“Happy Holiday”
Reviewed 19 September 2011

Just returned from a week's holiday in this smallish hotel / apartment complex. I chose the Myra after researching on "tripadvisor". Most of the previous reports where spot on. We,( my wife & I) chose to book bed & breakfast. The flight time from Belfast meant that we arrived around 02.30. We where warmly welcomed and shown to 'our' room. At this point we felt let down. The room was small, exagerated by having both a double and a single bed. Tiredness delayed any complaining, however before the 'welcoming' by the excellent Thomas Cook rep Gavin, we where offered an upgrade to an apartment for an extra £10 per night. There was no hesitation and from that point our holiday mood returned. The complex IS small but kept clean and tidy (unobtrusively). The pools 2 'adult' and 2 childrens where never crowded and sunloungers where always available. The pool bar/resturant proved popular and the basic bar snacks tasty and reasonably priced. The Hotel offers a 'free' bus service to and from the nearby beach twice daily. The 'Full moon' beach offered excellent sun loungers and parasols free. and their resturant served some very good snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. The hotel tries to keep the guests happy by organising the traditional Turkish night as well as a Karoke night and pool party evening. While there we witnesed some nice upgrading of the hotel facilities, new tables and chairs in the pool bar and reception area. My main complaint would be focused on the 'breakfast'. Entitled 'typicaly Turkish' I and other guests where greatly dissapointed. This hotel / apartment complex is like a lot dotted throughtout Side and many other touristy areas in Turkey, it's NOT in the middle of the action. It is some 25 minutes walk through uninteresting streets / roads to the 'Old Town', but if you prefer, a taxi costs only 15 Turkish Lira each way.

Room Tip: Go for an apartment, forget about breakfast.

Have just returned from staying at the Myra and cannot agree or understand the negative comments of the last 2 recent reviews. The staff were friendly and helpful(including Jessica on reception and Gavin(the Thomas Cook rep) even though we weren't with Thomas Cook.
The breakfast was basic and the hotel was a 25 min walk to Side but there was a free bus to the beach and good restuarants nearby. Ali and Ramazan also were great(especially with the children) and we had no problems with the cleaners.

We really enjoyed a nice family holiday here yes it was a bit out of the way from bars/ restaurants but if u want it nice and quiet u won't mind. its cosy away from hustle and bustle its about a
10 minute walk from the hotel to where there is an array of restaurants/bars markets the harbour is about 20 mins get a taxi if u can't walk it but ask him how much before you get in then he can't make up a price when u get to your destination. the food was lovely although we only had bar snacks at the hotel because we got up to late for breakfast and found somewhere that did a nice full english cheaply( bistro bar restaurant) and we ate out every night. this hotel was clean our room had two balconys and was really big. The staff were friendly we had no problems the 2 pools were fresh and sun loungers all around. We would go back my kids 7 and 10 didn't want to leave!! Wouldn't recommend this hotel for the elderly or people with walking disabilities

Clearly the person who posted on here on 7th September has got the wrong hotel ! I have just come back from Myra and had the best holiday ever. I travel abroad alot and have never been made to feel as welcome as I was there. The staff are so polite and friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you are having a good holiday.
I can't wait to go back !

Positives: clean, large room with fridge, two nice (though small) pools, reasonable breakfast in Turkey's terms, some staff were friendly
Negatives: out of the way-at least 15 minutes boring walk to the beach and about 25 mins to Side centre, again mostly a boring walk through a dull residential area, including some wasteland. The food menu was very limited and basically just bar food. The female receptionist was noticeably friendlier to us when the Thomas Cook rep was around (with whom she was friendly) and we agree with the latest review which said that she could be very rude at times. The chamber maid left her key in our door all day, we only found it when we returned at 1am, a big security risk for which we received no apology. She also left our rubbish bag (there was no bin in the room) on our bed (!), but we were too nervous of the reaction from the receptionist to tell her so got rid of it ourselves, which is not what you go on holiday for!

On another note, this hotel when we were there was FULL of British people. If you like this sort of atmosphere, hanging out with the bar staff and around the pool, you'll have a great time, otherwise you will struggle to feel as though you're somewhere different!

