you need to pay a small entrance fee but it is well worth it.. the Amphitheater itself is quite well preserved .. there is a better preserved example at Perga.. which is 40 Km up the road towards Antalya.. another roman/Greek site that is well worth a visit

Thank Gary M

It now costs 20TL each to enter. Although the ampitheatre itself is amazing you can see just as much from outside! No access underneath or anywhere else. Needs more boards/signs explaining the history, and the different sections. Overall not worth the money!!

Stayed in Side where buses are easy and low cost for travel to the amphitheater. Even more enjoyable to other stops, compared to "organised" trips after knowing actual costs, some times these are in overcharged range with "marketing visit to local tide shop and additional time wasting thrown in for free". Walk from bus stops to sites are easy with more of the archeology to see on the way, short distance but may not suite all wheelchairs or people with some walking difficulties. On the way there is museum of local archeology, old city gate area (watch out for traffic) etc some shops etc. Impressive site with good light from arches and on steps of the theatre seating areas a good spot for photography. Seating areas in good condition, opposite and sides needs more attention to preserve before it falls.

You can see the whole thing with out paying to go inside. I got some amazing photos. You can walk the whole way round it also.

A must see on your 'to do' list when you go to Side. You can see it from the outside but it's extra special to enter the theatre and an excellent photo opportunity. If you go inside to the left, you get a view of more ruins and the beach which is an excellent shot.

Well worth 15TL which is less than £5.
