“Amazing holiday!”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

The only thing that went wrong with this holiday is we had booked in the main apartments, but were taken to other ones across the road, because the other ones were over booked. We had afew problems with the room but were moved immediately. The staff were so friendly and at night time always made the place lively they also speak very good english! I read some of these reveiws, and to be honest this is a 3 star hotel & people expect to much, the shops were about a 10 minute walk, and the beach was 5 minutes on a free bus. The restaurant was lovely and even if you dont want anything on the menu they will cook what you want. Make sure you have a Turkish bath! Overall the holiday was great, We will definitely be going back!

Room Tip: Make sure you book in the main apartments, although the other apartments across the road are quieter...

After arriving at this hotel at 3.30 am on June 12th of this year, we were greeted by a man at the reception desk who asked the bell boy to take us to our room (which was on the ground floor). I wish he never had because what happened next was awful. We were shown how to use all the air conditioning controls in our apartment etc and then he left after about five minutes. But we had the feeling he didn't want to leave, so we checked that the door locked ok, which it did. Then we started getting our suitcase unpacked and I heard a noise, so my sister looked through the curtain discretely and the bell boy was standing there, bent over looking in on us. We freaked out and managed to get through to reception but they didn't understand what we were saying so we got our cases and hand luggage together and left immediately. When we arrived at reception we didn't get moved rooms for another hour after being told that no other rooms were available. I had to shout and argue to get my point accross, and even now Thomas Cook do not believe a word I am saying, they are siding with the hotelier. I read of another incident that had happened that was similar to mine, but apparently nothing has been reported and the bell boy has been questioned about our incident and has denied it (as if he would plead guilty).I wish I'd seen the review before I booked this hotel, but I only checked reviews from this year. If anyone has had the same incident (or a similar one) happen to them can they please message me. I would advise not to go to this hotel, as it took two and half days to get moved (when we were moved we had to lug our suitcases and hand luggage for a 15 minute walk down the road in a thunderstorm) and our holiday was ruined. We coulnd't sleep at night. Please don't go here, the thought of what could have happened to us if I hadn't heard that noise haunts me most days...

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the ground floor

Remember, this is a 3 star establishment but not only does it live up to this, in some ways it exceeds that rating. For example we dined both in and out of the hotel, including at the renowned Acrolpolis by the harbour, frankly the Chefs at the Lemas won hands down, especially with the Turkish menu, service and cheerful attitude (at the Acropolis the waiters were sullen). Breakfast is simple (self service buffet) and adequate.
The apartments are apartments with a bedroom equiped with aircon included in the price. They are large and have 2 large bed settees in the lounge area as well as single beds in the bedroom. The kitchen has a sink and cooking utensils, but no method to cook - you need to rent a kettle from reception, 9 TL or you can buy one downtown for 7!
Balconies overlook the pool which has 50 sunbeds, which was always immaculately clean, there is a second quieter pool across the road from the shop which is quieter still. Double glazing cuts any noise from the bar completely.
The maid service was friendly and adequate and the room kept clean. Receptionists friendly and helpful, especially Mr Fixit (Salim) and have good advice regarding local Taxis, Dolmus etc. There is a bus to take you to the beach, 9.30 am, 10, 11 and 12 noon, returning at 3,4,5 and 6. The beach is excellent and food at the bar also very good, try the Turkish breakfast.
We arrived at 3 am and there were 2 staff on hand to carry luggage and settle us in very efficiently.
You can walk into the tourist part of town but take a taxi to the old town, 15 TL and ask for Side Gate when they will drop you at the entrance to the old town, which frankly is a must to visit. Barter with the shopkeepers and it's suggested you ask Taxi drivers the fare before your journey and don't tip, they don't expect it. However, restaurant staff do.
The Waterfall at Magnavgat is worth the visit, take the Dolmus (just stand by the dual carriage way by the Prenses Hotel and they come along frequently,(just wave) then from Magnavgat take the Dolmus to the falls (stop is opposite the market hall and the Bus has Waterfall/ Wasserfall written on it) This will cost you a fraction of going with an organised visit and it really is easy.
My wife and myself had never been to Turkey, guess what, were are going back - give the Lemas a try, its pretty good!
John

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor, it was good and no stairs to negotiate!

