I loved this hotel and enjoyed my stay but if you go anytime from early Nov remember the season is winding down. But I loved the peace and quiet. Great value too. The location is great overlooking the bay but the sun went behind the rocks at 4 pm. But lovely beach opposite near the marina. We hired a car so getting in to Kas was easy, a bus runs from up the hill every 30 mins. Breakfast, excellent choice and had ours outside next to the seawater pool. Not all the staff had good English, the receptionist was weak but we managed. We were upgraded to lovely large room overlooking pool and bay. 100 steps down to sea, bar area and sun loungers but for the mobile lovely terracing.

Room Tip: Definitely get a sea view

We stayed for the second time at Barbarossa and it was even better than the first time. It creates addiction. The hotel is a small one, does not seem very attractive from outside. But the location is excellent, rooms are sizeable, clean and most of them with lovely sea view. Sea is perfect, very clean and blue color, like a giant swimming pool. There are nice wooden platforms well placed on rocks. Mostly preferred by couples without kids. So it is not noisy, you enjoy the sea and read all day long.

Hotel staff is very friendly, smiling at all the time, especially Hatice and Meryem are hardworking, caring everything from reception to bar.

Food is very high quality, changing every day, healthy and delicious, that level of food quality is not very commen if you subscribe open buffet food.

I strongly recommend Barbarossa, if you are looking for a peacefull holiday.

At first I had a negative impression of this hotel, but they really won me over. They ended up putting me into a villa which was just incredible. If you can book a villa, you won't be disappointed.

The grounds of this hotel are beautiful, and the rooms are incredibly clean, light, and the ones with ocean views are truly special.

I was nervous at first about taking the shuttle, which is public - not just for the hotel - but it turned out to be very easy and safe at all hours, even late into the evening.

My one hope for the hotel is that they train the staff to speak English or hire more staff that speaks English. And, if you want quiet make sure to ask for a room in a quiet place, because they do play music around much of the property for much of the day. That said, I can't wait to come back and recommend the Barbarossa to many friends in the U.S.

Room Tip: Get a villa if you can & definitely ask for an ocean view.

Have stayed here a few times. Really relaxed & laid-back hotel. Good price at this time of year - especially if you download the voucher on 'trip advisor' Only problem we had was driving away.... Especially given the steep lane up to the main road.

Would not be good for disabled or infirm as it is set out over several floors, including lots and lots of stone steps. But very good if you are looking for a 'chill axing' few days away from work life.

Room Tip: Rooms V1 &V2 - small but facing out over the water - marvelous. We also tried one of the Villa...

We spent a very relaxing week at Hotel Barbarossa in August 2012. The food was a particular highlight, with huge variety of delicious and healthy salads and buffet dishes, as well as barbecued options at lunch and dinner. Normally by the end of a week in a hotel I have got a bit bored of the food, but I can honestly say the food was so fantastic I loved every meal. There was a constant supply of fresh Turkish bread being made all the time, wonderful baba ghanoush, and so many different things to choose from.

We loved all the huge cushions and gazebos down on the waterfront - there was never a problem finding space even when the hotel was full, and indeed you never feel like the hotel is full as there is a lot of space for people to spread out down by the sea. There is a small children's pool by the sea, which our 5 year old splashed about in for hours and we could sit nearby and read a book. The main pool is on the level above, as the hotel is on the side of a hill. We found that there was hardly anyone in the main pool or sitting around it, so when our children decided to hold the Barbarossa Olympics in the pool we didn't feel like we were disturbing anyone.

Lunch is laid out near the waterfront, whereas dinner is on the terrace overlooking the pool. The waiters were very attentive at bringing drinks etc, and moving chairs around to accommodate our group. In the evening it is lovely to have cocktails at the bar overlooking the water, and in the day I had some great iced coffee tehre.

We were very pleased with our room, which was actually a suite of 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, so our 3 children fitted comfortably in one bedroom, and we were in the other. So often we are crammed in with our children, or family rooms don't fit 3 children, so that was a real plus too.

There is no beach, which is the same for the whole coastline near there, but the hotel has wooden jetties with lots of sets of pool steps going down into the water, so it doesn't matter at all. In fact it was quite nice not having sand! There are so many comfortable places to sit you can spend the whole day just relaxing in and out of the water. As well as sun loungers there are tons of huge cushions, sunshades and beautiful gazebos. Our children spend hours kayaking and swimming out to a large inflatable that was moored up, and it was easy to keep an eye on them.

We did one day trip out to a gorge that great, and on the trip we also stopped at a place where we all bathed in mud and did a full body mud cover. The older children floated down the river on tyres on that trip too, in a stunning setting. We also went into to Kas for one evening, which is a nice place to wander around, have an icecream, baklava, buy some Turkish bathtowels, souvenirs for the children.

There was a lady doing massages in an area near the water, and I heard she was very good, but I didn't have one myself,

I would highly recommend Hotel Barbarossa. It has the personal feel of a family run hotel and very friendly staff, but the food and facilities were excellent. We met some Canadians who come to Turkey every summer and said it was their favourite hotel.

Room Tip: For a family ask for a suite of 2 rooms. I think ours was number 13.

We stayed for 2 weeks in September and enjoyed our holiday very much.We had booked B&B so that we could eat in Kas in the evenings but the buffet food was so very nice and the setting beautiful overlooking the pool, sea and mountains that most evenings we ate at Barbarossa .The atmosphere is friendly, informal and relaxing with a nice selection of background music. The breakfasts were also most enjoyable, the bed comfortable and the sea easily accessible and the setting stunning. We have very fond memories and hope to return.

This is a great play to stay in this beautiful area of Turkey. Everything is done for you to enjoy total relaxation.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful even though their English is pretty approximative, the food amazing, the masseuse fantastic and the settings beautiful.
The kids and us loved the huge color cushions and canopies along the waterfront. Great spot!
The only down point was the food & drinks bill at the end of our stay. We don't think it was deliberate mistakes, but we had to ask them to remove a few drinks that we were sure were not ours. Better check the drinks regularly from the reception (as they recommend in fact) to avoid the unpleasant surprise at check out.
