trip down to the coast to the stunning ancient site of Patara.

Champagne on your terrace as the sun sets, before heading back down to the waterfront restaurant where you dine to the gentle sound of waves, laughter and love.

This is a hidden gem of a hotel. Set high on a hillside, it looks back over the turquoise Mediterranean to Kalkan. Our room was large, modern, comfortable. The property is terraced down to the sea, with the infinity pool down quite a few steps, but worth the walk, as it was vacant when we were there and has an honor bar. Our first evening we literally dined at the edge of the Mediterranean in a surreally beautiful restaurant. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and breakfast and dinners great. There are literally 200 steps from top to bottom, so getting around is not easy.

It was our first time in Villa Mahal. We heard its recommendation through conde nast traveller. The location of the hotel is beyond words. Its quite marvelous. We stayed both in moonlight deluxe and pool room. Both of the rooms location was very good. But comparing steps to the beach pool room may be preferable by some. Rooms are comfortable and clean. In moonlight deluxe room, there was a light colored carpet which was dirty due to extensive use. Might be better to not have carpets at all. Also all of the rooms should have espresso machine. The beach setting is very very good and very private. The food is tasty but the breakfast menu can offer more muesli varities such as bircher musli and crunchy mueslis. All of the personel are very friendly and welcoming. Other than that you won't regret of your choice one bit.

I haven't posted about the Villa Mahal before because I really didn't want anyone else to know about it! It is pure bliss. From the superb views, to the excellent attention to detail and service and to , last but certainly not least, the lovely rep Joan from whom nothing is too much trouble. The fact that it gets booked a year in advance and many people are regulars is testament to how good it is. I only have one complaint- it is booked for October 2014 so I am unable to go!

We absolutely love the Villa Mahal and feel as though we are coming home each time we arrive. Ipek and her staff make us feel so welcome and they work so hard to try to maintain an extremely high standard in all areas of the hotel. It is indeed a unique setting and one of the most peaceful - no nuisance noise from mobile phones, plenty of quiet areas you can go and have a coffee or just look out to sea - and the quality of everything - the food, wine, and accommodation is consistently good.

We have seen the hotel making different improvements over the years we have been coming here - they really listen to customer feedback and the tour operator Exclusive Escapes who manage most of the Mahal bookings are highly professional, efficient and responsive. These are just some of the reasons we keep coming back and are now planning our 6th visit! We have travelled far and wide in the world but this place is a true gem!
