“Leda Beach dump”
Reviewed 25 September 2010

We arrived at the Leda Beach at 1 am, to be greeted by a very rude manager who tried to send us to another hotel for 4 nights as he said it was fully booked because Ramadam had finished!! We had booked in April. So we stayed at reception and wouldn't go (had read on trip advisor that this is a regular thing there) He then said his bosses friend had vacated a room for us, so we went to look and it was the famous room 101 which has also been talked about on this site. It was awful, just like a shed, so we went and sat at reception all night! The next morning he gave us another room that was a little bigger than the shed. We stayed 1 night in there as we were tired out. Luckily we saw the holiday rep the next day and we told him we wanted another room and we did get a bigger one with a balcony. But it wasn't wonderful. The breakfast was awful and they were running out of coffee, milk e.t.c so we stopped going. Also cats and ants were on the dining tables!!! Our bedding was damp and torn and the towels were so wet we had to put them on the balcony to dry out! They just didn't have enough towels & bedding. We went for our Ruby anniversary and I had ordered a cake & wine for our room but it never arrived. When I told the manager he just shrugged his shoulders, I could have cried as he ruined my surprize for my husband.
It say's on the Leda Beach hotel Facilities that every room is spacious, fully furnished & has great sea views. There were just 2 with sea views at the front, and as for furniture we had no chairs or sofa bed like they say they have. Yes it was in a handy place for going into Side but that's about all you can say is good about it.

We have been to Turkey half a dozen times and stayed in a variety of places, but never one to match the Leda Beach Resort!! We arrived at 4.00 am and dumped by the transfer outside a ramshackle dark enterance. Finding our own way to the reception , we then waited for over 30 mins for some one to eventually come and open the office to book us in. Ok that was sorted, now you just want to be shown your room and get some sleep. We were then taken on a tour up and down stone steps in the dark, till we eventually came to what can only be described as an old shed in the midst of a jungle some where round the back. There was no natural light, ants crawling everywhere, broken light fitting and a bathroom that was filthy and full of cracked tiles, no hot water to basin just a single cold tap. The bathroom flooded completely when we tried to shower and then carried on to seep into the living space !! We complaind and were told that there was no other room until 3 days later! We just wanted to go home! We eventually got a nother room, which was clean and bright although basic. We are breakfast once but after having to scoop flies out of fried eggs we decided not to bother. We ate out most of the time and there are a number of restuants to choose from, because despite the Leda Beach being a bad experience for us, the location was great. The only other thing I would say is, if you have a disability this hotel is not for you , there can be up to 6 lots of stone stairs to get to the pool or breakfast. Booker beware !

I had read the feedback on this hotel just after I had booked through Olympic Travel & I must admit, I was a little concerned, however, upon our return today I though I would tell you of our experience. When we arrived at around 9.30ish in the evening the Resuarant was kept open later than usual, but not sure if this was true as we ate there later in the week at around 10ish. We were B&B & paid for our evening meal which arrived quickly & was nice. The following day we woke for breakfast to find it was SALAD! lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber & the usual cheeses & meat, not selection though, just seemed to be processed meat, boiled & fried eggs which one would expect in another country (although you would have to arrive early to get them)- some people wanted sausage, egg, bacon etc & I although this did not bother me (eat as the locals do - BUT DON'T THEY EVER EAT CEREAL??? - WHICH WAS NOT AVAILABLE). I do feel that it would have been nice to have had a variety of breakfasts. This really let it down but did get better when I found they had plain yoghurt & fruit. However, the following day the parties we arrived with told us they had been charged for their evening meals, although they were half board. The Olympic Rep' did sort this out the following day & they were re-embursed. The Hotel itself I cannot faulter as much as some reviews. It was clean & yes, the rooms are small & quite dark but, when on holiday, I consider it to be a base & a place to sleep when you have wondered round or sunbathed etc all day. There are two Restaurants, one overlooks the Ancient Ruins & the other the Beach. The Waiters in both were polite, charming & attentive - they are a credit to the Hotel,as are the Chefs. When we told staff that the Pool area was slippy, they cleaned it straight away. The Pool was clean & Filters were cleaned whilst we were there. Would we stay there again? YES!- WE LOVED THE LOCATION, THE HOTEL & OUR LOVELY CLEAN LITTLE ROOM. Its not 5 Star ( & we have had 5 star in the past & they're not always worth it!!!). I can honestly say both myself & my husband found it to be a relaxing, stress free holiday. Not loud (although this my be different in high season). We will venture back, possibly next year.

We stayed at this hotel with our 2 children aged 9 and 5 in May this year and had the most fantastic time. Yes the rooms here are quite small and basic but the hotel itself more than makes up for this especially if you are looking to escape all the high rise monstrosities that people seem to think are so fantastic these days. The location of the hotel cannot be beaten. You are within walking distance to everything from here unlike alot of other tourists staying in Side who had to catch taxis and buses into Side town. Excellent if you like to wander out of an evening to some local bars or restaurants. Also very close to the beach (Just outside the rear entrance of the hotel) The staff at this hotel really went out of their way to keep their guests happy. They were brilliant with my girls and never made them feel a nuisance despite there not being many other children staying here. We stayed half board and none of us got a dodgy tummy throughout our stay (despite me stocking up on various tablets and medicines). The food was typically turkish which was exactly what we wanted. We dont book a holiday in turkey to eat fish and chips! The breakfast wasnt too varied. It mainly consisted of cereals, bagels, eggs, cold meats, olives and cheeses. However evening meal was always varied and we could always find something we liked. Yes there were occasional flies, it was hot! but food was constantly being changed and the chef did an excellent job.
Look I wont lie, if you are looking for 4-5* then this is not the hotel for you. Look elsewhere and pay the price. But If you are looking to be in the best location with somewhere beautiful, clean and friendly then this place cant be beaten amongst the beautiful ruins of Side. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in my time but if I was returning to Side I wouldnt stay anywhere other than Leda beach. Many thanks to the team for a great holiday.

