I stayed at The Palmin Sunset Plaza in May with my sister. It was our second visit to the hotel; we were also there last August. This is a very good hotel and what you see in the brochure is what you get, there are no (nasty) hidden surprises!

As May is not exactly peek season I was worried that things would not be in full swing, but everything was just as good as last time and the hotel was almost, if not completely full to capacity. Upon arrival the ‘welcoming committee’ greeted us which are the entertainment staff from the hotel dressed up! Complimentary non-alcoholic cocktails are provided. Check- in is very quick, you are given cards to fill in on the bus on the way to the hotel and assigned your room which speeds up the process. The bell boys deliver your luggage to your room swiftly and are well deserving of a tip for all the heavy lifting they do especially in the heat of high season as us Irish seem to over pack!!

The rooms are spacious with two single beds. There is also a pull-out couch, a dressing table, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning. The bathroom is clean but small enough but is fine for the week or two you are there. There is also a balcony from each room.

The food at the hotel is very good. The pool bar offer many different options for a snack or lunch at a reasonable price. Breakfast could be developed a bit more. Last time the only fruit available was water melon but this year there was also apples and oranges. There’s a selection of cereals, cheeses etc. or an omelette can be made for you there and then in front of you.

We also used the Spa services this time around. The spa is lovely and clean and there are many different treatment options and packages to choose from. There is also a hair salon in the hotel grounds.

The hotel in general is very clean hotel, from the rooms to the pool to the restaurant. The room is cleaned and towels replaced daily and the bed linen is changed around twice a week. I often saw the pool being cleaned late at night and the pool area in general is very clean, as all areas of the hotel are.

The hotel has a large pool and a baby pool and plenty of sun loungers! I would recommend paying the extra for a pool view if possible. (If not you may be left looking out onto a back road). The hotel also has gorgeous views looking out on the Aegean Sea and the Greek island of Samos can also be seen.

The hotel also has a photographer that may ask to take your pics or I’m sure you can ask him to do so. Some of the poses you are asked to do are a little cheesy but others are nice and there is no obligation to buy them but they are nice to look at the following day either way.

The entertainment staff in the hotel are very good. In the day they hold many games for both kids and adults including darts, yoga, water polo and water aerobics. In the night they also provide more family entertainment. The hotel also holds a Turkish Barbeque Night which we went to when we were there last August, the food is fab and there are many different types of dancers that provide entertainment after the BBQ!

The staff at the hotel are all very good, and usually will get you anything you ask for. The waiters and barman are a good laugh and will certainly put a smile on your face! The pool boys and bell boys are very hard working and attentive.

The shop in the hotel is small but provides all the essentials, while it is cheaper than home, it is said that buy local standards it is more expensive. However the hotel does not permit you to bring in food or drink from outside the hotel.

There are no lifts in the hotel but its only 3 stories high and built as apartment style blocks. Also the road to the hotel is a little rough to say the least, as are most roads around but don’t be put off by this as the hotel is really lovely and really safe with a security check point outside it.

The hotel as a loyalty card system for repeat visitors, which was the only thing we had an issue with the hotel but it got sorted in the end.

I would definitely recommend the hotel and will certainly be back in the future!

Have just returned from holidays and really enjoyed the Sunset Plaza. The waiters were really friendly and helpful. Asked at reception for extra pillows and were provided within the hour. I left my camera on the Dolmus and the Manager phoned round till he located the bus depot where the camera had been left.

We found the drinks expensive. The food in the hotel was good but again, expensive. The BBQ I found excellent value at €15 (30TL) which included all you could want or eat of starters, main meal and desserts.

The hotel room was spacious and cleaned every day. The bed was huge and really comfortable. Our balcony was to the back of the complex with a view of the sea one side and houses on the hill on the other side. The sunsets as stated previously were amazing.

The only gripe really was the ban on bringing in drinks from outside. I witnessed one guest having their drinks confiscated - 'in accordance with international hotel rules'. People did get to smuggle in drinks and I fail to see how drink would attract ants and yet there was no problem bringing in fruit etc which was not sold in the shop on site which was a total rip off big time.

The staff worked round the clock 16 hours a day and would always have a smile and a chat. The lady on entertainment was very irritating though with her loud voice when all you wanted to do was bake in the sun quietly.

Tip boxes were everywhere but the staff depend a great deal on these tips to supplement their very low income.

stayed here for two weeks with my boyfriend
yes check in is very quick (even though we had to wait longer as they had taken my boyfriends bag off at wrong hotel so we had to wait while that was found but then was brought up to us).

we only ever got up for the free breakfast twice and that was when we were going for trips other than that we went to Ladies beach to Deniz restaurant were they have lyons tea and dairygold butter and is half the price of cooked breakie in hotel

it is true the staff try hard to keep you in the hotel we were stopped every evening going out but we never stuck around its a 15 min steep walk to ladies beach or get the dolmus much nicer food there.
one thing i really hated about this hotel was they want it to be treated like a hotel (i.e dont bring in food to make in room or eat in room but they expect you to pay for milk, tea or coffee for your room now this shouldn't be the case even the preimer inn gives new tea nd coffee sachets everyday.
i also agree with fellow reviewers as to been woken up by the screams of the female entertainer on a regular basis there is no need for her to scream some people want to lie in on hols or lie by the pool quietly.
we did appreaciate the professional photographer at the hotel we got some lovely pics from him and reasonable prices.
all in all i don't think ill be staying in palmin sunset again unless i got it very very cheaply as a base its ok but with everyone trying to keep ou in the hotel you struggle to get out in 10 mins passing all the staff.

i did go to the spa in the hotel which i have to say is a must visit for a massage it was amazing

Room Tip: pay extra for it

Booked into this hotel for a relaxing week. Flight was late and arrived in time for breakfast which was okay. When we spoke to our rep it became apparent that we were in a very controlled hotel as in you can not bring any food or drink to your room that had not been bought in the hotel this supposedly was to stop the rooms from getting infested with ants and cockroaches now how the ants etc would know the difference still baffels me. My husband ordered roast chicken for dinner the first night we ate there and said it was like rubber and couldn't eat it.On the second occassion we ate there my husband had fillet steak which was tasteless both occasions I had vegeterian which was okay. The hotel is situated a good distance from all entertainment which can add significantly to your costs a taxi from Kusadasi cost 25 euro.Service in hotel bar was slow and you may have to order a few times before you get served this also applied to the restaurant. The sunbeds needed replacing as did the umbrellas. This hotel is owned by an Irish man and would appear his only priority is to get as much of your hard earned money as possible. If you do not book your trips with the Sunway rep the company you book with cannot pick you up at reception as they are not allowed enter the complex. Also be aware if you accidently get a bit of makeup on your towels you will have to play for the cleaning. The entertainment was hit and miss there was a comedy show on that a man dressed up as a baby jumping and screaming around the place and some others doing something which we could not figure out and a lot of shouting passed as a comedy night. So my advice find a different hotel or even better find a different resort

Have never been so scared by Hotel personnel, a great place to go if you want to be harassed by all staff and the manager (if you go to complain).
