“GREAT HOLIDAY”
Reviewed 20 September 2011

Firstly I must say that Thomas Cook is about the worst Airline in the world even Ryanair has more legroom. Emergency exits between seats is about 18 inches wide. Find another way of getting to a wonderful hotel.
Now the Hotel, we arrived at around 5 in the morning, greeted with a glass of Champagne and no waiting at the check in desk, it came to us. Luggage taken to room where in the fridge was a sandwich and refreshments. Absolutely first class particularly after that flight.
The room was exceptionally spacious and clean. Didn't think it needed updating, beds very comfortable with linen and towels changed daily. The room maid, although didn't speak English, was great. (we were in Turkey why should they speak English). We were in block G which was a couple of minutes away from reception, bar and restaurants. There was a pool specifically for the block, main pools, private beach and jetties. Getting to the beach and lawned area for sun bathing was a little further but we had no problem getting sun beds, all the more remarkable because there was 11 of us. The animation team were some of the best I've come across not being pushy but trying to motivate us. We took a couple of days to get into the swing of things but when we eventually joined in FABULOUS. Murka one of the team we re-named Barry Manilow was brilliant and made our holiday, always curteous and laughing. Thanks Murka if you ever get to read this. The evening entertainment was very very good with groups coming from outside, as well as the Animation team doing a show each evening including on of the best Michael Jackson shows I've seen. The Disco at the end of the evening was also great again the animation team were there till 1am on one occassion putting on a "Grease" dance show.
The food was very good with something for everyone including Burgers, fresh pizza, nuggets , fries as well as turkish foods, pastas well the list goes on. The 4 other restaurants were the Turkish which was very good but lighting poor we couldn't see what we were eating. The Chinese exceeded our expectations, brilliant, the Italian was ok, the Fish restaurant again very good. With the exception of the Italian the service was very good in all restaurants.
Breakfast was ok no English sausages or bacon but plenty of everything else. The Egg cook could do with a lesson in cooking eggs and smiling. Lunch was again exceptional with a vast menu with something for everyone.
The bars again were very very good with the staff always happy to serve you. During the evening entertainment our waiter was Cengis well worth tipping his service was exceptional bringing us drinks without having to keep re-ordering and he knew what we wanted the next evening. When I say tip we are talking 2-3 pounds per night for service that was exceptional.
Finally thanks to all the staff who made our holiday so memorable we will return. Last year we went to the WOW in Bodrum and didn't think we could top that in Turkey but this Hotel did by a mile.

Room Tip: Use the Dolmus local bus to Side for Shops fare 1 euro. Cab 8 euros will take you right into town th...

Visited this hotel for the third time in 3 years. Rooms do need some updating but they are very clean and spacious. The hotel is kept spotless and the garden areas are well maintained.
Te food is absolutely fantastic and if anyone can't find a range of food to enjoy then they are truly fussy eaters. Visited the Chinese and Italian A La Carte restaurants, service was very good, choice is limited but the menu is shown outside beforehand so that you are aware of what you will be eating, quality is excellent.
There are a range of activities for all age groups and no pressure to join in anything if you don't want to.
The majority of the staff in the hotel are very polite and friendly, just the odd one that appeared a bit miserable.
Outside the hotel it is very easy to catch the local buses and also very cheap, just politely say no to the taxi drivers who try their best to get your custome.
Have booked again for next year, never been to the same place twice previously, but hotel fab and easy to get out and about in local area.

Room Tip: If wanting peaceful evenings then don't go for a room overlooking the pool area as entertainment...

This hotel was amazing; the food, staff and rooms were excellent. Our rooms were suites; there are four themed restaurants as well as the buffet (the chinese was great); it really was the whole package; 11 of us went. The animation team were really good (Murka being one of them); they tried to get people involved with activities without pressure and their nightly shows (dancing etc.) were well worth sitting through.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to singles or families; it was a truly lovely holiday.

After reading the reviews of this hotel, it did not seem like we would need to worry about what we were going to. And this proved 100% correct. This hotel would take a lot of beating by any standards.
We travelled as 2 couples and had requested rooms next to each other. On arrival at 2.30 am, we were greeted by cold champagne, and given a full rundown by the hotel staff member on the hotel. We were informed that we had been upgraded to a villa as no rooms available together. But this did not suit once we were shown the villa, as it was basically 1 big double room and a similar size living area with 2 single sofas to use as beds. We got this changed to 2 double rooms a few hours later. But i would advise if a couple or family with 2 children were offered this free upgrade, to grab it, as they are lovely.

