We stayed in the far side of the complex. By Dennis's bar. The apartment was clean an spacious. Dennis is a great host didn't bother you unless you wanted something. But beware Joseph what a pain in the butt. In your face all the time. We pretended we were asleep when he came around. But don't let that put you off its a lovely place to stay in side. Your on the outskirts of side. quiet at times not a lot of places to eat. We'd go back.

Melissa Gardens, we were so glad we chose here...The staff couldn't do enough for us.. Rooms are clean, but very basic, When we go self catering, it means we eat out all the time.
The Restaurant within the Apartments is very reasonably priced, if not cheaper than some of the other restaurants in the area. The Turkish Night is the best night of the themed nights they do! You didn't even have to fight for sunbeds or umberella's around the pool. The waterslide is great. We will definitely be booking here again. Great Central Location not far from beach and just a short bus journey Side Harbour Area....

Room Tip: Ground Floor Rooms in Shade part of day. All other rooms are in sun both Morning and Evening as they...

I've just come back from Turkey for 10 nights. The cocktails are amazing, in England you would not get as much alcohol in them and the barman is brilliant. Happy hour 9.30-10.30 absolute bargain! It works out like £2.50 a cocktail! Always keep tab on what you buy, we only had an issue once which was sorted out straight away. If you like a more relaxed holiday ask to be in the second block.
Do not listen to the reviews saying the turkish men are all pervy towards young children, that is not true in the lightest they have fun pushing people in the pool and dancing with every customer. In terms of sex they all understand what no means, many of the staff from previous comments are not there anymore and there are rules put in place.
The staff at Melissa Gardens are absolutely amazing, you really get to know them they are so funny and they make your holiday! One word, BANTER. The turkish people are amazing with children they absolutely adore them.
The beach was amazing, literally a 5 minute walk and infront of Fantasia the sun loungers are free for Melissa Gardens. Manavgat market boat trip and jeep safari are a definate, everyone that went on the dolphin trip did not see dolphins so we gave it a miss! Beware of extra costs for drinks etc. We had good food everywhere and portions are huge, we went to Beckhams, Golden Fizz, Umut, Lush, The Queens, Shanti and Cheers. Jimmy from Golden Fizz is absolutely lovely!
Everything is priced in Euros because it caters to many different countries but you get a better deal with Lira. Our rooms were amazing in room 50, great view, lively at night, didnt need air con even at 42 degrees. Turkish night is a must, absolutely amazing, buffet great food, belly dancing, turkish dancing, foam party and pool party all for like £10-12. Staff may hassle you a bit (they need to get their money some how by having such cheap apartments!) but they understand if you want to try other places just say you will be there later.
Silver is dead cheap out there, good to haggle down and stick to your guns! The men in the markets and shops are so nice and offer you free tea and coffee so well worth sitting with them and having a chat. The guy in the market shop next door will give you free things if you're nice and go there alot.
Missing all the staff and everyone we met already! You will find everyone likes to put eachother down to make more business for themselves, do not book trips with Thomas Cook!! Ridiculous prices, walk down the strip and look for a travel shop on the left hidden away ran by George who is a lovely man and you are insured on those trips!
Maids stole about £15 off me so lock up your money! Everyone we spoke to had had an amazing holiday from all nationalities, families, couples and age groups. Coming back next year, worth every penny! Next time I will be bringing a larger group of friends with me!

Room Tip: For a quiet relaxed holiday ask for the back block!

After dropping off everyone on the coach at 5* hotels I was a bit concerned when we stopped in front of some shops for our apts. Needn't have worried. Checked in and was shown to our apartment (35) by friendly staff. Went straight down to pool area and Joseph made us all a meal, even thought the kitchen was closed and it was 11.30pm.
Apartment - massive! Huge kitchen/living room area, massive bedroom and smaller bedroom. Two balconies. The downside was the lack of a wardrobe in the lounge area, which we used for 2 beds. No toaster (refused to pay extra to hire one). Aircon only in kitchen area but because we were shaded by trees it wasn't too bad, despite being in the 40 degrees outside. Overlooked hotel bar and Adam's bar next door so it was a noisy apartment at night. Take earplugs if you fancy an early night! The thing that really let us down was the poor maid service. Sheets/Towels changed only 3 times in 10 days and we were never left enough towels for 5 adults so had to go to reception for more. The balconies and bathroom were never cleaned during our stay. The outside aircon unit fed into an old water bottle, which we had to empty ourselves every day to stop the front balcony flooding.
The pool area is great with enough sunbeds (we used the main one with slide). Could stand up all around the pool and the slide was great fun. staff really friendly and great fun. Joseph, who runs the restaurant side of things is a bit pushy for you to book a table there for your evening meal, but a firm 'no' and he's ok. We had a few nights there and particularly enjoyed the Turkish night, which included a crazy foam party and everyone jumping into the pool at 1am!
There are plenty of shops and bars around the Melissa Gardens, but beware that everything is priced in euros so make sure you get the right exchange rate if you want to pay in lira and be prepared to haggle. Cheers bar does good food and Beckham's is great (although be careful ordering a bottle of wine as they give you the most expensive on the menu).
Side old town is a 2lira dolmus ride away or 20lira in a taxi. It is well worth a visit to see the ruins and explore the little streets crammed with shops and restaurants. You do get mithered a bit so just say NO if you're not interested.
We had a fun boat trip to Delfin Island that included a foam party on board. Dead cheap and great fun for the whole day. Haggle prices though as some people had paid twice as much as us to go.
The beach is a short walk from the hotel and Fantasia Bar have lovely sunbeds on a great section of the beach. Order a few drinks from them and you don't pay for sunbeds.
We found Side a little more expensive than other areas of Turkey we've visited. I think this may be due to the huge 5* hotels along the beach and the diversity of nationalities in the resort.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for Melissa Gardens 2, which is at the back.

We stayed at Melissa garden room 58 for a week in June 18th-26th , on arrival we were greeted by a friendly guy on reception who took us to our room.
We had a balcony and a view of the pool. The apartment was clean and spacious with extra pillows for the bed which was nice.
Fairly basic but what you expect for a self catering apartment.
The staff were really friendly and we spent most days round the pool. (There are 2 pools the apartments are spread over 2 blocks) one pool had a slide and the other just a pool with a bar.
The bar was run by Deniz who was fantastic, he was polite, very friendly, excellent English, funny and became our mate!
Johnny (waiter) was a laugh too and again professional and friendly.
We had a great time at the Melissa garden apartments and the staff made all the difference!
Joseph (head waiter I think) was a little pushy when asking guests to eat at the hotel but he means well.
The food was reasonable and good quality, the steak night was fab and they provided good entertainment... Fire show, dancing and of course the football on a HUGE screen.
Side town is worth a visit ( take the bus for 2 TL ) you can see the ruins and there are lots of shops and restaurants on the front.
Check out the beach and go to Linda's bar and restaurant, staff very friendly and really cheap good food. You can also use the beach section at the front of it and not pay for a bed if you have a drink there!
Overall we had a great holiday and Deniz really made our stay better than a normal holiday! He worked really hard and made sure that he chatted to everyone!
Thankyou Deniz your the best!!!!!!!
