We have just returned from this hotel and would have to say we were very disappointed with it. We arrived after a long flight and 3.30hr flight delay so at 3am we were met with a very surly male receptionist who had very little english and we were taken to what resembled a 1970's Pontins chalet.Absolutely no character, souless place. We had a double bed and a single in the room and a bleak shower/toilet room. It was freezing as the window was wide open and we had only a thin sheet (no blankets in the room). Next day we managed to obtain a blanket. The towels were rationed to one each and poor quality. It was dark and gloomy and a bit damp feeling in the room and the walls were paper thin so you could hear EVERYTHING in the next chalet. Most days there was little or no hot water as they relied on solar power and some days were not sunny enough. Lots of steps and difficult paths to negotiate. The food was OK in the evening (we were half board), but breakfasts were totally angled to the german so little to choose from. Bread and eggs were about it. Some days there was tea bags, most days not. Very chaotic really Only plus was location which was excellent and views from restaurant terrace lovely (ruins and amphitheatre). Side itself is a large town with shops that are all the same and its just a big marketplace really. The ruins are fascinating and the museum well worth a visit. You get pestered everywhere to go in restaurants/shops etc. We did a local dolmus to Mangavat which has what is laughingly called a waterfall! Its a weir, and not even in a nice area. Local bus was cheap but Mangavat fairly horrible. We will not be returning. This should not be called a hotel. Its a cheap holiday park. You even have to pass through a shoe shop to get to the beach! Glad to be home...

Room Tip: They are all awful as far as we could tell!

We have just returned from the Leda Beach hotel. The only good thing about this hotel is the ruins that surround it. We stayed in a beach hut which was dark all day even when the sun was shining on it and it was very basic. The paths where a death trap dont go if you are in a wheelchair as they definately dont cater for disabled customers there are lots of steps also. The hotel was filled with 99.9% germans they completely took over everything and the waiters and staff couldnt do enough for them. My husband and I felt very isolated. The germans in the next hut even pinched our patio furniture and put it on their balcony when we went out. We have been to Turkey a few times but will not go back to Side. We will stick to the places that have time for English people and have nice hotel rooms instead of depressing dark huts..

Room Tip: Its either a dark beach hut or a dungeon not a great choice really.

Reviewing not only as a couple but this time with a perspective on people with reduced capibilties.
Having travelled many times 18+ to Side (My personal favourite) always on the outskirts of the main town, unfortunatly this time with a view of very close and easy access to the town centre due to my wife having a heart attack in May (Physio suggeested a goal).
Leda Beach Hotel took my fancy as very close and OK Reviews ... We both new where the hotel was but had not visited or stayed. As the entrance is from the main road 200m from the ampetheatre and also optional exit or by going through the hotel to the Beach another option. There was --- in my mind obvious less stress free routes to walk.
Route one by the top .... miander down to harbour along the beach and back to room ..... or for slightly fitter along beach and up hill.... I say up and down as if it was a race. NOT .....at everyones own easy pace (we were out average 8 hrs)
Right..... tried to describe for people with not as much Umph !! Leda Beach Hotel for us was fantastic .On arrival 04.00 expecting as other reviewers " The Dungeon" we were escorted to a Chalet/Bungalow next to the pool, took our keys down tooled and crashed....
We got up to the sound of pots and pans about 08.30,opened door saw we were 6' from swimming pool and 20' from the main dining / Restaraunt .... BRILLIANT !!!!!
From day one of our 15 nights we had a great crack with all the kitchen staff who chilled next to us chatting and happy.......Respect and manners go a long way we never had a morsle of food to complain about.
The room was OK no airs or graces..the cleaner kept it immaculate even as we still keep everything ok.

The staff upstairs Fantastic ..... Chef. .Ali..And all the Kurdish waiters were brill

Now .... the Beach Restaraunt Not trying to balance any thing yet again Brilliant....Polite .. Curtios any full of gossip ... its fun just to sit there watching time and people pass by especially if the Turkish lads has some gossip (Lol) they look at people obviously different than me or Corrie etc.
Overall a summary is ASK near the pool area or next level chalet down. Below that ok for some not for me as need room, but next to beach so take your pick.

If you are looking for central with beach and artifact options not tooo fancy but a great feel and laugh (Not Many English But Thats What We Get Away From ...Yes) This is a perfect buget retreat...... xxx

Just returned from a great 2 weeks at the Leda Beach Hotel, Side, Turkey.

