This was our fourth time returning to Turkey but first time visiting Kusadasi. After a delayed flight and 3.5 hour transfer we were pleased to arrive at Tusan for the start of our 10 day holiday, the staff at reception were most efficient in checking us in and very friendly and more than helpful with our questions. After being directed to our room by the porter we had a chance to explore.
The rooms are very very nice, spacious, tidy and clean. There is the standard supply of shampoo and body lotions that you would expect at this type of hotel. If travelling all inclusive you also get to consume the drinks in the mini bar, although subsequent refills are extra. There is also a room safe (safe lock/key can be rented from reception).
The resort as a whole is also very nice, clean & tidy. The facilities are very good with a variety of bars to choose from and three swimming pools, although the main pool was like an ice bath and became a bit of a running joke between guests. As we were travelling off season only the main and 'specialist' restaurants were open, although again these were clean and tidy.
Unfortunately travelling off season meant that the animation program wasn't in full swing, and rather than the usual 12+ members of the team you would usually be met with there were around 4 or 5. This being said the pool side team running the day time activities were absolutely top quality and were more than happy to help.
We would like to specifically thank Axie on the animation team for his efforts running activities not on the program and making the extra time to get to know us throughout our holiday.
Again being off season there was no 'show time' in the evening and no disco, instead we had a pianist and violinist playing at the lobby bar, this isn't our type of music and was OK for the first couple of days. Unfortunately after 10 days of the same music this got a tad tedious. Again the animation team that were there did try and help out and ran out of the hotel excursions to various bars/night clubs and put on a few night time activities such as bingo etc.
Breakfast - Good variety of fresh fruit, cereal & yoghurt. There was a small selection of hot food but not as much as we are used to from other inclusive holidays. Although what was there was very nice, we tended to have omelette and pancakes most days.
Lunch - The buffet at the main restaurant was not good, we walked in one day and just walked back out. The snack bar by the pool was our choice for lunch, offering a variety of burgers, chips, pizza, pasta and toasties (grilled sandwiches) - we were more than happy with this.
Dinner - This is the only reason we have not given this hotel a 5 star rating. We have travelled all inclusive for over 10 years and you get used to the buffet style dinners that are usually on offer in the main restaurants, unfortunately though the hot food offering at Tusan is very limited and what was on offer was usually cold or warm at best. The evening service was poor, of the 8 nights we ate in the restaurant we were only offered drinks on three of the nights, one of these was when we were just about to leave. The majority of the tables are also set up for more than 8 guests so if sharing a table with strangers isn't your idea of fun then you may not like the seating arrangements.
The poolside bar only serves soft drinks and beer, although we were happy with this, you can travel into the lobby bar and get other drinks 'to take away' and get the regular spirits/cocktails/etc. The bar staff are all very helpful and friendly, in fact this rings true across all of the staff in the hotel and we were happy at the service we received (Excluding the waiter service at evening meals).
Tusan sits on it's own beach front which is beautifully maintained, it's not 100% sand and can be gravelly in places but don't let this put you off. The other side of the hotel is a lake which joins onto the coast giving nice views from all sides of the hotel.
Kusadasi was just a short trip on the dolmus and we popped down there to visit the market and have a look around, the town itself was lovely and the locals very nice.
Overall we were more than happy with our holiday and enjoyed our time at Tusan. Service, Rooms, Location, Daytime food, Bars, Daytime Entertainment and the resort as a whole were to very very high standards and it was only let down by the evening food. As a suggestion I would recommend visiting in the main season only as the evenings were a tad quiet off peak (unless this is what you like).
