We booked a one-day-tour "Green Canyon" at our hotel to get away from Side (shops, people, restaurants, noise). Of course we were a lot of people in the tour but it was not annoying. First you pass the dam and from there you go onto the boats. We had 2 stops to go for a swim. It was really awesome, we had like 40 C outside and the water was like 15 C. It was so refreshing!! We loved it. For lunch we had a buffet, of course there were other boats and other tours but it was not annoying at all (at least for me). The colour of the water is stunning! I have only seen this colour in the caribbean. Our week in Side was nothing special at all but this one day made our stay absolutely worth it.

We travelled to Oymapinar in our hire care from Side. Once through the town of Manavgat the scenery was lovely - forest, river and mountains. The entrance to the road to the dam only cost 3 lira (approx. £1) for the car. We drove along the road at the side of the reservoir, didn't meet any other traffic. The dam itself is a spectacular piece of engineering. The water is an incredible colour and the views are beautiful. It hardly cost anything and was well worth an afternoon out.

Travelled up one day as we try to explore as much as we can when we stay in Side.

A bit of a scary winding road with no safety barriers protecting you from sheer drops, but take it easy and enjoy the trip. once at the dam, the views are out of this world, so one for the bucket list.

Very nice views but you have to pay for entering the road! No toilet facilities. Lot of rubbish on the road after dam towards the Green Kanyon