Recently went to stay at this terrible hotel. My partner has come back with bed bug bites. The whole experience was dreadful. We travel a lot but this is really the worse hotel we have ever stayed at in the world. Our horrible experience started when we arrived after a long trip at 10 o clock at night. The manager took us to room 102 which we had heard was a dreadful room. It was the smallest room I have ever stayed at. It was like a box with a very small window. After tears we decided to go back to reception and tell them we had to have another room or we would sleep at reception or their restaurant. The manager finally took us to another hotel next to the hotel and showed us a big smelly dirty room that we could stay in. We refused and demanded a decent room. He then drove us to another hotel. The room was clean but probably one star hotel. We got to bed at 2 oclock. The following day we were given an ok room. However breakfast is dreadful full of flies we are complaining to british airways whom we book with. The breakfast every day was boiled egg or fly filled left out fried egg and salad all left out for flies and bread brown or white. That was it. No other hot food no cereal no pastries no fruit. We went to Burger King instead the rest of the holiday. Evening meal was also left out and flies where everywhere. We ate a couple of times and went to dinner at 7 when it started to try to avoid flies. The starters was to awful to eat as full of flies and pudding was dreadful as again left out for hours for flies. How this hotel ever got on the British Airways site is unbelievable. The quality of their hotels are usually great. Please dont go to this hotel unless you have the cash to eat out as otherwise it is an expensive option. In all a very bad experience.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were taken to the hotel reception by the rep. We were led down a very rough track and past the most awful looking toilet 'shack'; I must confess that at this point we were more than a little concerned.

However, the hotel turned out to be better than we expected. The room, although a little on the small side, was clean with enough storage space. The bathroom and toilet were also clean and well presented. Sheets were changed every other day and towels whenever they were left on the floor. Air con was provided at no extra charge and a safety deposit box was available in reception for 10TL. The air con proved to be a little noisy during the night but nevertheless, essential! The room walls were thin and noise transmitted very readily from adjacent rooms.

The pool, nestled in amongst the orange and lemon trees, and its surrounding areas were also clean with sunbeds always available.

There are two restaurants available and we were staying on half board basis. The breakfast was typical bread, cheese, ham, eggs etc and didn't change all week. Evening meal was interesting and would not suit the burger and chips brigade! The food was, overall, okay with some meals being very nice. Always a good range of cold dishes such as pasta salad, cous cous, rice etc. The lower resaurant, right next to the beach with lovely views across the bay, served an excellent al acarte menu. The staff here were much nicer too and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

On the down side, the hotel does not allow ANY food or beverages to be taken into the rooms and water is only allowed when bought from their own supermarket - not surprisingly this is a little more expensive than most other shops. Staff will stop you entering the hotel with even water if they think it was bought elsewhere. Rooms have no kettle or facilities for hot drinks whatsoever - no cups or glasses other than two paper cups. The rooms are provided with a refrigerated minibar and the prices are not to unreasonable.

The hotel beach was lovely and free sunbeds were always available and provided by the most helpful attendent ever. He would keep popping back to adjust the positioning of parasol etc to keep you out of the direct sun.

As usual, trips provided by the tour reps are overpriced and can be done much more cheaply either in town at the many tour shops or by using the Dolmus buses. These are frequent and cheap , (most fares around 3TL). The destination of the bus is shown clearly on the front and fares are shown on a poster inside near the driver.

The hotels' Turkish Night is advertised as free but men are expected to tuck money into the belly dancers clothes as she dances around. she will stay with each man, intimidating him, until he coughs up the dosh. She must make a fortune for dancing for around 10 mins. The waiters dance is, on the other hand, very entertaining and well worth seeing.

We stayed at this hotel 8 days in august 2010 with an infant. We were looking for some accomodation near the beach and the hotel`s location was brilliant: just 100 m from the sea and in the center of the town, so that you can explore its sightseeing by just walking around the hotel.
It has to be said that the staff was quite friendly (though when I asked to issue me a bill it took them 1 hour to make it correct).

The bad thing is that the "bungalows" as they call them are extremely tiny and are all covered with strips of wood inside so that you feel yourself in a rustic russian sauna in a bad sence.. No balcony, very small windows that don`t let the sunshine in to the room, gloomy lamps which barely iluminate that little space, all that make us feel prisoners when we were in the room.
The pool seemed dirty and for the first week I never saw a tecnician who cleaned it.. we were very dissapointed that couldnt use it, especially our 2 yrs. old daughter..
he appeared later though but we didnt care anymore.

We stayed at the room # 306 which had a adjacent side with another one, occupied by a male who used to come back with his friends late at night and we could hear every word, every sip, snore est. they produce, and that was intolerable!
In addition it was a Ramadan period in Turkey and all the locals used to eat, watch TV, listen to the music and entertain themselves in other ways at nights, without bothering that may be someone by their side is sleeping.

Thus, this place is suitable only as a short stay. If longer, you`d better find smth else more worthy..