ROOMS We were allocated rooms in 1 of the outlying buildings in the gardens of the hotel.Block E. Room 6222. Lovely room with lovely view. Just short stroll from main building, and preferred this to the main building for view and the peace and quiet these buildings give you. Spotlessly clean. Good air conditioning unit(Main building air con not so good) Mini bar re-stocked each day with 2xPepsi, 2xWater and 1 each of Soda and Orange.

GROUNDS Absolutely fantastic grounds. Hundreds of trees, colourful bushes etc, All immaculately kept.

POOLS The main pool where all the activities happen is large and adequate. Animation team always have 1 pool game at noon each day, which always produces plenty laughs. They will ask if you want to join in, but are not persistent if you just say no.
Throughout the day, there are water polo, aerobics etc happening for those that want to take part. Always adequate sunbeds. And the good thing is that you cant go down and reserve a bed with your towel before 9am or they are quite rightly lifted off and taken to the towel stand. You can sit at your bed till 9am then go for breakfast and your bed will be ok after that. You just change your towels every day or whenever you want at the stand.
You also have the pool with the flumes. Nothing too elaborate, but good for a few slides into the pool.
There is also a small over 16 pool only. But not our cup of tea. Looked too quiet.

BEACH Plenty sunbeds at beach area also. Plus 2 jettys that have beds and brollys too if that takes your fancy.

FOOD There have been some reviews, not many, but some, who have had certain small issues with the food! All I can say is that they must be regular diners at Michelin star restaurants or just need a moan. As the quality and quantity of the food on offer is quite amazing for a hotel standard. The choices at breakfast, Lunch or main dinner, are superb. Waiter service for your drinks. If you use the same area each night, and tip the waiter early, each night you sit down, he will be across without you even ordering drinks, with the same order as the previous evening. Even if you don’t tip, the service is excellent and friendly.

We also ate 2 nights at the Chinese and Italian Restaurants. Lovely food, and good to be served a la carte for a couple of nights. But even if you don’t get to eat here, the main buffet area as I have said is superb anyway.

ENTERTAINMENT The animation team do a brilliant job, whether it be by the pool or the various activities such as Boules, Archery, Football etc. Or the nightly cabaret show. They are all lovely people and are a credit to the hotel.
The cabaret shows included The Michael Jackson show (Brilliant) Mama Mia (Excellent) A comedy Snow White and 7 dwarfs (Good laugh) And various others. (Some better than others) The bottom line is, these are young amateur people trying to put on activities that suit a wide ranging audience, and as far as I am concerned, do it brilliantly. If its professional shows you want, then book a 5 star cruise or go to Las Vegas. I prefer the type of entertainment this hotel provides.
Cu Cu, Ahmet and Murat were particularly friendly with us, but the rest were lovely too.
There are live bands most nights until 11.30pm in the large bar area. These were also of good quality, and good if you like a dance.

OVERALL Brilliant hotel. Spotlessly clean all over, whether it be the grounds, rooms or restaurants. Not surprised it has rated very highly all over the world on various sites such as trip advisor, travel republic, zoover etc.
Would definitely return.

Room Tip: The garden buildings are more peaceful and good air con

Went to the turquoise on the 26th August for 11 nights as 4 couples 2 of which went here last year, on arrival we were greeted with a drink and cold towel then after a short chat with a member of staff were shown to our rooms, although they were clean and comfortable i was a little disappointed as our room was very dark and the balcony had too much overgrown greenery growing around it. The air con was very good but to be honest i think there are certain little things in the rooms that could do with a a bit of an upgrade for instance the shower fell off the wall when you tried to adjust it and kept running hot & cold, the little dish with the complimentary toiletries in was chipped and as the week went on the towels were almost thread bare, also i was very surprised that there was carpet on the floor with the odd cigarette burn in. No tea /coffee making facilities and it was quite a treck to the lobby bar from our room to get a drink in the morning. The food was very good with plenty of choice and the majority of the staff were friendly & pleasant although the odd one was miserable. Having stayed in 5 star before i would not say this was one of the best and i dont think i would return here. The 2 couples with us who had previously stayed here and recommended it also said that it was not as good as the year before.
On the last day we asked to keep 1 room till 4oclock which our friends had done last year and was told we could only keep it until 3pm but for the same charge as last year 40 euros for 3 hours, when we said that we had kept it until 4 the previous year the German female receptionist was very rude telling us that if we didnt like it then just leave your room at 12. After we explained that there were 8 of us and we only wanted to keep 1 room on and that we would be complaining about her attitude we walked to the dining room for breakfast and was followed by a young man who apologised and said we could keep the room until 4pm free of charge as they had not realised there were 8 of us, mentioning we would be putting a review on the internet had obviously worked.
The entertainment was not very good but we made the most of it and all in all had a good holiday.

