“We enjoyed Kusadasi and the Grand Onder”
Reviewed 14 June 2010

We came to the Grand Onder in Kusadasi after leaving the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, and found it to be a lovely city and a nice hotel. The room was large enough, and had a little deck where we could sit and look out on the sea and relax. We've seen Kusadasi criticized for being too touristy, but honestly, we found that everyone we met was friendly and helpful, and would definitely recommend it.

The Grand Onder is a nice hotel, and frankly, we enjoyed the walk uphill to get to it...always glad to have exercise. The room was comfortable, and with the sliding door open in the evenings and night, we found the temperature to be cool and the air fresh.

We had booked our reservation as "half board," and enjoyed both breakfasts and dinners in the hotel restaurant. The buffet offered a large choice for all meals, and the staff was efficient in bringing drinks and helping with any needs.

Reception was helpful in their suggestions, making this part of our trip pleasant and easy to adjust to. We recommend the Grand Onder!

I stayed in a double room with twin beds for 2 nights. I felt the single bed was too small. Rooms were clean with a balcony overlooking the pool and harbour. Wifi was free but extremely unstable, requiring constant re-login. The water from the taps are probably desalinated because there is an odd taste to it.

Buffet spread had good variety and fruit selection. Reception staff was not extremely friendly or helpful but the restaurant staff were vey hospitable. Checking in and out was quick and fuss-free.

Use of the sauna requires a fee of 20 liras and advanced booking; the gym is almost non-existent with some weights and no treadmill. Use of game facilities are also chargeable. The pool is decent size but can get too crowded if more than 5 people are swimming at the same time.

Rooms are nice, nice view, average food, well located, but the stuff is terrible. We had 2 families of indian people sorrounding us. They would keep their doors open and shout at each other from one room to the other from early in the morning til late at night. They were like 20 ppl sleeping in those two rooms. We complained at reception and they didnt care or react at all. And no chance to face them ourselves. Lucky us it was 2 days only. Every time we asked something at reception there would be 2-3 guys seating and not doing anything, chatting and ignoring you. Laundry service is extremely expensive as anything not included in your package.

After being there Christmas 2006 we went back december in 2007 and the head waiter and other staff really remembered us.
They were proud that we came back because of the great hospitality and friendlyness of all the staff.

The hotel is not to big, has a very good kitchen and nice clean rooms.

Location is perfect. Just out the noisy centre and from almost all trhe balconies a beautiful sunset.

Probably the best hotel I stayed at whist touring Turkey. Rooms were fine despite yellow/green colour scheme. Good breakfast and even meal choice despite having no fresh tea available. Great view, but up a steep slope. It's a 20 minute walk into the centre.

I stayed in this hotel on a two week long trek through Turkey with COSMOS Tours. It is a hotel on top of a slope so may not be convenient for some, definitely not for wheel-chairs. However, it has excellent view of the sea at Kusadasi and you can watch the cruise ships come in as you have a drink in the lounge. It is walking distance into town and there are many restaurant near the hotel even if you don't want to eat here.

The hotel is basically one high rise blocks on two levels of terrace on the hill side. The lounge area is big and is connected to a restaurant with a lovely terrace for afresco dinning. They close the swimming pool at 6pm so that diners will not get the noise and splashes when eating next to the pool. The view is fantastic and very relaxing but there are just too many concrete blocks around so temperature can soar during the summer. The restaurant serves reasonable food but we only had drinks and also breakfast there. There is a restaurant overlooking the marina/sailing club which serves better food and has more trees around.

The room we had were reasonably furnished with usual facilities. Rooms are clean and services are reasonable including wireless internet in the lounge area
