“Paradise!”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Booked this excellent hotel through Exclusive Escapes. The hotel is wonderful and difficult to fault in any way.
The food is excellent, although the Ottoman evening food wasn't great; the sea front idyllic; the accommodation to a very high standard and the staff second to none!
The Turkish bath is memorable and to be enjoyed… don't miss it!
The hotel is set on a steep hillside and so this is not the perfect place for anyone not enjoying walking up and down steps (there are over 250 from top to bottom!) but this made the setting in my opinion.
The hotel lay on a small bus to Kas and the public bus runs from the top of the hotel where you can find endless restaurants and bars and other activities.
Will return!

The approach to the hotel along the Kas peninsula is bumpy and rather scruffy. Even the hotel's reception is unexceptional. So we were underwhelmed on arrival.

However staying in the hotel is actually delightful. Our room was attractive, spotlessly clean with panoramic sea views.
The staff are friendly helpful but not intrusive. The management by Gillian and Ozal was efficient and charming. The food was excellent both in the main restaurant and by the sea.

There is an excellent hammam with a complimentary visit thrown in. The gulet trip is also delightful. Our rep Steve based at the hotel was entertaining and very helpful.

One thing to consider is all the steps. You need to be fit to stay here! Also although you can swim off the bathing platforms, and we did every day, the access is via rather rickety ladders into deep water and so again you need to be agile and not mind swimming out of your depth. There are plentiful sunbeds and a pleasant pool - a bit chilly in late September.

The hotel runs a shuttle down to Kas each evening which is well worth using and we much enjoyed our evenings in the town.

Room Tip: All rooms can be pre selected on line. The higher numbered rooms are closer to the sea and the pool...

We found this hotel on the Exclusive Escapes website, when looking for some late summer sun in October, and opted to use Easyjet Gatwick flights rather than the private jet package from Stansted. This worked fine and the inclusive transfer driver was waiting for us and another couple on our arrival at Dalaman. The transfer is a good 2hrs but comfortable enough and the destination is worth it. We arrived at the hotel at midnight and received a warm welcome from Gillian the owner. We were quickly shown to our room where there were some lovely touches, including a complimentary small mezze supper if required, plus a bottle of wine for our anniversary.
The room (204) was lovely - bright, clean and comfortable with great views from 2 windows, with good size balcony with sunbeds plus chairs - sun on balcony pm.
Food wise, there was a good selection at breakfast including plus omelettes and pancakes to order - we got addicted to the latter! The lunch menu down at the waterside restaurant was nice and varied - ranging from mezze to salads to hot dishes and pides. Do try the not so "flat" bread and the pides (see photo). All very tasty. We didn’t try the evening a la carte but did attend the Ottoman evening. Nice but not outstanding food and, probably as it was late season, not many guests for the dancing/atmos. We also attended the BBQ night but due to bad weather this was moved from waterside restaurant to main terrace restaurant, and the food was then a plated selection, so although very tasty, did not live up to expectations - though not the hotel's fault. Other guests reported that the fish night at the waterside restaurant was very good. There are numerous restaurants to try in Kas and the other evenings we took the dolmus in and out of town - very punctual and got a seat each time for 2.25TL pp each way. Do note though that the hotel is quite far out on the peninsular - it's a 10min drive in and out, and walking into town is not for the fainthearted!
Hotel's grounds down to the water are attractively laid out and there are comfortable loungers and umbrellas at the front. The sea water was a more bearable temperature than the pool, although at the end of our week the waves were breaking up over the top of the sets of steps with some stormy weather and high winds. Very calm at the beginning of the week though, and water very clear - some fish to see when snorkelling but not much else. Some guest swam out to the rocky outcrop in the middle of the bay, but we only ventured to the bathing platform 30m out! We also watched turtles in the sea one morning from the hotel terrace - lovely.
The complementary gullet cruise is recommended, not for sightseeing as such but for a relaxing day in the sun with some swimming opportunities, and the chance to meet fellow guests. Therefore recommend you book this early in your stay so that you can then chat to others at the breakfast buffet and share experiences/tips - it's the friendliest hotel we've been to, without being OTT on the social side, and the staff and owners add to the atmosphere.
We also both took up the complementary Turkish bath treatment, which was fun, and my other half used the spa for a full body massage which she highly recommends. Do go out exploring though - we hired a car for 3 days and went to the stunning Saklikent Gorge, where we rafted in rubber rings down the river and had lunch over the water. We combined this with a trip to Patara's long sandy beach, backed by interesting ruins. We also drove onwards from Kas (enjoying great views over Kas and the peninsular on route) to Kekova where we went out on a boat to see the sunken city. This can be done as part of a day cruise as then you can lunch at a waterfront restaurant on the island of Simena which has stunning castle. We also went to Kalkan but didn't see it in its best light - mid storm, with streets running like rivers and the restaurant we were in flooded!
We noted that many fellow guests had been with Exclusive Escapes before and we can understand why - the company and hotel got pretty much everything right and we would wholeheartedly recommend both. Shame the company doesn't cover countries outside Turkey too.

Room Tip: 204 recommended. We also used twin room below on our departure afternoon (203?) which seemed much d...

As all the reviews below state there isn’t anything more you can add as it has all been said.

