After a problematic start (we were allocated a room suitable for disabled clients which we were not which did not have any storage furniture) we had a great time. Unfortunately we could not et another room until next day but the staff were very helpful and sorted it out. Unlike TUI who were not interested in any problem we had.
The restaurant was spotless clean at all times; great variety of food to suit every palette. As it was low season the a la carte restaurants and patisserie were not open. The grounds were well kept and always clean. The walkway into Side (about 2km away) was a very pleasant stroll; with the sea running alongside all the way. There was no TUI rep in the hotel (so no welcome meeting for passengers new to the area). However there was a Customer Service Desk operated by the hotel who were great. What spoilt our holiday was no fault of the hotel staff but the lack of support from TUI, My colleague was admitted to hospital twice during our stay with a trapped nerve in her back. The so called 24/7 service was useless - when we rang at 22.40 hrs we were transferred to someone in Palma? who then said it was too late for anyone to help out. 24/7 hrs - no way. Didn't even contact us next day to see if all if she was well enough to travel.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view.

On arriving to the barut arum hotel we found the reception staff to be very helpful.
The hotel grounds and the hotel it's self are very clean and kept to a very high level.
The restaurants and snack bars a very nice with great food coming from each of them lots of choice and always presented very nice indeed.
They do have a good amount of cocktails on offer plus efes in bottles and on draft the same with the Becks.
Some international branded spirts on offer
The mini fridge is a great touch which is refilled every day with soft drinks a 2 bottles of lager.
There is a free massage but you need to ask at reception for a couch that must be used within 48 hours.
The transfer times are around 1 hour.
All in all this hotel ticks all the boxes.
We will be back.

My husband and I have just returned from 11 nights at the Barut Arum. After a very bad start with a seven and a half hour flight delay, things only improved slightly. We should have arrived at approx 11pm but due to the delay we only got to the hotel at 7am the next day! We booked this hotel 12 months in advance and paid the princely sum of a £500 supplement for a penthouse Junior suite but this wasn't the room allocated to us on arrival. We complained and was duly given the room we paid for.

The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning gardens. It is spotlessly clean and very well run, however, it has predominantly German and Russian guests with only about 10% being English. Everything was in favour of the Germans, including the food which was more suited to the German palate. We struggled some days to put a decent meal together and found the food very, very repetitive. If we never see another meatball it will be too soon!

Some of the staff were lovely but a lot of the waiters ignored us a lot of the time, especially when standing at the bar waiting to be served. Again, the Germans got preferential treatment. We honestly felt like second class citizens.

Also, we have never experienced a holiday where the amount of children outnumbered the adults. We are pensioners and prefer a quiet, relaxing holiday and always choose to go outside of the UK school holidays, but there were hundreds of school age children, babies and toddlers so it was not the chilled out holiday we expected.

The reserving of sun beds was a major problem that really needs to be addressed. Both my husband and I witnessed people putting towels out as early as 5am and by 7 most of the poolside beds had gone. We had to settle for sun beds on the grass as we wasn't prepared to be as selfish as all the other guests. But if you really like to sunbathe around a pool then you must set your alarm clock for between 5 & 7 am! Management are fully aware of this problem as its been mentioned in lots of other reviews but unfortunately nothing has been done to rectify this.

We tried all of the al a carte restaurants, the Mimosa being our favourite. The staff in there were very attentive and the service and food was excellent. Our experience of the International wasn't good.....again, the German guests got the best service and we were practically ignored. Add to that they wanted to charge us £22 for a bottle of wine that we didn't have!!

We think this hotel is more for families rather than couples and for this reason and other reasons stated we would not return. We are due to go to the Acanthus and Cennet in September that we booked a year ago and we're now looking forward to this holiday with trepidation. We just hope we get treated as equally as all the other nationalities.

Room Tip: The penthouse suites are lovely but just make sure you get the room you paid for.

Stayed here in the school holidays for 1 week transferring to a self catering apartment the second week.

Rooms were fabulous, slightly better than Barut Lara where we stayed in October. Food was good and plentiful, not all drinks were branded but this wasn't a problem. Excellent pool and beach area, staff everywhere were very accommodating.

The only negative was having to get up at 7.30a.m. to get sunbeds for 7 people. I think the hotel policy on putting towels out needs to change. Hardly any of the sunbeds were occupied when we arrived after breakfast 10.00-10.30 a.m.

It was much easier at the end of the week presumably when the school holidays ended and the hotel wasn't as busy.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroomed apartments were much quieter than the double/twin rooms

Hotel was great from start to end.

Arrival:

Upon arrival we were instantly made to feel very welcome and given all of the information including: a la carte restaurants, meal times, towels and FREE mini bar in the room which was topped up daily. Rooms, hotel ground and pools all very clean and landscaping beautiful everyday.

Sun Beds:

My partner and I were a little sceptical on the first morning about sun beds being available and much to our delight there were plenty of sun beds left at 8.30am which meant not getting up at the crack of dawn every morning (we later found out that there was actually a ban on putting towels down on sun beds before 8am).

Disabled Access:

My partner has an auntie with a disability and so it was nice to see the hotel was disabled friendly and that all hotel staff went out of their way to ensure their every need was accommodated for which we thought was a very nice touch.

Food:

Lots of different food available to try for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just don't be like us and eat waffles and crepes every morning with honey and chocolate! In addition to the buffet food on offer you can also go and eat with a view of the sea in the beach bar and order from a set menu from 11:00 - 16:00. We also attended all 3 a la carte restaurants and particularly enjoyed the Chinese restaurant!! On that note, don't be disappointed if you can't book a table there, as every Wednesday they have a Chinese buffet on top of the regular food in the main restaurant.

Drink:

Good variety of drink available, even the branded alcohol such as Efes (bottle and draught) and Becks and spirits such as Barcardi (just make sure you ask for it specifically if that's what you want). Throughout the day at the pool all you have to do is walk up to the bar or swim up to the pool bar and grab your drinks and go or sit and chill out in much needed shaded area.

Entertainment:

Brilliant and keeps young and old entertained!

Location:

Great, turn right at the beach front and it takes you along the beach where there are bars and restaurants and then to some shops or turn left and it takes you in to Side. Turn right outside the front of the hotel and it takes you to a mini market where you can buy magnets, ankle bracelets and football kits! Also, you must visit Manavgat's waterfull and can do so for 12 TL each! Walk out the front of the hotel and then on the left hand side of main road is a bus, take that to center for 3 TL (10-15 mins) and then get off and get a bus to Sefale for 3 TL and then get off at Wasserfall and pay 6 TL and view a pretty waterfall :).

Thank you to all the staff at Barut Arum, the holiday was amazing and we cannot wait to come back already!