Room Tip: take a kettle and some tea & coffee if you like a drink in the morning

Where to start??? What a fantastic holiday. Myself and my husband, together with my parents, visited the Turquoise between 19th August and 2nd September. We were made to feel welcome immediately being greeted with a glass of sparkly wine and a cold towel. We were then told all about the hotel and its surroundings by a lovely member of the reception team before being shown to our 2 bedroomed poolside villa. We arrived late at night and sandwiches were left in our room. our villa room was gorgeous and included a large living room area and 2 double bedrooms (one with en suite) and a separate shower room. They were cleaned to a very high standard every day with fresh linen and towels provided. The air conditioning is perfect (and free). and after having sat in the burning sun all day it was certainly a welcome service. The poolside area is perfect and is shared only between the 10 villas. The sunbeds are numbered in accordance with your room number so there is no confusion as to which ones you are entitled to use. There is also a poolside waiter service for the villa guests.
The large main pool area is also fantastic and a bit more lively. It is around this area where most of the daytime activities take place. (TIP - join in some of the activities as the animation team are great fun - particularly MURKA and the killer darts game). There is plenty of space and we always saw available beds when we spent any time around this area. There is also a jetty area on the beach although it looks like it could be difficult to get a bed on there.
The food is amazing and always plentiful and varied. After breakfast, there is a late breakfast available from 10am til 11am which is handy for any guests who like to lie in a bit later or just decide to have a late morning. At lunch time we tended to eat mostly in the snack bar area. This was my one and only complaint - the waiters who work the snack bar are not very attentive and on various occassions we had to go to the bar to ask for drinks to be served even though half of the waiters were just standing around. It was not a problem for us to obtain our own drinks but during meal times they don't want you to do this - they prefer you to be served. It was only in the snack bar that we encountered this problem. The food was really good here and again good choices.
We sat in the outside section of the Restaurant in the evening and were looked after by a fantastic waiter, Atullah, who was much more attentive and looked after us very well during our 2 weeks there. Remember the outside cooking area as well as the inside. There's usually some delicious meats being barbecued and beautiful breads being baked.
There is plenty of choice for drinks (alcohol or otherwise) and the cocktails are AMAZING - the best I have ever had in any all inclusive hotel. The main bar (Sultan Bar) is open until 12am. The disco bar runs from 11.30pm until 2am and the bar inside (at reception) is the 24 hour bar. Cold soft drinks and water are also left in your room (mini bar) and are replenished every day.
The evening entertainment is excellent. The animation team work so hard to put on great shows. We saw various different shows including Mamma Mia, Cats, The Lion King and more and were never disappointed. A big shout out to SHORTY who was the most impressive member of the team and who was very friendly and welcoming to us Scots!
The hotel guests are a mix of various nationalities, particularly German, Dutch and Russian although all nationalities are catered for in every way.
There is a kids club and kids area for families with small children, which we heard was excellent and having looked at the schedule, there are lots of varied activities for the kids to take part in.
There are other activities and stuff available at an extra cost such as the games room, diving centre, spa centre, hairdresser, etc. You are given a card on arrival which you can use to charge all extras to and then pay when leaving. This is quite handy but make sure you keep track of any expenses and ask for receipts if using the card.
Beach towels are provided (using the cards given when you arrive at the hotel). It says in the hotel info that the towels cannot be changed more than once a day or you incur an extra cost. We only changed them each day but we saw people changing them 2 and 3 times a day and they did not seem to incur any charges. The towel stall closes during lunch time and we also noticed towels running out on several occassions.
The resort of Side itself is quite expensive. I was a bit disappointed in the shopping, having visited Turkey before and got lots of bargains. Having said that, we did not visit the markets, etc. so perhaps the shopping would be a bit cheaper had we done that. Side is a historical town and it is definitely amazing to see and well worth a visit or 2. You can walk straight along the beach to the harbour (apparently it takes around 45 mins but it was too hot to do this during our stay). We paid 8 euros (or 20 TL) in a taxi which took around 10 mins. There is also a bus which stops outside the hotel although we didn't use this.
Overall this hotel is one of the best I have visited. Certainly the facilities and entertainment are probably the best I have encountered during my times of travel. I would certainly recommend anyone to visit as there is plenty to be involved in (or not if you choose) for all ages! I hope to visit the Turquoise again soon.

Room Tip: The villa complex was amazing with private pool (shared between the villas). Large balconies and gor...
