The staff at the beach bar are also very friendly good at serving the guests and are very happy The local newspaper shop in the hotel is very friendly with his customers,. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone, because of the staff of this hotel. We stayed on the 3rd floor good views of the sea.!

Upon arrival we were impressed by the hotel grounds, and blown away by our 2 bedroom apartment. Our room was by far the biggest, cleanest and most modern we have stayed in, with a side sea view. We were impressed with the daily free mini bar and the small kitchenette was a bonus.
One of the reasons we chose the hotel, apart from location from beach, was the size of the restaurant. It was huge and airy, so the queues were never that bad. However, I wasn't impressed with the temperature or variety of the food and the fact we were often ignored in favour of German/Russian speaking tourists. One lunchtime, we had finished our lunch, before our drinks finally arrived, despite politely asking twice. On the plus side, this is the most 'inclusive' all inclusives we have been to. The crepes and ice-cream were delicious!
The hotel has a spa, but its far cheaper to do the Thomson excursion to the local hammam, which includes a minibus there and back....bliss!
The hotel has the worst sun bed situation. Management always responds to other reviewers that this is going to be addressed, but not did that happen. Other hotels we have stayed in, have removed towels left out before 8am. In the end, we were of the mind if you can't beat them, join them and we just set our alarm for 6.45am every day and went back to bed. (It certainly didn't ruin our holiday).
The entertainment team were great and the evening entertainment a good standard, in particular the Russian circus. I did notice that bar staff handed out glasses to kids and not plastic cups and we were forever hearing smashed glasses near the stage and by the pools ;-)
We found the rep helpful and took her advice to walk into Side at night and the well organised taxi rank had fixed prices published on a board, which was reassuring.
All in all, its a good hotel, VERY clean and attractive, but for us the food stopped it being perfect.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom suites well worth paying extra for.

Our confidence in Arum to deliver a really high quality holiday again, was not unfounded. In our 14 years of visiting there has been no relaxation of standards. We are a family of 4 (2 teens). This time we had a garden room - 2 bedrooms, air con, balcony overlooking garden. Very well appointed, comfortable, spotlessly clean - sheets and towels whenever needed. Convenient location for pool, beach and restaurants; we've always had an indoor room, but this was equally good!
Great to see so many staff still there after many years - always a good sign.
The hotel facilities are spotless, pools cleaned daily, gardens beautifully tended, every surface washed and swept, beach raked every night. Plenty of sunbeds, not too silly with the early morning towel rush - there were still beds available by 8:00am.
Food was of a terrific standard - a wide selection of international dishes to suit all palates; always 1 or 2 chefs working to personally cook something for you. Every night presented a different theme, our favorites being the Turkish night, oriental night and black and white gala; even our children were happy. With lunchtime snacks at the Bonsai and crepes and ice cream available all day - no one can get hungry.
The hotel has a range of useful shops and a news agent - all very pleasant and we used the hairdresser to perform the beaded plats for out daughter - lovely job!
The one big change this year was the introduction of external entertainment - WOW! Real quality - Moscow State Circus, Bejing acrobats, plus a host of others.
Special thanks go to old friends Sedar, Cihat, Osman, Zeki and Ugur. At Arum, you feel like an individual not just a "mass tourist". We cannot recommend this hotel or the Barut Group highly enough. You won't be disappointed.

We have in past years gone to the Barut Lara, however as our preferred holiday company no longer provide holidays to that hotel, we opted for this hotel as it was from the same chain and with good reviews. The welcome on arrival was warm and throughout our stay all staff were helpful and courteous. We had paid to upgrade to a two bed apartment and we were really pleased we did. Be aware if you are upgrading to two bed apartments these are in blocks outside the main hotel building, are three stories high and have no left. Therefore if you have someone with a physical disability or reduced mobility they will struggle if you are allocated a top floor.

