Having just returned from Kemer (Turkey) for a 7 night stay with my wife, well where do I start?
firstly pulling up outside, not a great first impression, the hotel is in an area full of noisy bars & restaurants.
The Hotel is certainly not a 3* as suggested on various websites.
walking from reception to our room did not fill us with excitement for our week ahead. Very untidy / dirty and really not that pleasant at all.
the room did not really meet with expectation either, very basic unclean and in need of modernisation.
the area is not that popular with British tourists, which is fine as we are not the typical full English brekky brigade, who expect pork sausage & bacon etc.
Let me point out Kemer is Beautiful resort, with wonderful views and places to eat.
We stayed on an all inclusive basis, what a mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
breakfast, no Juice, no yoghurt only served tomatoes and cucumber, with a bowl full of olives. Lunch same plates of tomatoes and cucumber with 3-4 trays of very limp salads, cold rice with beans and small pieces chicken with splintered bone in.
evening meal identical to lunch (Sorry was lunch) Ok on to the bar, on our first Evening I went up to the ram shackled looking hut and requested a beer, Beer not included was the reply, never heard of this before, not a problem ill have a soft drink, only to be given a warm cola (Rola-Cola) budget brand which was disgusting.
the only beverages served were BUDGET COLA and BUDGET fizzy orange (even worse) red wine and Vodka (Local) Powder coffee and Turkish tea (Which was ok)
on many occasions there was no coffee or Powder milk and when requesting more was told there was no more?
approximately 8-10 members of staff where given the push over the week we stayed, and these seemed be the ones that held the place together? The problem was they have so many managers (more Managers than customers) who really seem to just sit around and drink better quality of soft drinks as they would not accept the cheap brands like their guests, and dine at the same time as their guests.
upon mentioning to one of the managers (Mehmet) why no beer on an all inclusive package he replied he would request via one of his managers and he would get back to us.
from that moment he blanked us.
with regards to the staff being told to go, the new cook was 100% better offering much better Turkish fare for the last 3 days of our holiday, one kitchen assistant who constantly was behind the buffet, wore the same T-shirt and shorts throughout our stay and probably still is.,
Anyway I would really not recommend this hotel to anyone of any nationality,
luckily we found some wonderful restaurants and met some wonderful people, Kemer is really worth a visit, just don't stay here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
