It’ s an 30 years old Club at Kemer, Antalya but very well-kept, especially the nature.

There are 3 diffrent parts to stay;
The Hotel (I prefer),
Demre (Aparts) quite new but no balcony,
Bungalows (my friends told me that they have moisture problem and old).

June is not a good time for holiday, it was mostly raining everyday even with thunders and cold at evenings, so you will need rain coat, umbrella (Club can provide it) and sweatshirt.

There is a serious wi-fi problem all over the facility.

Check-in is at the hotels’ reception, there’ s one more reception at the village. Check in time is 14:00 pm but for the first time I’ ve seen that check out time is 10:00 am!

Minibar is empty and no kettle at the room! No dental kit, no shaving kit, no sewing kit, no slippers (if you don’ t ask), no bathrope, just one soap.

There are special rooms for ironing and washing machine all around the Bungalows.

System is all inclusive, with international drinks at the pool bar.

Meals are various and quantity is quite enough but not always the quality!(especialy the meat and deserts)
wine, beer and soft drinks.

İf you don’t like mess, have the meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) at the hotel or
try part number 2 at the village.

There are 2 swimming pools and 2 silent pools (one at the hotel and one at the village) and also a kids pool with the slides.

Long beach but no sand small pebbles, wavy sea afrer 10:00 am. Lawn area is very comfortable with the kids, tents at the village side, lodges at the hotel side.

Kids animation and attractions are very successfull, four diffrent categories (Baby Club, Petit Club, Mini Club, Junior Club.) for all ages, and avery big area with many animators.

For adults sport facilities, watersports, with tuition and training are quite enough and active but night animation is very amateur.

I am coming here for the last 5 years. This is first time I have such a bad experience . It started from the arrival : none is welcoming you anymore . Rooms are stinky and dirty. After 4h waiting and additional Euro 400 they moved me to cleaner room. Even there, toilet is locked, mirror is hanging on the one screw, TV remote is not working . New Hotel manager is apparently is not a custom to the standard this place had in the past.

From GM 018085204

Set against mountains, landscaped gardens and a long spacious beach this is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever visited.

Informal plantings of various colours and heights give an amazing spectacle of colour against the rugged mountain backgrounds,

GARDENS

Colourful marigolds border the extensive pathways. One morning we saw a gardener on his knees dead heading the flowers to keep them blooming. In sign language we showed our appreciation of his efforts. He smiled a put his hand to his heart and plucked a flower as a gift.

This hand to heart gesture was repeated when we thanked the Chef’s for their outstanding menus and presentations. During our two week stay we were always finding new dishes to try.

FOOD

The food in the buffet restaurant was of high quality, varied and we enjoyed the fresh fish that is normally quite expensive in the UK. There was no rationing even of lamb and turkey. Although there are two superb speciality restaurants these were not overbooked and we were always able to obtain a place

My wife speaks a little French and I remember a few words from my schoolboy books! Many of the staff speak English and most will try !

As 1958 vet from the grass huts and plastic beads of Corfu I remembered the long tables where you were obliged to sit in the next vacant space. That spirit was continued with GO’s who joined us and were glad to speak in English. Many, including our barman, were University undergraduates!

We liked the way the buffet restaurant was divided into smaller dining areas. My foot caught the wheel of an overlarge Russian convertible baby carriage. My apology was met by a killing glare from the mother blaming me! Fortunately we were able to find a safe adult section!

CULTURE

The fantastic well attended open air concerts at Corfu had been replaced by taped music and we were the sole potential audience. We now enjoy wonderful international concerts including French opera and ballet. It is a pity there was not an opportunity to join others to view some large screen presentations.

We mentioned to Turkish friends our concerns about the quality of the Turkish stage show. They considered the Russian belly dancing to be a travesty and agreed the Turkish show did not accurately portray Turkish Dance. On our return to the UK we have watched some excellent wedding dances on YouTube including traditional Turkish dancing that was very skilful and varied.

Club Med of course has its own culture and there is a White Evening where at least a thousand guests, dressed in white, are provided with an open air barbecue meal. Never seen so many bain-maries keeping food at the right temperature. Special congratulation to the Chef’s and all those involved in setting up such a wonderful scene. Sadly I had nothing white to wear but inspired by Corfu made my own costume from a bedsheet that had some resemblance to a Roman toga. There is a change of clothing colour for each day. The clothing available from the shop was for us somewhat expensive so it is best to bring your own!

OUR ROOM

We loved the walk in wardrobe and drawer area with plenty of rail space and hangers for all our clothing. Electric lighting was good for reading or set for atmosphere. Air conditioning worked well but we acclimatised and opted to turn it off as the bungalow had been designed to stay as cool as possible.

Free Wi-Fi in the room was excellent and adequate to download the Sunday newspaper - if you had time to read it!

WATERSPORTS

Did the wrong exercises at gym before holiday and should have focussed on balance and losing weight! After finding windsurfing and paddle board too challenging I opted for a conversion course to the Catamaran. Enjoyed excellent instruction and participation , with a more skilled sailor, in the Armada and Regatta.
There does not seem to be a reliable see breeze pattern and we had several no wind days for sailing that were ideal for water skiers.

We laughed at the attempts at translating conversation through our mobile phones Will the technology will soon be with us to have translating technology to help the excellent instructor input? Perhaps we should have mentioned this to the Communications Manager who joined us for one of our meals!

Safety is always the priority and thanks to all who helped a vintage member understand he no longer had the movement and ability of the slimmer person he once was!

Snorkelling is not possible from the beach during normal waterfront opening hours but snorkelling trips are arranged each morning and afternoon

LOSING A DAY

We booked both our accommodation and flights with Club Med. After arriving at about 1.00 am on a Saturday for a 14 day holiday we did not expect to be thrown out of our room at 10.00 am on a Friday and be homeless for 9 hours! A GO was able to get this extended to 2.00 pm Friday but then tried to get us to pay to move to new rooms and stay to 7 pm. After protest a supervisor agreed the situation was somewhat unfair and we agreed to a compromise of using a complimentary “shower room” and leave the original room by 10.00am.

We had another brilliant week here and are already planning to book again for next year.

The GOs are brilliant and really put so much of themselves into making everyone’s stay perfect. They all work so hard and all seem to really love it - which makes for happy guests.

The range of activities on offer is amazing. The water sports are great and all the instructors very proficient and patient. The waterski team are great and the sailing team amazing.

Also, this year we had tennis lessons - which was just great. Better than any we have had at home. So. Big thanks to the tennis team - especially Ziko.

My top tip would be to go for a bungalow with a balcony, we had one last year but this year for some reason had one of the older rooms. These are very dark in comparison.

Another amazing family holiday. Can’t wait to return