Weather was great, average 30 degrees with a pleasant evening tempreture. Had no use for the jumpers I was advised to take. Side (Seeday) is a really nice clean safe quietish resort,

I booked the hotel direct as I was able to choose a bungalow against the pool. (previous reviews recomended this choice and were right to do so). Also I booked half board at an inclusive £20 per night each. What a bargin!

The rooms are spotless clean, not big but adequate, included in price was air con, fridge and a safe with a double shower. What more can you want. Bedding and towels changed every 2 days complete with flower arrangement.
Its location in Side is perfect, close to town, on the beach with the resturant oppersite the Roman ruins which added to the ambiance when having your meals.
The food was really good, again adequate typical breakfast including fruit, ceral, yogurts, jams, eggs, cheese, meats etc. Evening meal was Turkish buffet syle which changed ever night with 15 mezi dishes, salad and always a choice of 2 dishes with accompliments and fresh bread. What more can you expect for the extra £5 per night if you choose half board. We did not try the menu in either of the two resturants but what I saw the quality looked really good.

Other guest were 95 per cent German and Dutch who made us very welcome and chatted and joked with us.

This has been the first hotel where we received a warm welcome and actually shown around the hotel facilities before being taken to our accommodation.
The Beach is not the best but still very good with a sandy, clear, clean, safe warm sea to swim in. The sunbeds are free with a beach man who works really hard in sorting out your umberalla, beds, cleaning and waiting on. Always on hand when the sun is on the move. (he desrves a pay rise, a credit to the hotel)

The only small issue we had was (hotel take note) were the 2 restaurant waiters, although they could work hard, they did give the Germans preferential treatment and espeacilly if you were young and female you got their full attention. Tables were left uncleared while they flirted. On occasions there was no cups, cuttlery or hot water for the coffee machine with no real rush to sort the issue out. On two days I think they slept in leaving the excellent and really frielndly kitchen staff to run it and the guests to clear tables and find servettes, salt and pepper etc.
The resturant buffet opens around 7pm and if you are not in by 7.30 you can be eating the left overs. Thats if the two waiters are not sat in the resturant eating whats left of the guests food and watching the TV. Once its gone its gone.
Dispite the very small gripes, this is a great little family run hotel vey much to our liking possible best suited to couples, singles etc. The two storey apartments would not be a choice of mine as their possitioning is quite dark under the trees and close together. Best bungalows are 403 to 408 against the pool.

N.b. I booked a private airport transfer with Holiday extras at £50 return as against £100 with other dealers.

I would have no hestitaion in returning.

Room Tip: Bungalow rooms against the pool, 403 to 408 would be my choice. Warning. Do not be put off by the...

When my husband and i arrived we were shown to a standard room which was the only room available when we booked. I expected more for a 2 star hotel, the room wasnt big enough to swing a cat our cases filled up much of the remaining space. There was only a very tiny wardrobe with 4 coat hangers for both of us and no cupboards, the toilet was broke and was difficult to flush and it smelt. Dont forget your toiletries as there was nothing, not a small complimentary bar of soap or a basic sachet of showergel. The air conditioning was so loud you couldnt sleep with it on so had to roast all night. The rooms overlook each other there is no view the bottom rooms are dark and like dungeons. The rooms called bungalows around the pool look more like beach huts and are overgrown with too much folidge. We paid an extra 10 euros a day to upgrade to a better room which was a big improvement on the first room.
The breakfast was basic and seemed to cater more to the germans. The only thing i could eat was the fried eggs which i had everyday and the bread and jam. There is a private beach for the use of hotel guests which was good as the man got you sunbeds everyday even when it was full he managed to sort you out with a couple of beds.
The last time we visited Turkey was 10 years ago and it was a lot cheaper then, we couldnt beleive how expensive it had become our budget was £100 a day which was spent on lunch and dinner, we were only eating in average restaurants but were paying the same as we would in this country. I had a margarita at a beachside bar and was horrified when we were charged 7 euros for a cocktail it was nothing special just basic. The only restaurant which was good value was The Kosem restaurant where we got free coffee and fresh fruit salad at the end of our meal.
Side is very interesting with the history and ruins it has, but is spoilt by the commercialism of hard sell shop keepers who can be very rude if you dont buy anything. Take plenty of money with you if you visit this resort you will need it.
