This was not one of the worst hotels but THE WORST hotel we have stayed ever! Hotel's staff is not educated and not trained to provide a quality service and treat guests as they should. They sell travel arrangments as a 5* hotel and the hotel is actually categorized officially with 4*!!! The receptionist told me, the manager says we fulfill standards for 5* hotel and that is why we sell it like that but we actually have only 4*?!?!
The first disappointment was very first hour we have arrived in the hotel, we were told that we are allowed to change our towels for the pool and beach only 3 TIMES A WEEK?!?! Beds in our room were the ones that you can move around with one arm... They lack of employees, the guy who is cleaning the windows in the lobby in the morning is also in the restaurant cleaning the plates for the lunch as well as for dinner, in the mean time he is taking care of sun beds around the pool and at night after dinner he works as a bartender in the hotel's outdoor bar. What service can he offer if he works 15hours and more every day????!!!! Its terrible!!
The beach is 15min walk away... You do not cross the street but it takes a while to get there and you pass by the garbage left from the old barber shop, old souvenir shop... Even chairs and broken glass as well as other staff is left in the old shops...
They issue only one room key card. I had to wake up my wife and daughter every morning to go in the room after i come back from the breakfast..
THIS IS NOT A HOTEL YOU WANT TO GO IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!

Stayed at the maya world hotel for a week with my partner and we couldn't really fault it at all!!! Reading some reviews before we went, we were both apprehensive however, we had a lovely week!!
The food is a brilliant, literally you cannot fault it at all! So much selection and choice!! We had planned to go out to side for a meal but after eating at the hotel there wasn't any need as the food was so good!
The animation team were excellent, they all made us feel very welcome and always made the effort yet they wernt pushy!
The location is perfect, about a 5 minutes walk down to the beach, and a 10-15 mins bus trip down to side which was 5 Lera for us both!
All the staff were brilliant always saying hello and making us feel very welcome - especially the young lady in the spa (don't know names!) and the 2 bell boys!!!
Yes we were probably the only English couple at the hotel, but this didn't bother us! All the staff tried as much as possible to speak English, even those who struggled! And all the entertainment was spoken in English as well as other languages!
Wednesday gala evening is a must!!! A lot better than we both expected!!! Such a nice evening and a lot of effort put into it!!!
Overall a brilliant holiday, and we would both return!! Thank you maya world!

Not a 5 star but a good 4 star, friendly helpful staff, spotlessly clean and good food what more could you ask for. We returned on 9th July 2014 and had a lovely relaxing week. There are lots of nationalities staying in this hotel, the Russians don't tend to mix but I personally found them to be polite and the teenagers were very friendly and tried to integrate.
Klaudia on the Customer Services desk was very friendly and helpful, the hotel manager was very interested in customer feedback. The spa was excellent and competitively priced, I recommend you have a hammam on the first day to get rid of your old dry skin preparing yourself for a golden tan!
A lot of people were complaining whilst I was there I personally could not see what all the fuss was about, the amination team were excellent, rooms tastefully decorated, gala night on Wednesday not to be missed.

Room Tip: all rooms were good

Firstly, this is not a five star hotel, a point raised by others on Trip Advisor. Yes, it will pass as a four star, but if you are looking for five star luxury you are going to be feeling short changed.

The location is fairly remote. We were led to believe by our booking agent that it was IN Side. It is not. You will need a 10 euro taxi ride and fifteen minutes to get there.

As for the hotel, well the rooms are ok. Pool view rooms are nicer ( we booked two rooms and the one without the pool view was not as good ). The bathrooms are very small and there is only a shower, no bath.

The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and you get free bottled water which was a nice touch.

The food is really where you get to realize you are not in five star. It is tediously repetitive. The same food day in, day out. The worst aspect are the huge queues to get served in the buffet style restaurant. I have never queued so long for chips in my entire life !!. Unless you have a table by 7.30pm, half an hour after opening, you will have to wait until after 9pm to get seated.
It is chaos at peak periods.

There is a beach just five minutes stroll from the hotel which also has an all inclusive beach bar. The beach is nice but beware of very strong currents in the sea and big drops in depth within a matter of meters from the shore.

Another point of note is that there were hardly any British at this hotel which I found very strange. The staff do not speak much English and they assume that you are German.

On a positive note there are two nice swimming pools. You will need to put the obligatory towels on your beds by very latest 10am otherwise you will struggle to find any left.

The entertainment at the hotel is dire. On one night they had a " gala dinner " and the entertainment were some dancers followed by introductions to each of the management of the hotel to which we were all expected to cheer and clap as through they were celebrities....most bizzarre.

Side itself was very nice. Great for shopping and history lovers will be amazed at the ruins in the town which are breathtaking.

On the subject of currency everything is priced in euros. They will take Turkish Lira and even sterling, but be careful when paying in anything other than Euro as they are very clever at giving you a poor rate in this transition period.

On the whole I have to say that this hotel didn't cut it at all. We did meet other holidaymakers who were regular visitors to Side and assured us that there were much better hotels in the area that this one, and not to be put off Side because of Maya World.

This hotel is advertised as a 5* 'luxury hotel' and in that lies its biggest problem. If it were to advertise as a 4* hotel and bring its prices down accordingly guests would not be left feeling so disappointed with their stay at Maya World.
We arrived after midnight after a long journey with three children, we were quickly checked in and pointed in the direction of the restaurant for 'night soup', it was then my heart sank. The restaurant was poorly lit and depressing, the soup was luke warm and watery with no explanation as to what flavour it was. There was some stale bread, without butter to accompany it, just awful.
For me it was the whole dining experience in general that really let Maya World down, the queuing for the often bland food, the silly layout of the food, the rudeness of many of the guests, the endless cutlery hunt, the dirty tables, fighting for a drink at the bar.......I could go on. It got to the point where I dreaded mealtimes and just couldn't be bothered with the fight. The food itself was very much the same with slight changes now and then. As a non meat eater I struggled regularly and existed on mainly pizza and chips for the fortnight.
Week two was far better than week one of our holiday, the vending machine style plastic cups and polystyrene cups disappeared and were replaced with better ones. I do feel this hotel wants to do better and obviously respond to Trip Advisor comments but there are lots more to do to attract more English guests.
Don't expect this hotel to deliver as advertised.
Thankfully there are a few fantastic members of staff there who work really hard and without them our holiday would have been disastrous, huge thanks to the two girls at the pool bar Birchu Tapin and the other girl who's name I didn't get (sorry!) Serhan, Tolga and Claudia.

Hello
I have spent 2 weeks at Maya World and i can say that it was my best holiday in Turkey, rooms are very large and comfortable, the cleaners done their jobs perfactly, speacial thanks goes to them. Kitchen team works so hard and they create a awesome buffet every evening speacially gala nights. You need to test sushi and lamp, breakfast buffet so large and you have a lot of option to eat. Animation team are fabulous thanks to them to make us funny with their activities. Beach is so close to hotel and sandy. They also have open buffet on the beach. In conclusion, i would reccomend to this hotel to everyone. Special thanks to management. Just thanks!
