Description: Retro is located at the centre of Kas. We are opposite Bouganville Travel. Our specialism is cooking most of our products with sous-vide. This is a method using a vacuum machine to seal the food in air tight bags and submerging them in a water bath which has a temperature regaulator attached. The results are moist and evenly cooked food. 48 Hr cooked lamb shank, 8hr cooked beef burgers, 8hr cooked sirloins and 48hr Osso bucco. This season we are also making cocktails with our sous Vide machines. Limoncello is cooked at a low temperature to infuse the vodka, the results equal months of lemon flavour infusion in just 4 hours. Mint infused mojitos, bloody mary and grapefruit salty dog also available. Takeaway Iced coffees, teas, Smoothies, milkshakes and homemade lemonade. We also cater for our Vegetarian, Vegan and gluten intollerant guests! See you soon we hope

not only is the food in retro original and cooked amazingly well, the staff is a very friendly and hard working group. you find yourself forgetting about the rest of the world while dining in this romantic backstreet of kas. however, the entry to the restaurant is on the main shopping street so it is easy to find, perfect!

as i am gluten intolerant myself i found the right place - not only do they serve gluten free bread with the soup, they even bake their own gluten free buns so you can indulge in a hamburger too!! i never came across such a place in turkey before, to be honest i never had a soup even in turkey because flour is so commonly used.

i highly recommend this place and even find the prices to low for the quality of the food served. this little charming place is guaranteed to give you an unique culinary experience!!!

Creativity should be "sine qua non" in modern gastronomy for me.Owners of Retro Bistro (Zafer and Melih) have quite original and post-modern point of view in ordinary and well-known foods.I.e. can you imagine yourself ordering a tiramisu and receiving a pot with a plant in it??It is possible here! All of their pastas are handmade, they use modern techniques for making your dishes much more delicious ( like 72 hour-steamed beef).Compared with others, you may think that they are a bit expensive but do not forget that you eat quality meal, not fast food. So,it worths every penny!Because of cooking styles, maybe you wait for a while, but every good thing deserves to be waited in life ! :) Just enjoy the dance of flavours in your mouth...

Retro is a place you can find delicious meats, home made pastas and such interesting desserts. Meats are cooked with a different method and portions are satisfactory. If u are veggie, try vegan salads, so delicious. Here there is a back garden with a relaxed athmosphere.

We are burger lovers and to find not only one but two amazing burgers in a little town on the coast of Turkey was a surprise.

Neither of us could choose between the Retro burger or the Ottoman burger so ordered one of each, the chef hearing our dilemma even cut them in half and put half and half on each plate.

Both burgers were fantastically seasoned and the flavours all worked so well together.

Both the different types of chips (cheesy garlic and turkish spiced) worked with each burger.

The chef/owner obviously takes a lot of care in the way he prepares every meal.

A fantastic advent garde restaurant that gets all the important things right … and achieves that with an effortless charm and absolute passion about food, people and service.....
This is a fabulously restaurant done by two young Turks ... (literally!) and go there and you can say to your friends ... I remember when I went in the first opened and thought that that this was the start of something special.

One of the best restaurants in Kas. Period! And is reasonable value (for the delights you are served!)

This place puts to shame “the death by mezze conformity” that you sometimes find in many Turkish resorts

This place shows real skill, courage and confidence ... and you can really taste it. From the home made pasta to the use of Sous-vide method of cooking food (sealed in airtight plastic bags in a water bath or in a temperature-controlled steam environment for longer than normal) this establishment is less retro and more a...avant garde take on food and ingredients.

Did you know that 65 to 90% of (depending on location) non franchised restaurants fail within 12 to 18 months. Put simply … to survive your first year is a huge achievement. Particularly if you decide to differentiate yourself from the crowd and go for an exciting and sometimes challenging menu that makes you think
To do this you must start with having substance over style … the food has got to be good since you need a core group of locals / regulars/ tourists … which support the business …and then you get the added bonus of passing trade.

Really successful places have both … style and substance. This place has got that.
Kas is not short of restaurants … of varying quality. What 95% of them do is have a variation on a theme … mezze/ pede / and the more expensive establishments … steak and lamb signature dishes.

But most are “cooking by numbers” … "Etch A Sketch " food done by locals of cuisine they are aware of … done "how it is always done". So the customer focuses on the small difference … the ambience of X is better than Y … or the steak here is marginally better than there.

This place is certainly different … I only need to give you the names for two deserts for you to understand they ambition of the chefs.

- Cream Brûlée with Aubergine with burnt ice cream and caramel sauce. Er … that worked … despite me actually expecting/ wanting it not to as I could not quite understand how you could marry such ingredients …

- And a knockout Tiramisu served in a flower pot with edible chocolate soul … which was stunning!

The mains were seen as a triumph by all of the party … although probably a touch on the large size … they could easily reduce portion size by 20% and still have very happy customers. The key here is the quality of the meat and fish ... which these days is very expensive in Turkey ... so if you want great quality ...at least make sure the chefs understand and respect the produce.

Finally … there is lovely about this place in terms of atmosphere and effortless service. The staff get on with each other … they seem to enjoy what they do and the owner is proud of what he has achieved. You can feel it … and taste it.

The best restaurant review … really can be surmised by would you go again? Well … two members of my party had persuaded our group to go to this after they had visited a couple of days ago. I certainly intend to go again with new friends next week. So yes. Try it. And be prepared to be wonderfully surprised.
