Just had a fab week at the selge nice rooms but no top sheet pool very clean pleasant staff be aware close to the red light district but to be honest no one bothers you it's about a good 20 minute walk to the ruins and town but cheap on the dolmus and no need to catch the city bus it's a 2 minute walk into side town

I booked this hotel as a last minute deal for myself and my partner and at £200 each for return flights and B&B we weren't expecting much. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Our room was at the back of the hotel so we didn't get the noise from the street or the pool bar. It hit over 40 degrees while we were there so paying the nominal sum for air conditioning was a life saver. We would have melted if we'd have opted out. The staff were friendly although didn't speak great English apart from one girl who offered goo local advice. The breakfast was interesting, not to everyone's taste but the fresh bread and honey filled us up for the day. The restaurant was basic with cheesy entertainment but there were some lovely little restaurants close by so we were never stuck for a nice evening. The pool was fine, and never too busy. Walking distance to Side harbour and all the roman ruins which were quite stunning. The restaurants at the harbour are about 50% dearer that those near the Selge so beware. All in all a lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful part of Turkey! If you want a budget holiday for some R&R this is a good choice.

I think most of these reviews are a little harsh !!!! if you pay £400 or less including flights you cant expect 5* hotels and facilities you get what you pay for with this hotel. We found the staff very friendly, if you ask the cleaners for somthing they will oblige. The entertainment was ok , belly dancers etc but we found lots of entertainment out of the hotel eg SIDE town BEAUTIFUL at night. . The prostitutes didn`t acknowledge any tourists , ( they were quite entertaining) so they don`t effect the hotel customers it was my first holiday abroad in 20+ years we went with family and loved it ( the hotel was a base ) if you dont go and see the resort and just stay in the hotel YOU WILL HATE IT !!!!! get out and see the place....... The staff are young lads (sleez with the girls,, so are most Brits ) these lads will make your hols if you let them, they are so nice, just keep them in their place. The rooms !!!! I Take flash wipes everywhere on hols because I hate unclean, my sister booked this and was dreading every stage because she knows what I`m like ,,after 11 hour delay we eventually set off so when we arrived at the hotel at approx 3.30am the manager said we could go in the bar for a de stressing drink ,we took cases to rooms (which I was dreading ) they are exactly the same as shown on the web site ,really not that bad,( I just wiped the taps, toilet seat, etc) basic £400 accomadation( simmples .com) YOU GET WOT U PAY 4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A complete dump and a waste of time and money. Oue room was cleaned twice throughout the duration of our stay (one week). The food was extremely unimpressive, all that was available were kebabs. The staff are sleazy. We were kept on your toes as the staff were always trying to con us out of money. There were prostitutes hanging around outside the hotel every night looking for business. The pool area smelt of fried food. We had to pay extra for for air conditioning. There was a mafia vibe about the management. We couldn't help feeling there was a lot more 'going down' at The Selge than met the eye.

My partner and I stayed at the Selge two weeks ago. On arrival, we were ready to look for another hotel after being shown our room. It was dingy and dirty. The walls were filthy, there was blood on the pillow and the pillowcases had a yellow tinge to them. The shower cubicle was also covered in mould and mildew. We immediately complained and was given a room two doors down, which wasnt much better.
You have to pay £20 extra per week if you want air conditioning in your room, £10 per week if you want use of a safe and £10 if you would like a portable tv in your room. During our stay here, most people complained about their rooms and the staff.

We were boarding on a bed & breakfast basis, however when we saw the buffet breakfast which consisted of boiled eggs, salad, olives, and cold meat, we decided to eat elsewhere every morning. They dont even serve fresh coffee. I ordered a cappucino as it was on the menu, and was bemused when I saw them plugging the kettle in ready to add water to a sachet of cappucino powder that just filled my mouth with lumpy powder!

The staff are all either letchy or moody apart from one of the barmen who was very friendly and helpful.
The evening entertainment....well there isnt any provided by the hotel. The music they play at the bar is dull and repetitive. However, what they dont tell you in the brochure is that THE HOTEL IS JOINED ON TO A BROTHEL!!! The hotel is on a corner by a taxi rank which is where the dozen prostitutes hang out every evening. They formed the evening entertainment each night whilst we were having a drink at the bar, watching them run and hide in the back of taxis when the police van drives by several times a night. In fact there was no escaping the prostitutes as our balcony looked over a seedy alleyway and motel/ brothel which is where the women took the punters when they had picked them up off the street! Yes, it was a charming little place the Selge....

The beach is a 30/40 min walk from the hotel which was rather disappointing when you have to walk in 40 degrees heat. The hotel does put on a free bus which picks guests up from the hotel at three times between 10 & 11 am and brings you back at 4:30.

I read the reviews on the Selge before I booked, and on the whole they were quite good apart from one or two. However, I now realise that the good reviews were about a different Selge hotel, not related to this one (Selge hotel & spa?? - this is different to that which is being reviewed here).

Just to reiterate, avoid the Selge hotel in Side at all costs!!
