We went from Side on a tour bus to this city, it is so vast you need at least 3 days to explore it all. Being disabled I could not get down to the harbour but my partner did and really enjoyed it. The city was so clean and walking through Republic Square we eve saw the tram lines being swept. As with all tours they are spoilt by factory visits which normal people cannot afford to buy the products.

The city is split in two as with the old and the new, the old still has some cobbled streets as they originally were. Some building were boarded up as under Turkish law they have to be restored to how they originally were, some people did not have the money for the work so they are left.

There is still one gate intact the entrance to the old harbour under the glass walkway through the gate you can still see the chariot tracks dating back to Roman Times

When we sleepily awoke from our hostel after a ten hour bus ride to Antalya, we walked down a cobbly street towards the beach. We only had a rough idea of where we were going. Suddenly, we turned a corner and were absolutely stunned by the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea- Aquamarine, surrounded by stunning mountains. It just appeared in front of us. After travelling through Europe for nearly four months in the winter I was delighted to be in sunny Antalya. The city itself is colourful and like the other places I visited in Turkey- full of cats!. And I LOVE Efes Beer!!!

We spent 3 hours looking around Antalya, with its eclectic mix of shops selling everything from Diamond rings to Turkish Delight. The old town is charming, it's sloping streets are full of character and we found plenty of opportunities to barter for bags, shoes and clothing. In the market area of the new town we found an amazing Ottoman baths that had been converted into a bazaar called Bindalli, every room is filled with treasures to suit everyone's tastes. We were left to shop without being harassed and given Turkish tea and sweets. Bindalli is well worth a visit.
