“Great location but lousy service!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2009

My wfe and I stayed 3 nights last month (14th/17th) in this hotel which we selected for its location.
We felt everytime we intereacted with the staff (perhaps with the exception of the bar staff) that we were bothering them.
Upon check in, we were assigned a twin bedded room when we had reserved a room with a large bed. We mentionned it to the bell boy who carried our luggage and he started to put the bed together. There was dust under that had not been cleaned for quite some time. great impression on arrival!
The view from the bar is fantastic and so is the sunset from the hotel. The hotel has a certain english character in design but sadly the service is inexistant and bordering rudeness especially for breakfast! We were amused by a sign which was placed in the breakfast room next to a tip box.
Also the orange juice tasted everything but orange. Actually this was true almost in all the hotels we stayed in during 19 days. Quite appalling when you think that Turkey has some of the best oranges!
In spite of the terrible service, one evening, we attempted to have dinner at the restaurant and we were told we had to wear proper attire!! We were having drinks at the adjacent bar for the past 3 nights in the same attire!!We ended up having dinner in the nearby free standing restaurants. One last thing the pool is very nice but a 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The service there is also inexistant. During the 3 days we were there, there was no attempt whatsoever by the barman to sell us any drink!!

The garden and setting high on the hill overlooking the sea were wonderful. The room was spacious and clean. The pool area is lovely and new, although a bit of a walk from the main hotel. There is also an area of private beach and a tennis court overlooking the sea. I would describe the hotel as a little dated and stuffy but the setting and location could not be faulted.

This hotel has been in its peninsular location since the late 60s, built where the owner's summer house was formerly located. The public areas have been well maintained, but the bedrooms and bathrooms need updating. It is surrounded on three sides by water and the views onto the water, looking throught the beautiful gardens, are exceptional. We were given a large room, with a sitting area and two balconies, looking over the lovely picturesque harbour. The atmoshpere is nostalgic, with many old items in the public areas, possibly from the family's original home, alongside family photographs and those of various celebrity guests. We felt that the reputation of the hotel, based upon celebrity guests and its location, meant that not all that much of an effort was felt to be needed by today's staff. They have a beautiful tennis court, but couldn't supply racquets or balls for guests. The bathrooms need a makeover. Lots of the bedroom furniture dates from the 60s and needs renewing. This lovely hotel deserves more of an effort.

My husband, myself, daughter and grandaughter have just returned from a holiday in Turkey, spending our last 6days at the Kismet hotel. After checking their websight it impressed us,as we were looking for a family hotel,in view of the age range, with pool etc.including 5star amenities as that is what we're used to.What we got were tired looking interiers with probobly the original 60's fittings and decor. The bathrooms were the worst with grotty taps and baths with the shower coming of the wall. The toilet stopped flushing only to find it operated with a piece of string,to which they replaced[the string].The pool was closed when we arrived, our grandaughter was devastated. We were given 2different reasons for this, and reading another review they had yet another one.It cost us a day trip to a water park ,pity we did'nt charge it up to the hotel. After 3days it opened, but the pool bar was still stocking up as we left. The position of the pool we found was too far from the main building.Food also disappointing, not enough choice for a 5star hotel.Staff did'nt fill up empty dishes at breakfast until asked by guests Lastly staff unfriendly.no smiles on your return.Domestic staff ignorded you, only the waiters at dinner gave you a smile. This hotel is no good for less mobile, huge slopes and dozens of steps.Apart from these issues a lovely setting, and an amusing parrot in recption

Had corner suite with 2 baths and balconies overlooking harbor and ocean for 129 Euro including buffet breakfast overlooking ocean. Older hotel which has been thoroughly renovated but retains the charm and amenities of an older full service hotel. Beautiful terraces on which drinks and dinner are served ... both of which are a little pricey but excellent value given the wonderful ambiance. Excellent and friendly service from staff. Rare charm and throwback to an earlier era but modern enough to satisfy. Small private beach and large pool are a bit away from main building. Hotel is located on peninsula away from town center which is a plus when cruise ships are in port.

Was very excited to stay here based on the reviews -- could not have been more disappointed. Where to begin? First, a constant stream of unsolicited emails from the hotel offering (overpriced) airport transfers, which continued despite saying no thanks on 3 separated occasions. Most annoying -- the pool was not open. The reason given -- "too cold." The weather was in the mid-20's the week of and 2 weeks prior to our stay. Additionally, every other adjoining hotel had their pools open. Find it incredibly sneaky and underhanded to advertise a pool on a website, figure it prominently on promotional material and not have it available or notify booking guests that it won't be open. Very dishonest.

The bathroom was never cleaned -- dirty towels left on the floor. Toiletries were never replaced. The a/c unit clanged all night -- management was either unwilling or unable to fix it.

Worse still -- the staff are rude, arrogant, disinterested and smug. My fiancee and I have traveled extensively and never encountered such horrible and offensive service.

Save yourself the disappointment and hassle -- there are many other great options nearby. Avoid this place like the plague.

I loved staying at this hotel perched on a penninsula in the Aegean Sea. There are many places to sit outside and every room looks like it has a balcony with a view. They have what they call a beach, but more like an area to sit and enjoy being close to the water. It is about a 20 minute walk to the centre of town. It is a very touristy town, but fun to walk around in. Most people are there to explore Ephesus and surrounding areas. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Wireless didn't work in the rooms, but did in the reception area. There was a golf cart that will take you up and down the hill to the road. Anyone with a problem with steps wouldn't like it here. The hotel might be a tad worn, but I could have stayed there a long, long time.