Room - amazing, wonderful sea an pool views. Nice touches were the tray of fruit, having a little kitchenette, free to use safe, bath towels in your room etc. On the balcony we had a sturdy table and four chairs and a small clothes horse to dry out towels, swimming costumes etc. The rooms were cleanish - I say this as the floors constanty felt gritty and when my son knocked over a drink, when we cleaned it up it was evident that we had cleared up a lot of dirt and dust as you could see where we had wiped. Having said this, if you see the equipment the cleaners have (straw brooms etc) you can understand why. However the maid who did do our room always cleaned the remainder of things incredibly well. We gave her a small tip at the end of the holiday and she was incredibly grateful.

Food in the buffet restraunt was great, food changed slightly at each meal which gave good variety. We used the Italien restraunt whilst there and the food was wonderful. We didn't try any other a la cartes but would have done if we had been there for more than a week. No tips are expected, there are tip boxes however direct tipping of the staff appears frowned up. If you wanted to tip someone you really felt you had to do this on the sly. I really wanted the the two members of staff who had waited on us incredibly well to benefit from the tip.

Pools were impeccibly clean however if you want a sun lounger by the pool you more or less have to get down before 6am if you need loungers for more than 3 people together. On our first morning I woke really early (5am) and people were alreay heading out for a jog and putting their towels down. I was disappointed that no swimming in the pools was allowed before 8am as I like an early morning swim, but can understand that this may be safety reasons. The pool bar was good and snacks of paninis etc are available from late morning. Pools are a suitable depth for youngsters and experienced swimmers. Have a go at the aqua aerobics - kids can join in and even the men have a go.

The beach was wonderful! It was fantastic to see a hotel which had considered disabled holiday makers. As you leave the promanade to go ont the beach there is a wooden slatted walk way. Immediately to the right of this walkway is a small decked area with two loungers specifically for disabled guest - the only thing that would be nice is that the bins are moved from immediately behind it. Immediately behind the beach is the ampitheatre, toilets and pool bar and a lady who makes stuffed flat breads which are to die for. A small walk up some steps is the snack restraunt where you can get pizzas, burgers, salads etc so there is lovely food for everyone.

Don't waste your money buying reps tours of the ruins in Side - ask reception to get you a cab, it takes about 7 minutes and for three of us cost us 25 liras. Its another 15 lira each to get into the ampitheatre ruins but the remainder are free to wander around. We did walk down the shops to the sea front. Just take lots of water with you. There are a few shops on site, but nothing spectacular to write home about and going into Side you can get your "genuine fake" handbags etc as our rep put it. Do be careful with some of the shop owners who allow you to haggle them down and will then try and drag you to another shop they own. You do need to be firm and say no. Shops that have prices on display as special offers will not let you haggle.

The only downside to our stay at Barut Arum was the last day. We had prepaid for a late check out. We checked the night before our departure what we needed to do and were advised to go to the desk the next morning where they would extend the card. We duly did this and at 2pm, I headed off to the room with my son. When we had got up the stairs, the key card wouldn't work. We ran down and got the other card of my partner, ran back up, still wouldn't work. Ran down to reception who said that there was nothing on our records to show the late check out - this being the receptionist who I had seen that morning. I said I could prove to her it was the case, but the paperwork was in the safe and to show her I needed to get into the apartment. She then took my card, advised me she had extended it however, on my return it still wouldn't work. By now, hot, frustrated and having had to climb up and down four sets of steps on three occasions in less than ten minutes I was wasn't impressed to turn up at reception and the person who I had been dealing with wasn't there and had to go through all of the above again. Eventually, we got it resolved but as we were about to leave our apartment, the next guests were trying to open the door! The maid hadn't even been back to get the room ready.

All in all however it was a lovely holiday. We enjoyed it and would go back again if we couldn't get a place at the Barut Lara.

