“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

We visited this hotel at the end of July into August for 12 days.
The hotel is clean and well maintained.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped with orange, lemon, olive and banana trees.
We booked a deluxe room which was a good size. It was above the new swim out rooms, with views of the Olive restaurant, quieter pool and sea.
My bed was lumpy, otherwise everything else was okay.
The food was very good and beautifully presented. We booked three a la carte restaurants with the help of the public relations lady near reception. Our favourite was the Olive (Italian) restaurant. Service was very good at all restaurants.
There is plenty of choice at the buffet, and gorgeous desserts or fruit if you prefer.
The patisserie was excellent with a good choice of tempting cakes and icecreams.
They also serve icecream at the Beach Bar from 3.30pm and popcorn early evening for the children.
There are a lot of cats at the resort, and the children adored them.
The weather was fantastic and very hot, reaching 41oC on a few days.
This is a lovely family resort, and we would recommend it.

11 of us travelled to the Hemera for 2 weeks, 7 adults and 11 teenagers age 15 to 17.
Check in wasn't great, arrived at 4 am went to our rooms to find 4 if us in one room when we had booked 2 bedroom family rooms. Walked back to reception and night porter was rude and unhelpful. Telling us 'I am no one. I cannot help you come back tomorrow!' Manager next morning was helpful and polite explaining the hotel had overbooked and by 1.30 we had correct rooms. The family rooms where great, spacious with two bedrooms, clean and modern. If the night porter had explained over booking and that we would move next day we would have been fine, but trips backwards and forwards at 4 in the morning is not on.
Pools are lovely, clean and plenty of beds (if you are an early riser!).
Beach is nice, clean and again plenty of beds available at any time.
We spent our evenings at the pool bar, bar staff friendly and never had to wait long to be served. A few iced cocktails would be good, we adapted by adding alcohol to the kids slushes that are available!!
Food was of a good standard, Arif at the Hemera restaurant always made sure we had drinks and decorated our table with flowers! We did find the food to be repetitive, although cooked well we found every evening to be similar if not the same. The salad bar was very good.
We only managed to visit the Olive restaurant as the card booking system won't allow you to book for 11 (when it worked!). We spoke to a women at guest relations who informed us that she didn't make bookings and everyone uses the card machine! After pointing out we where a party of 11 she agreed to make one booking for us and no more! Think this system needs looking at as other guests where staying up after midnight so they could book.
Over all we did have a good holiday, yes there where a few niggles but nothing that would stop us going back. The staff are really friendly and helpful (other than night porter) and our teenagers had a great time in the evenings.

Location is great right on beach but hidden from view, in august sea was amazingly warm and could always find a sunbed on beach. Same couldnt be said for pools as despite requests not to, people put towels out from 1am so pretty much all seats taken when we went out at 7.30. main pool music can be a bit loud but quieter areas too so that was great. Food is excellent and a night in the a la carte restaurants is very nice as apart from food it gets you away from the very busy main restaurant. I would recomend the snack bar is open from 11as if you miss breakfast you have to wait until half 12 for anything to eat other than cake. The cost of staying here is reflected in the standard of the hotel however our room that had me and my husband and two children in it (12+7) was no bigger than a standard premier inn room. This is ok for a couple of nights but selling it as a deluxe room for two weeks isnt really very good when you consider what you are paying. The rooms are cleaned well and daily, beach towels provided and can also be changed daily at the towel hut by the pools. My biggest gripe was that after week 1 when we got a good nights sleep every night, due to the changeover of guests, we were all woken by english guests coming back to their rooms either talking or shouting to each other or racing up and down the corridor at 11.30pm and 1am and showing absolutely no consideration for anyone who doesnt stay up late. All in all a really good all inclusive but probably needs tp address some issues. One final note- during the kids disco at half 8 they play "i am the music man" and one of the verses is the theme to the dambusters. Although the animation team didnt pretend to be aeroplanes racing round the stage but flapped there arms like something offswan lake, it was slightly bemusing seeing as over half the audience are german.