This was a last minute booking to a place we had never been to before. On arrival,(5.30am ), our room was not made up for 3 people, only 2. There were a number of issues also with missing items in the room, but the list I gave to Mr Fix it at reception, was dealt with straight away, even at that time of time morning. You have to remember this is a basic 3* (Turkish grade) hotel, so don't expect 5* luxury, but saying that, it was more than adequate as a sleep base, to discover the surrounding areas.
Breakfast was adequate, which was buffet style, and eaten outside. There was a fairly good selection of foods to eat, but the only problem were the flies around the food at times. We were only on a bed and breakfast basis, which turned out to be the best option, as dinner, again, was a buffet, with little choice. We ate out at various places around the area each night, as well as the al a carte at the hotel, and we were never disappointed. One thing you have to remember when eating out, is that you always get a complimentary starter which usually consists of a flat/pita type bread, with dips and salad. This can be quite filling. You might also get, depending on restaurant, free drinks/ sweet at the end of your meal.Always check your bill, as mistakes will happen at your expense.
The hotel has two pools, a large one on the main site, and a smaller one across the road at their other block of apartments. This one tends to be quieter, and more chance of getting a bed, as the main pool is difficult to find a bed at the best of times.
Rooms are cleaned/checked every day, and bedding changed every 3 days. Maids are very pleasant, and at the end of your stay, if you would like to leave them a tip, then 5 lira is okay(we were told), but 10 lira would be greatly appreciated, as their wages are very poor.
The bar area is okay, with a chap running up your tab for you as you have your drinks. This works well, but do check your final bill list, as mistakes are made. You can obviously pay as you go.
The bar staff are fantastic, and always try and get people involved in the evening.( best time is between 10-11 which is half price cocktails). Prices vary, but expect to pay 5 lira for their own beer(efes-5%), 3 lira for a coke/sprite. Measures for spirits are generous, as they do not measure-just poor....
The free bus service from the hotel is good to get to the main beech in Side, which is too far to walk, especially in the heat.
Taxi fare vary, but expect to pay around 15 lira one way to Side old town.
There is a small shop on site, which seems to stock most things you will need, and all items are priced up(slightly more expensive than the supermarket in town-which is only 10 mins walk away). The owners are excellent, very friendly and helpful.
If you have a room overlooking the main pool, then you might be bothered by the noise at night from the bar, as it is situated opposite.
There is a chap who comes round to try and sell you spa treatments on site.My advice is to go into the town( 10 minutes away), and go to the trip shop across the road, which is a lot cheaper, and you get a good discount if you book 3 or more with them.Very helpful. We did rafting/jeep safari etc-Excellent!!(all full days).
Make sure you understand the currency, as they are in transition at the moment, as the are using the Turkish lira as well as the Euro, and prices can be confusing. They will try and con you with the conversion if you have brought lira-be warned!
Take your own beach towels, as they do not allow you to take their towels to the pool/beach.
All rooms have air con, which works well, and very welcome at night.
Be prepared to pay around 35 lira to have a safe key for your stay. This surprised me when I arrived, but was very useful.
Just remember-this is a basic 3* star hotel, which is great as a base to discover the surrounding area. Don't expect 5* star luxury, as you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: Make sure you get the room you booked for, as mistakes were made.Very Helpful though.

Had a very good deal on a two week break at the Lemas Suite Hotel,Side and to be honest was a bit dubious prior to arrival. Our apartment was basic but clean and tidy, the pool area was also very clean and tidy and the bar/restaurant staff were excellent. We have 3 children: 11,8 and 3 years old and all of them enjoyed the holiday. The hotel is 20 mins from the main beach and about half hour from Side town,we like a walk so it did not bother us. There are lots of bars and resturants in Side and the town was quite busy in the nights with a pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this hotel and part of Turkey and was impressed with the holiday!

Having the read the reviews of the Lemas Suite Apartments previous to going on holiday to Turkey I had fairly positive expectations of the hotel, which were only added to on arrival at the hotel.

The Lemas is set back from the main road which runs through the resort of Side from the Airport (approx 5 mins walk) and as such is a much quieter hotel than those on the main road. This is good if like me you like to relax without the noise and business of a larger seafront hotel. It is also approximately 30 minutes’ walk from the historic and tourist resort of Side itself, with the amphitheatre and maze of shops and bazaars.

The hotel is set into three different blocks of rooms, the middle one (which I stayed in) looks directly over the pool and into the open plan dining restaurant and bar. The rooms are average although large enough to accommodate up to 5 people (two beds and two sofas) and are equipped with a small kitchen area with a fridge and satellite TV (wide range of English speaking channels).Kettles can be hired from reception. The rooms are also very comfortable and are kept clean to an exceptional standard by the maids who come in daily to make the beds and replenish towels where needed.

The hotel and bar staffs (Mr Fix It, Sedat and the shop staff) are incredibly helpful and friendly and are keen to hear your stories and ask about where you have come from. There is also a small mini market adjacent to the reception area, run by a lovely husband and wife team (I would go back to see them), stocking a wide range of snacks, drinks and small souvenir gifts (some cheaper than in the town itself).

My dad did realise that unless you were part of the bar scene (i.e. drinking at the bar mostly everyday) then the restaurant staff although friendly did take as much interest in you (although the do serve you politely).

In regards to the food, we stayed half board, and as such were entitled to a typical European style breakfast- meats, cereals, cheeses, eggs, tea and coffee etc. The evening buffet consisted of a wide variety of salads, which although doesn't change much through the week is accompanied by a hot dish which rotates throughout the week, including fish, chicken and more. We did hear people complain about the range and quality of food, although if you are staying in a three star hotel don't expect five star foods, but also be aware that you are in Turkey and not the UK and there is a difference. What I would say though is the actual restaurant menu which you pay extra for is of exception quality and is worthy of five stars.

Drinks are reasonably priced. A large bottle of water costs around £1 or 2.50 Turkish Lira.

The hotel also offers a complimentary bus service to one of the beach areas in and around the town of Side itself (approximately 5 minutes’ walk away) and the Turkish night on a Thursday is also a highlight of staying at the hotel. There is also a hair salon and Turkish spa within the hotel, offering a range of beauty treatments and massages. The pool is incredibly spacious and was never overcrowded when I stayed. There is also a small kids pool, snooker table, table tennis and play park facilities. WIFI is also available and you can get the access code from reception. Be aware that in some areas of the hotel the connection may be slower than others, but it tends to be of a high speed in most areas.

I would recommend the Lemas Suite apartments if you are looking for a nice relaxing hotel away from the main heavily populated hotels (there are only 200 rooms after all), a place to unwind after a day exploring the country on one of the many trips available (recommended are white water rafting, a trip to Manvagat Waterfall and Anlanya).Even sitting around the pool for the day is truly relaxing and pleasurable. The staff members are friendly and very helpful and do their upmost to ensure you have a pleasant stay, which we certainly did. And I certainly will be going back.