So here is my personal experience comments as follows:

Very well organized set-up at this hotel. Do try the Turkish Bath experience and book yourself in for a massage or two as extremely relaxing and indulgent.

Food is good. The a la carte is much better but more pricier. Try the lamb clay pot main course and see your dish arrive at your table in flames – spectacular. The themed meal we tried at the Ottoman evening did lack a certain something and the dancing is very brief, in fact the actual entertainment only lasts about 20-minutes and is finished by 9.30pm-ish.

Almost all of the staff are extremely pleasant (there is always that one though isn’t there) and helpful.

Wasn’t hugely impressed when my family and friends settled down for a drink in the bar one evening to have an off duty waiter plonk himself in our group and then continued to take over our conversation and even asked us if we wouldn’t mind swapping seats (I think he wanted to be near the “pretty” female member of our group). Wouldn’t have expected this from a high level establishment and personally didn’t really appreciate it. Wonder if this guy was involved in the rowdy music incident as mentioned by another reviewer below as this waiter was up for partying. Avoided the bar after that and went into Kas instead so the hotel lost out in monetary terms. Shame.

Would definitely return though as thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Well done to everyone over there.

The Stansted Titan Air thing isn’t really anything to do with the hotel but thought I’d mention as everyone raves about it. The return journey is that usual slog of having to queue with suitcases at a normal airport terminal check in so the “super” experience is only a one-way thing. Funny how the return journey isn’t mentioned anywhere in depth like the outward journey.

Room Tip: For detached luxury go for the Pool House

Loved the whole experience, from the flight from Stansted private jet terminal to the complimentary gulet cruise, Exclusive Escapes really do know how to make you feel special. The hotel is stunning, we had a deluxe room more or less on the same level as reception and the restaurant. You do have to think carefully about where you want your room to be, luckily you can choose your exact room. If you wanted to be in the sea frequently and to go into Kas town a lot you would need to be very fit. The views are stunning and the rooms are very well appointed. Food is very good but expensive for Turkey. I liked Kas a lot, it reminded me of how Kusadasi used to be in the 1970s, much more authentically Turkish than can be found on the aegean coast these days, less brash and the people are nice. The only downside of staying here is that it is out on a peninsula so it is a dolmus or shuttle bus ride into town and the buses can be crowded.

Recently returned from a superb week at DFL. Definitely agree with one guest comment ‘like holidaying in the middle of a Bond movie’ as we stayed in the Yasemin Suite (Pool House 2) which was the most beautiful room I’ve seen, not to mention the ‘outside-in’ pool and extensive private deck with extremely comfortable loungers. No sharks in this pool though! Absolutely blissful to relax in such a cool space with his and hers showers, sinks and rooms (if necessary)!

Having arrived via the premium service on board Titan Airways from Stansted’s Private Jet Terminal (THE way to travel I must say) and checking-in to this room, it was going to be tough to beat, but sole charter of the hotel’s catamaran (suitably named ‘Adonis’) did just that. Could honestly have stepped out of a Duran Duran music video this was so cool. Our Skip and crew, Mehmet, could not have given us a better day on board this amazing vessel, where you could either sit back and relax with a glass or two of champagne or learn about how to sail such a handsome boat – we did both. The day was supplemented with a delicious fresh mezze lunch with wine, and later afternoon tea and cake with stops off during the day for swimming and snorkelling.

Coupled with amazing service from the hotel, quality massages, an excellent complimentary Gulet cruise (really lovely way to get to know fellow guests) and Hamman, and splitting our evenings dining between authentic Kas (via the free regular transfer service) and the hotels excellent restaurants, made for a week to remember and the view from our deck is now firmly imprinted into my memory banks.

Exclusive Escapes have nailed this one.

Thinking of a special holiday/honeymoon destination – then look no further. We’ll be returning.

We spent the second week in this hotel of a two week holiday and although we were not happy with our first room, the management very kindly moved us, not far, just to the room below but somehow it was just so much nicer due to a large balcony and different entrance with fewer steps. Steps are a big issue in this hotel as many people have commented and our first room was right at the very top of the hill just below the gates that lead to the road. Any reduction in steps is welcomed!! However, it wasn't just the steps, as this was the highest room in the complex, just above it were some staff rooms (I believe) which were not very well screened. The rest of the hotel is beautifully landscaped with small terraced areas here and there dotted next to the room blocks with extra sun loungers but the area right at the top is somehow a bit ugly.Anyway, we were very happy in our new room. For those new to the hotel, I would suggest the lower down rooms and those nearer the pool and restaurant would be the ones to choose if available. We enjoyed everything else very much. Food was good, company excellent, Gulet trip a laugh and a lovely way to meet some fellow guests. Kas is lovely and we split our evenings between the hotel and the town. I was impressed with Exclusive Escapes and have already booked to go again next year.

Room Tip: Pick rooms low down in the complex to avoid the steps.

This contemporary waterfront hotel has sweeping coastal views and awe-inspiring sunsets which reflect off the water. It has an intricate design of natural stone buildings with paths leading from the reception area through a series of pretty terraces - past several pools, garden terraces and impressive palm trees - to either the Waterfront Suites above or to the extensive private waterfront below. At a glance, the cool combination of natural stone with red roof tiles creates the impression of a mediaeval-style village - but Deniz Feneri is rather more up to the minute than that.