We arrived home on 8th August after a fantastic 2 week holiday at Barut Hemera with our 2 teenage sons. We have been on lots of all inclusive holidays but this one beats the lot of them in every aspect. Here is my review.

Hotel reception

- On arrival we were greeted by lovely polite reception staff, who checked us in very promptly and we were shown to our room by a lovely night porter. We were informed that the night buffet was still open where we could get some food if we wanted it. ( I did notice during our stay that if guests were due to arrive after 1 am when the buffet was closed, sandwiches and drinks were provided in reception) .

Room - We were very pleased with our family room (1301) which was on the first floor overlooking the front entrance to the hotel. The room was spotless clean, with big high comfy beds and they were cleaned everyday. On arrival, we found a beach bag containing 4 beach/pool towels on our beds, which you can change at the booth during or at the end of the day. The room had a free mini bar which was refilled every morning and we had a balcony with table and chairs. We had a lovely spaceous bathroom with shower and minature bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, nail file, comb etc which were replenished everyday. We were also provided with slippers and dressing gowns. We really could not fault our room or service.

Pool - There are 3 lovely pools to choose from, the main pool where all the activities take place, the relax pool and the pool next to the swim up rooms. There is also a childrens pool with mini slide, right next to the toilets that are spotless clean and have baby change facillities. The poolside is very clean and the staff come round emptying the little bins on a regular basis. During the morning time, the staff come round the pool with a drinks trolley and in the afternoon they come round offering slices of melon, which I thought was a lovely touch.

Pool/beach bar - Both of these bars offer excellent service and serve lovely food/snacks during the day. The pool bar offers chips, chicken, baguettes and wraps, etc whereas the beach bar offers something a little more substantial. For example, you can help yourself to the hot and cold buffet of pastas, salads, fish, meat, rice etc but you can also order from the menu, usually things like, burgers, salad, omelettes, pizzas - all very tasty and beautifully garnished.

Main restaurant - Could not fault the food or service in the restaurant. There was plenty of choice and it was evident that the chefs were highly skilled and professional because the food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Most of the food was cooked infront of you and there was always a joint of meat being carved by the chef, a different joint every night. The staff were very professional and went out of their way to offer an excellent serice. We had a barbeque on 2 occasions which was all set out on the lawn in front of the restaurant, the food was fantastic.

Entertainment - Had some really good entertainment down at the beach bar, my favourite being the Mongolian acrobats, the Moscow circus and the strictly come dancing. The entertainment started at 9.30 pm but before this was the mini disco. What I really liked about the entertainments team was the fact that they really did look after the children well. I didn't have young children with me, but I do work with children so I know good quality care when I see it. They would teach them dances during the day at kids club then perform on the stage in the evening. The entertainment team were really lovely and all work very hard.
The entertainment finishes at around 10.15 but the beach bar stays open till 1 am. it would have been nice to have had some traditional Turkish (belly dancing type) of music playing in the background. :-)

The beach - beautiful private sandy beach with plenty of loungers and a floating jetty (exclusive to Hemera guests). Pedalalos are free to hire too. There are the occasional rocks under the water in parts, which sometimes you can't see if the sea is choppy, so be careful.

Hair salon - a must visit for all men if you require a shave or even a hair cut. This is run by a lovely friendly guy and his team. My hubby took himself off for a shave and came back with his eyebrows waxed and threaded, ha ha.