We stayed at this hotel for 7 days and enjoyed every minute. When we arrived at 3.30am after going past all the 5* hotels we thought we made a bad choice of booking and it looked as if we were in a derelict area.. but DON'T BE FOOLED we were shocked in the morning to find how beautiful it was. We got shown to our room which turned out to be an apartment ( we had booked 2 hotel rooms ), we hesitated and were unsure if we had been downgraded as it was so dark you couldnt tell. When we woke the next morning it was totally obvious that we had been upgraded!! we were abit embarrased as we had kicked of a little before hand. The apartment was very big, had two bedrooms and on looked the 2 big pools and the bar area. disco area at night. The hotel its self is very clean, spacious and very well looked after by the staff. The staff are very friendly and do what they can to help - all speak very good english. The cleaners have a friendly presence but don't speak much english if any. We had a terrace which was equiped with a decent table and chairs and to your side were the big pools. There are many many sun loungers so you don't have to get up early to have one. The 2 pools are very clean and are bigger to what they look on the photos!.. The air conditoning is only in the lounge in the apartments ( but it still cools the rooms down aswell) although it is not very ideal as you would have thought it would be in the bedrooms. The breakfast is ok but it is basic and could do with more selection. Schefika the recptionist is very friendly and polite as are Hasan, Ali and Ramazan. If you wanted to eat in the evenings the food is very limited, it is best to walk 5 minutes into the town were there are many restaurants, pubs and kebab shops - Everybody is so friendly as they want you to eat in there restaurants. Also there is only one cooking ring in the appartments but who wants to cook when you have bars and restaurants near by!? The hotel has Chickens, Rabbits, a Young female Cat, Ducks, a rooster and a little Dog which is owned by Schefika and is always by her side. There is a lovely gazebo which has bushes/plants going around it instead of side panels. The gazebo covers a ping pong table which is good as it is in the shade for when you play in the heat. The garden is lovely and there are many lime trees, fig trees and pomegranate trees. The Turkish night looked amazing from photos and cost 30 lira ( i think, it may have been less ) as you also get supplied with a dinner buffet including bbq, but because of my extreme phobia of snakes we had to either stay in our apartment or go into town - we went into town. The staff had said they would keep it well away from us but there is just no way i could of been there. The snake is not there very long it is just danced with and there for people to have photos taken with it. There is also a band which plays and entertains the guests and professionsal turkish dancers. Everybody joins in and has a great laugh. Pool night is very fun and the staff also get in too. Ramazan likes to push people in even if he has already done it more than a few times... . The price of food and drinks is very cheap and it is just 1 lira for a bottle of water from the bar. There is a childrens play area at the hotel with slide/swing sand ect and a park just infront of the hotel with a football/baskeball pitch. There are 2 or 3 local supermarkets for your foods ect. The free minibus service to the beach takes less than 10 minutes and is ran 10am - 11am - 4pm - 5pm. Although they run at these times, if you wish to go back they are more than welcome to take you if you ask them politley. The beach is beautiful the sand is soft and very hot, the sea is almost carm and there is bar/cafe to eat and drink at. When going into Side town your taxi fare should never cost any more than 12-15 lira! make sure you ask the driver how much they charge before you leave. Side town is about 10-15 minute drive and is very beautiful. There are lots and lots of ruins and the town has LOADS of shops and restaurants. When in the shops they offer you Apple tea but if you get the chance try Mulberry tea its delicous!.The turkish shop owners try and get you in and do get on your nerves most of the time as there is one in every shop you go past. If you are a female they tend to give flattering comments so just watch out :P.. The restaurants are very nice and the harbour is beautiful. The restaurants on the harbour are only a little more expensive but you pay for the view. I would recommend Aphrodite restaurant which is on the harbour. Bags, purses ect are cheap but only if you haggle!... All in All the hotel was beautiful and the holiday was very plesant, good fun, and we would definatley return again sometime. Thankyou

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the myra in june this year, rooms were very clean and staff were friendly. 2 pools which are very clean and a pool bar serving food and snacks. It also has wifi which we could pick up in our room but mostly in reception. We payed for air-con as it was very hot so its worth the money! We initially thought we were a bit far out but with a walk around we soon realised we weren't. We walked to bars and found places to eat and we loved the red lion super friendly and the food was very nice! Some nights we got a taxi or the bus to side old town where all the shops and Restaurants are, this is very busy at night. Plenty to do and great value for money with lovely staff.
