I just stayed here for a week with my partner and liked it a lot. Small hotel with a great view of the ocean. We stayed in one of the normal rooms, which was spacious and made good use of the private balcony (all rooms have one). The staff were very friendly and happy to help with all requests. The pool area was good for sunbathing (never too overcrowded during our stay, even though the hotel seemed pretty full) and also for drinks in the evening. The crowd was slightly older than us, around 50+, and a few younger couples with babies. This might have just been the time of year, as we travelled right at the start of peak season. Generally a good place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The food was pretty good - not the most delicious thing ever but fresh and simple.

It's close to Kalkan centre but far enough to be relaxing - recommend going down to one of the beach clubs on the waterfront to get on a short water taxi for 5 lira (I particularly recommend the Mahal Beach Club - it is heavenly! You can rent a bed for the day for only 15 lira, which is well worth it. If you stay there during the day the water taxi is free.)

Loads of restaurants to choose from in Kalkan - we particularly liked The Olive Garden to eat and The Fountain cocktail bar. The owner Yas is super friendly.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea - we asked for a sunny balcony on an upper floor.

Small, peaceful and very friendly atmosphere; delightful staff. Short walk from Villa Mahal Beach Club (TL15/sunbed and umbrella; lovely restaurant/bar area). Kalkan is a 2 minute drive, 10 minute walk. Great position overlooking the bay. Kalkan has over 200 restaurants and the hotel food is vert good value. Lots to do nearby-historic sites, hill walks, beaches, day long boat trips around islands. Beautiful!

Room Tip: Larger suites with whirlpool baths available. Some balconies have sun beds; all have chairs and a so...

What do we want from a hotel?
Q. First the room – it has be very clean and comfortable, enough space, but more importantly have a nice outside area which is private with sea views
A. The rooms all of which are really magical. Extremely clean and large with lovely balconies and the second and third floor ones have the most wonderful views of Kalkan bay and beyond. The house keeper Fatima (I think?) makes the most fantastic effort each day to ensure your rooms are kept to a five star level, leaving lots of personal touches, showing she really does care. The suite we had, had lots of outside space with lots of privacy and uninterrupted views over the sea.
Q. Location- quite, not over looked but convenient to everything
A. The “Fidanka Hotel” is on the outskirts of Kalkan (and although I am not sure of the 20 minute walk to the centre??) the very safe and extremely reliable taxi service can deliver you to the centre in 5 minutes for (with tip 20 lira - £5.70). Because of the hotels location, you have the sun to the very end of the day.
Q. Service- personal, caring, helpful and efficient.
A. Bulient Akyuz AKA Bulient, who has to be one of the most outstanding people we have ever met, working in a hotel! His position at the “Fidanka” seems to be manager, waiter, barman, maintenance man, tourist guide and arranger, fixer and a lovely and kind host. Everything with Bulient is never a problem – always a smile and a very interesting man to speak to. We arrived late (getting a little lost) and he was there, waiting up for us at 4.00 am to show us to our room – and was there again at 8.30 the next morning to welcome us for breakfast.
Q. Food and drinks – goes without saying.
A. Unlike a lot of hotels we have stayed at, the “Fidanka” not only is the quality fantastic, but the value for money is brilliant. But what makes eating at the hotel special is the flexibility of having what you want, when you want it. With no need to book – it’s just yes, when you ask. We spent two evenings at the hotel, eating round the pool and sampling Bulents Cocktails. What more could you ask for?!
There are over 160 restaurants in Kalkan, and of all the ones we visited were of a very high standard and great value for money.
FYI
We booked through Thompson, and I believe that new guest will normally be allocated the lower rooms, which are still absolutory fine but if you want those views contact the hotel direct and they can arrange if available, an upgrade to one of the suites at a reasonable amount.
When booking a Gullet (boat trip) worth looking at trip Advisor and booking direct, I also did this with some of the best restaurant and got some really good tables.
This was our first trip to Turkey and what stands out is the Turkish people, they are all so kind, polite and welcoming and really do appreciate your custom.

Located outside of Kalkan (about a 20 minute walk), this little property is even better than the wonderful pictures you will find online. Staff is very friendly (try Bulent's Lemonade) and the food in the restaurant was cheaper and better than you will find in downtown kalkan. It is just a short 5 minute walk down to the Villa Mahal beachcub (15TL entrance fee) and you can spend all day sunbathing (and use the water taxi into Kalkan). Fidanka House is a great choice for a place to stay!

Room Tip: Great views from the deluxe rooms up top.

Just Had a week's stay at the Fidanka. What a lovely lovely place, and the only negative thing I have to say about it is that my stay was too short. The staff were wonderful; so helpful when needed, but not overbearing. There were some little foibles, but that was all part of the quirkiness of the place. This is not for the minimalist, though an adventurous minimalist may enjoy it immensely. The decoration, the beautiful plants and flowers everywhere, and the breakfasts are all so well designed with an eye for the boho chic - always something to look at. Thank you, Bulent, Cuneyt and Ahmet for making our stay so very very memorable.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fidanka, with its fauna, trees, beautiful gardens and antique furnishings, is a Mediterranean fairytale brought to life by a family from İstanbul who loves nature, art, gourmet food and locales with soul. Fidanka means female sapling in Bulgarian, and grows even more beautiful year after year with our love and the happiness of our guests. We have collected hundreds of objects and fauna throughout the years all over Turkey and the world, not because we think of them as decorations, but because we couldn’t bear to be without them. Toys from our childhood, mementos from our families, wooden ceilings, timber doors, window frames - some from nearby villages, some from the other side of the world, all combine to make Fidanka what it is. Fidanka offers five types of beautiful rooms each with immense terraces opening to breathtaking sea views. We used antique furnishings in all rooms, especially in the Timber Rooms. ... more   less