Photographer - AVOID at all costs. If hotel management is reading this, then I am so sorry but we had a negative experience with the photographer at Hemera. This is the only complaint we have of the hotel as everything else was perfect.
We were going to dinner one evening when the photographer stopped us to take some shots. He told us they would be ready to view the next day. When we went to view them, he told us that HE wasn't happy with the photos and tried to persuade us to meet him at sunset the next evening and go with him to different locations to have a shoot. We declined the offer and told him that we just wanted a couple of family photo's of the 4 of us so that we could fondly remember our wonderful holiday. He was not happy with us as he wanted us to pay 80 EU for a selection of photo's. In the end we told him we would buy just 1 family photo and he charged us £7 for just a small "unframed" photo. When we walked out of the shop, he started talking about us to one of his colleagues ( I can understand some Turkish). These photographers are very intimidating and need speaking to about this. It is a good job I am quite a strong person and was able to stand my ground.

Hotel management and staff - this hotel is very well managed, all the staff are very polite and professional and will do anything to help you in any way they can. There are security guards on the premises - one at the exit to the hotel by the beach and the other at the front, so there is no fear of anybody wandering onto the complex at night etc. My hubby and I went for a little walk along the beach one evening and on returning, we were asked to show our room card, which we found quite reassuring.

We had a most wonderful holiday at Hemera hotel and WILL be back again. We want to bring our 2 granddaughters, (one of them isn't born yet) and next year she will be just 8 months old, so a little too young to enjoy it. However, we will be returning in the summer 2016 with our 2 sons, daughter, son in law and 2 granddaughters. We hope that it is as good as it was this year.
Thank you to all the staff at hemera for a lovely holiday

We have visited this hotel for the fourth time already and we were very satisfied with our stay. We always book a room in the new part of the hotel with a view on the very beautiful garden. The rooms are big, comfortable and cleaned on a daily basis. The food is very good as well. We fell in Barut Hemera like at home. Another advantage of this place is very nice beach and a walkway to Side, where you can go on a nice walk every morning. This is the first hotel, that we have visited more than once! It has been our fourth stay already and we definitely will come back in the future. The hotel is very guest friendly - we come back soon!

Travelled in July as 2 adults and 2 teenage children. Had a very spacious family room which had a spacious terrace with chairs and a table and 2 sun loungers. There was a mini fridge in the room which was restocked daily and also facilities to make tea and coffee. On arrival the pool towels were provided in a beach bag in the room. Found wifi signal really good in room, could even get it on the beach!

The food and drink provided in the hotel was plentiful, we could always sit where we wanted to, and we always found something we liked. We enjoyed sitting at the beach bar for lunch with the view of the beach. We ate at 3 of the pre book able restaurants, the Turkish, International and The Olive. All were great with great service, if you have difficulty booking these, see guest relations and she will help you out.

The pool and gardens were fantastic, we always got sunbeds, I don't think it's really an issue unless you are particular about where you want to be around the pool.

The entertainment team were great, encouraged you to join in but it was fine if you didn't want to take part. Our teenage daughters liked the water gym, darts, archery and yoga. All the entertainment team were friendly and approachable.

Would definitely recommend a visit into Side to see the ruins and shops. We walked in at night, takes about 30-40 minutes, but reception will call a taxi if you want one. The shops in Side are great too, although there are some across the road from the hotel which are probably more reasonable price wise.

A great holiday, would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Barut Hemera June this year. The hotels decor was lovely, very modern and contemporary, this continued onto the a la carte dining restaurants, these were all very nice.
The big let down was the food and service....the main buffet restaurant was very much like a canteen, which is expected in such a large AI hotel ,the food served here was mediocre ,nice salad bar but no real meat choices, all there seemed to be were stews ,once I saw a joint of beef being carved but this was dry an not appealing. The waiters need to be trained properly ,no smiles and talking very loudly to each other over guests heads..the food in a la cartes wasn't great either...not bad but Definately not 5star ...all in all 5stars for decor 3 for food and service.
Upon leaving we checked out and paid an outstanding bill,we were greeted by a disgruntled receptionist who didn't smile and didn't even ask if we had enjoyed our stay or thans for staying with us!,
I have stayed in much better 4 star hotels which is a shame as this hotel has so much potential .