Got back from a 2 week stay at the Arum last week (group of 8 of us, 4 adults, 4 teens) I will keep my review fairly brief as everybody seems to have the same option:-). Perfect hotel in almost every aspect, food amazing and I never wanted every plateful to end, the best food I have had on any summer family holiday, the buffet and grill area outside was just amazing variety, quality and taste! Same goes for the a la carte restaurants, these just made a nice change to be served rather than going up to the buffet but to be fair the food and service in the main buffet restaurant was great so not a biggy if you couldn't get in to the other restaurants. Having said that, the Petunia restaurant overlooking the beach was just beautiful to have dinner in of an evening - served by our lovely Arif who looked after us day and night - big thank you - to sit with amazing food and wine and watch the sun go down was just great, another moment I didn't want to end! The Bonsai is perfect for lunch and we went there every day (table quickly found for us by the very efficient and hard working Arif) super variety of food for all of us, Arif would immediately bring us our drinks having a super memory with what we all liked! Promote him!!:-)
Being a party of 8 we are always concerned about being able to get beds but as we are not fussed to be around the pool area there were plenty of lovely grassy area's with beds near to bars, the beach and a quick flip fop from the pool, my husband is an early riser so he would go and get us some beds around 7am but even if he hadn't we would've got beds later on these grassy area's.
Staff do immediately speak German to you as the majority of visitors were German but not a problem with anybody understanding English. The whole place is perfectly clean and really well kept, free mini bar in room kept stocked everyday (super bonus) clean towels, bed linen etc (I did find the bed super hard but I was the only one out of us all that did).
As I said I wouldn't rumble on....basically everything was great and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again next year!
.........One downside to our group hols...... our friends had issues with the loss of personal belongings which both the rep and Guest Relations were really not particularly helpful or that bothered about which was a real shame as everything else was perfect:-/.

Room Tip: The higher up you are the better view you will have of pools and the sea, we were on the 5th floor...

We have just come back from the Arum. Overall, it was pleasant enough but it didn't have a lot of magic. The food was good quality but repetitive. The one pool was okay but could get really overcrowded. The spa pool was shut which was a shame as at least there could have been an alternative pool to swim in if you fancied doing a couple of lengths for exercise, maybe it could be an adult only pool. The spa manager & staff were very unpleasant & down right unfriendly, a welcoming smile would have been nice & the offer to be shown around & informed of what was on offer, the spa itself also completely lacked any ambience. The entertainment by the pool bar consisted of a live band but it was the same songs every night & the type of songs that you wouldn't really want to dance to, maybe a slow dance, again this was a shame as it could have been an opportunity for adults to let their hair down a bit to something a little more bobby as the disco was for teenagers really. Please be careful of the sea, there were lots of rocks that you couldn't see & no signs indicating this except a no diving sign but no given explanation. The amphitheater entertainment was okay, they made a lot of effort. The rooms were fine, cleaned every day, fresh towels, etc. On the whole, having been to Barut, Lara Beach, 4 times, where in comparison, there are a lot more facilities, a lot more imaginative entertainment, eg, beach parties, fireworks, the opportunity to do your barbecue, etc & a real feeling of luxury, the Arum doesn't compare. There was also a problem with rats however, the cats & cleaners made a good job of catching them. The jet skis, sofa & banana boat rides were very expensive. One of the highlights of being at the Arum was meeting a lovely couple called Vic & Sue, which was really nice as the Germans" aloofness & very definite unfriendliness gets quite wearing after a while. I would give this hotel a rating of 3/4.

Just returned from our first visit to Barat Arum and we were not disappointed. The hotel is stunning, the grounds are kept spotless and our 2 bedroom apartment was perfect. The food was to die for andam finding it difficult to get back into having to cook for ourselves. Where is someone with my afternoon pina colada??? Getting a sunbed by the pool can be a problem as in any hotel but there are loads of sunbeds around the grounds and our favourites were those under the palm trees which were vital in temperatures of 40 degrees! The entertainment was great, especially the Mongolian Acrobats WOW!! The entertainment staff were really friendly without being pushy. Would recommend Barat Arum to couples and families and would return in an instant! Thankyou to everyone at Arum for a wonderful wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: The apartments around the hotel were very spacious. Only downside is that you have to leave the air...
