My husband and I (30’s) have recently returned from a week at this new hotel. Just to give you a background as to why we chose this hotel, we have never been to Turkey before but we needed a good value holiday as we are currently saving to return to our favourite holiday destination next year. We paid just over £1K for two adults for the week. We also wanted a quiet, peaceful hotel and preferably child free to get some R&R.
Our hotel room was facing the back of the hotel towards the street, we were surrounded by other large hotels and unfortunately the one opposite insisted on playing awful extremely loud music from 10am until midnight, we could hear the music word perfect when our balcony door was shut.
The room itself was lovely and spacious with the usual two single beds pushed together.
The food was excellent, we always had the late breakfast which appeared to be no different from the normal breakfast, we always had to wait and ask for coffee, the tea was not drinkable, take your own teabags if you’re a tea drinker. Lunch we found was a little repetitive. Dinner was lovely, wonderful choices and we generally found we got a better service at dinner for drinks etc, we on the whole didn’t have to ask for drinks. The bbq food is especially tasty. The icecream is also wonderful.
The AI drinks we found were pretty awful, the house white and house sparkling white are not drinkable in my opinion, the red was just about bearable, however we both like quality wines on the whole. We tried about 3 cocktails, again not drinkable, so we lived on water and lager.
Staff – we found they were polite but always without fail talked to us in German and on a few occasions had to ask colleagues to interpret our request for water which got a bit frustrating as the week went on. As already said we had to ask for drinks at lunch and breakfast.
Guests – Mainly middle aged Germans, and there appeared to be a lot of smokers.
Pool – We were by the pool on our first day but I found the music extremely loud, I was listening to a podcast on my ipod and had it on maximum volume and still the pool music drowned it out, again at breakfast we found the (awful) music very loud. Therefore we chose to spend our time on the beach to escape the music for some peace.
The Beach – as previously mentioned we have never done large AI hotels before and this was a bit of a shock, the beach appeared to me what I imagine Benidorm to be like, absolutely rammed full of sunbeds backed by never ending large hotels. The sea was warm, but we are used to very quiet tropical beaches in the Indian ocean so it wasn’t what we’re used to.
We found the entertainment to be pretty awful from the little that we saw, again geared towards middle aged clientele.
Noise – one evening (or rather very early morning) we heard guests coming back to their rooms slamming doors extremely loud and for a very long time, we also we were woken most mornings with construction noise, not machines etc but rather hammers etc, I slept with earplugs.
We went with Thomas Cook, the flight was ok but we unfortunately we surrounded by screaming children on the way out there.
Would we return, no, would we recommend it to our friends, no, however it has demonstrated to us that we will stick to smaller more unique and quieter hotels with more character, however it was very cheap.
